Today I tested 100 of the craziest myths in Destiny 2 to find out which ones are true and which ones are busted! We tested some absolutely insane things like: can an arcstrider travel faster than anything else in the game? Do some of your favorite exotics have hidden perks that you never knew existed? Can you prevent enemies from teleporting away and making you miss your shots? All of that and so much more is included in this video. I hope you enjoy and learn something interesting! Actually, I can practically guarantee you'll learn something new -- many of the myths in this video are not well-known!
Here are some other videos you might enjoy:

-In my test of the Oathkeeper draw time, I used a lightweight bow. Oathkeeper did not improve the draw time. However, on non-lightweight bows, Oathkeeper does improve the draw time by an incredibly small (and in most cases irrelevant) amount of 0.033 seconds. It does not work on (some) lightweight bows because draw time cannot go below 500.
-Some (but not all) weapons with ricochet rounds can also damage you if shot at your feet.
Hope you enjoy the video!
If you can manage to not destroy your sparrow, you can actually apply blinding effects them with grenade launchers.
Did I see you in a tdt stream?
Shadow you still didn’t do the finisher right 💀 the enemy Has to be in the air or suspended (it sometime does not work on normal floaty enemies like witches.)
What is that plug-in for claiming past season rewards, and can it be applied on Xbox?? I really, REALLY want to know! I missed picking up some of the exotic engrams from 2 seasons ago
For the finisher speed one, you don't have to be on the air, the target needs to, if they are it defaults to the base finisher and it does feel a lot faster
This works on warlock too, sometimes when I finish an enemy in mid air it does the default finisher (even when I don't have it favorited) and it's noticeably quicker
It is quicker, it doesn't feel quicker it just is
Severance enclosure will show this the easiest.
It also true for titan
Also i found the new seasonal finisher takes longer for me
4:10 I think what happened there was you getting hit by a ricochet instead of hitting your foot, since Trespasser has ricochet rounds and they can deal dmg to you if you angle them just right.
I have seen this with other ricochet weapons too.
Yeah That's what I thought
Thought that too in that moment
For the hunter's strand melee, I've noticed that if you go invis from a charged melee kill with the assassin's cowl exotic equipped, the rope dart will almost always fail to return back to you
yeah i had to switch off the exotic cause even though the extra health is great not getting the melee back sucks
Oath keepers do decrease draw time by about 30ms. It's too small to be super noticeable but making it any better would make it too strong, so Bungie removed the text from the perk description in forsaken.
22:22 The draw speed is faster by 2 frames, extremely unnoticable unless you are doing frame perfect draws and releases back to back. I believe it was Aztec in one of his DPS tests that confirmed this.
Came down here to say this. They confirmed that it was a thing that they added in an interview. I think they said it was originally going to be a big increase, and then they changed it, and then never removed it.
It's -33 to drawtime
I believe that it also doesn’t go beyond the bow drawspeed limit
Also reload speed increases bow ttk so the fastest a bow can draw and fire is with using oath keepers with reloader mods
FOR CALUS. You don't have to come out from under the stairs. Move forward when his first health bar is depleted, like he did to start the engagement, then back up again, then scoot over to left or right as far as possible, start firing and the Tormentors & Calus will move over to the right or left sides where you can shoot them, takes a little longer but you don't have to worry about being killed and starting over.
14:10 Pineapples DO esxist in the Destiny universe. They're just extremely rare and unknown to many. Apart from the fact that they've been growing on Titan, there is a lore entry about Eris Morn when she gets some pineapple seeds brought from Titan by mysterious guardian called Enina. She actually planted them.
The airborne finisher requires the enemy to be fully in the air, but also certain finishers get the kill earlier in the animation which is very useful for stuff like Aeons. It more reliably spawns the ammo when the enemy is still under fire from allies or DoTs
Myth: if you kill an enemy with your finisher while the enemy is in midair it will be faster and always do the default finisher
21:37 Here's a myth for you. In the taken blight public event it is significantly faster to destroy the first two waves of blight integrity and use the final wave to destroy the big blight than it is to just use the first wave on the big blight
By “finisher in the air,” I believe they meant when the enemy is also in the air, you perform a fast finish on an enemy that immediately defaults to your default class finisher.
Also some finishers drop heavy bricks from mods like lucent finisher faster and it’s based on when the enemy is actually killed and not the entire animation.
it did works
Oathkeepers does increase draw time slightly. Aztecross made a damage testing video and he found out they increase the draw time slightly making the damage increase
Its around 40ms faster draw
Beat me to it. If you just try to look at the animation side-by-side, it isn't noticeable. But if you watch Aztecross's damage tests, he gets more shots off during an entire damage phase with Oathkeepers on. Worth equipping if you use Wish-Ender or Leviathan's Breath for DPS
You need to retest Oathkeeper, it does decrease Draw Time, but it doesn't go below the minimum (500 for Lightweights, 540 for Precisions). It's roughly the equivalent to a Draw Time Masterwork. So try out a Lightweight with 540 or above or any Precision bow.
I’ve noticed a few weird interactions with arc Titan thruster. If you use it on surfaces like stairs it will very often bug out and you’ll float there for a second or two. Also, I started playing with Antaeus wards recently and when the perk is ready, using thruster appears to activate it. Haven’t tested whether it actually reflects incoming damage.
To add on to this myth @9:56, finishing an enemy while both mid-air is faster than ground
also, for finisher effects (like special finisher) there are some that are "faster" but the actual finisher timer is still the same. The only thing that changes is the actual kill portion of it.
It also will always use the default finisher as far as I know.
@Shadow Destiny if need be i can get a clip of it lmao
this is true, and no matter what finisher you have on it, it will always be the default finisher.
The bonus loot from Terminal Overload myth also has another really cool effect. Equip crafted weapons that you need to level up, and each time you loot the chest, it gives roughly 27% per chest loot per weapon
I'll have to correct you on that myth. The enemy must be at least two feet in the air for the finisher to accelerate. It usually happens a lot with Champions when you do a lot of explosive damage with teammates and adding Suspend "helps" with that. Check it out for yourself in another video.
Love your content man! We all can tell you put a lot of work into these and greatly appreciate their entertainment value
I appreciate that!
@Shadow Destiny Fun fact: Pineapples if I'm correct on the lore tab, they do exist, Eris asked a Titan to find her a pineapple as a joke to get rid of them, but they took it as a serious request and it took them awhile but apparently pineapples disappeared for almost a century, just to suddenly reappear all of a sudden, even though it was only a few
Pineapples and Eris are always a disastrous combination in lore. In the Season of Arrivals lore book The Singular Exegete, she finds a recipe for pineapple fried rice and spends the entire lore book trying to recreate it. She sends a guardian she finds annoying to bring her pineapples, thinking they don't actually exist, but the guardian finds pineapple seeds on the Arcology on Titan. Eris can't grow them in Io's ground, so she makes a little garden out of "treated soil, asteroid powder, and a bacterial paste that looks like bouillon" and plants them. Not realizing the fruit grows underground, she observes the purple thistle-like flowers, contemplates eating them, and decides against it, worried about poison. From then on, pineapples are always a sore spot for her; she's convinced the idea of eating pineapples is a joke and gets angry at anyone who mentions it, thinking they're trying to prank her.
@MozeyTown The fruit part of pineapples doesn't grow underground though? They're not the plant's root; they're berries that grow fused together. They do, however, look kinda funky, and take a very long time to reach edible maturity from the time of planting. Over two years, according to google. It's really no wonder she never got fruit.
@Seven Lexar wow, TIL. Thanks for the correction!
I have a fun one in the Tower, I think we all know that you can do the floor is lava minigame in the tower to gain the quickness perk to jump and run really high.
The fun part is that it actually stacks with the guardian rising perk u gain when leveling up in the guardian ranks, its quite difficult to get since getting guardian ranks is quite hard, but really fun cuz it allows you to jump super high!
On top of having innate fastball, Young Ahamkara's spine makes you *immune* to your own tripmines, so you can use them really aggressively without having to worry about hitting yourself with them.
Just keep in mind it doesn't make you immune to your Gunpowder Gamble damage 😅
The finisher if a enemy is mid air or suspended is quicker as it defaults to a normal finisher that is faster than the ground based ones.
You can pull out your sparrow in that area during the battlegrounds to skip a lot.
The overload chest can be looted up to 4 times with the AoT sparrow and if you are fast enough.
For the Two Tailed Fox Arc Rocket it looks more like it does launch the Arc Rocket but it's delayed in a way where you can run into it. As there is a small explosion when you moved forward
thats just the other rockets getting launched, you can even see that there are two explosions
you can also quickly reload the weapon and it'll only fire 1 rocket instead of 2 (or 3 if you have the catalyst).
I think I posted this on the last one, but some finishers being faster only refers to the speed at which the enemy dies, not the overall animation time
All finishers are the same from start to end, but the point in the animation at which the enemy dies will vary, meaning some are better for activating on-kill abilities
As an example, Sure Shot on Hunter kills the enemy super quickly after the finisher starts, meaning stuff like invis on finish activates much earlier and makes the finisher safer, but then there’s an extra animation of your character twirling the gun to normalize the length of the finisher with others
With regard to the finisher speed one, my belief/understanding is not so much that certain finishers are faster in terms of the entire animation, but rather that certain of them kill the enemy faster (i.e., sooner in the course of the animation). This matters when you're running special ammo finisher or Aeon's or Lucent Finisher and are trying to get the finish kill before something like Witherhoard or Osteo gets the kill mid-finisher animation. I imagine we've all experienced that, where you do the finisher and it goes through the animation, but no ammo spawns (and it doesn't count toward bounty progress) because the enemy otherwise died mid-animation. Finishers like Gladiator Bladerush feature the kill earlier in the animation, potentially decreasing your chances of being thwarted by those other influences. At least, that's my belief and understanding.
The ghost blocking shots is probably referring to modes with reviving other guardians. When you have the big blue orb you interact with it seems to indeed block your shots when it gets between you and the enemy.
yeah, was gonna say. Ive heard of the myth before but never in normal crucible modes. Its only if the ghost is doing the orb animation for a res, def needs to be retested in that mode instead as both a teammates and enemies. (but I am also fairly certain its a known thing it does block shots in those modes)
Not sure if this counts as a secret/myth, but if you go to the Farm, where Mithrax used to be for the Zero Hour mission is now a makeshift hospital with injured Eliksni and Humans in it. People lying on hospital beds, etc. Also on Neomuna, if you go into the Typhon Imperator, if you keep following the path, you will eventually go through a portal, and if you continue, you will eventually reach a large circular room. This room was in the mission in the campaign where at the end Caiatl holds off the enemies as you escape down a very long path with your sparrow (I forgot the name of the mission). When you are on patrol and you are traveling through the Typhon Imperator, as soon as you reach the entrance to that room, make a right and you'll see a shelf with some urns on it. If you approach it, it will have a prompt to interact, and then you will get a text in the lower left hand of your screen about a beacon. Turn around and you'll see some sort of vex cube, run up to it and as you run through it, it will despawn and spawn another one a bit further away in front of you. Do this until you hit the last cube. Completing this will grant 100 Neomuna rank. It worked for me one time, but I haven't been able to replicate it. Maybe it's only once per character or is on a cooldown or something. Idk if any of this is useful, but I just found it interesting. Great video as always.
About the finishers not being faster than each other… I feel that yes, the time spent in the animation is the same speed between all finishers, but the point of which the enemy dies in the animation is different. For instance the solar hunter finisher that costs silver I feel kills the enemy much earlier in the animation than many other finishers. If this is something you can test that would be greatly appreciated and would finally put a rest to the finisher speed debate. Please like this post so it can be seen.
Edit: the finisher I am talking about is named sure shot
Oathkeepers does increase your draw speed on bows. But only by something like 2-4 frames so its basically non existent. However on a long boss dps phase it can allows 1 exta shot from leviathans breath.
Calus cheese is actually easier. You can stay in pretty much the same spot, just walk forward under the path (by where you start the encounter) and calus moves to the side, free kill
For the blight public event remember the massive blight halfs in hp every time it moves. So forcing 1 or 2 moves makes it a lot easier to destroy.
10:50 sometimes older consoles would hit a load zone when entering the bazaar from the courtyard, but there wasn’t one when leaving the annex. In that case taking the stairs may have been faster
1:46 that’s actually pretty helpful. I hated the strand hunter melee, but now I guess it’s at least a little more doable.
17:51 when I first knew about this, it reminded me of the menagerie way back when😁
Test the full duration of the invis with vs without void. Maybe its just me bugging, but it almost looked like the invisibility was flashing alot more light purple after you switched. That could have been the timer running out, but would be cool to know if its legit.
For the hands-on one, try using charged melee
If you fast-travel to the tower while in a Legend/Master Lost sector in the EDZ, you will be transported to Sojourner's Camp every time, without fail.
EDIT: Every destination with the Legend lost sector of the day will transport you somewhere else on the same world map if you travel from the lost sector TO the Tower.
2nd instance is the Dreaming City; Aphelion's Rest (Legend) lost sector, going to the tower took me to Devalian Mists
Oathkeepers do change the drawspeed by 30 ms. Bungie has confirmed this and it's stated on Destiny 2 compendium. It used to say it in the description of the exotic but they removed that text since the effect was almost unnoticeable.
I think the reason why people think doing damage to the engines on threshers did more than on the body was probably due to the way range works; since the engine is closer to you at certain angles, it is technically "closer" and thus takes more damage.
It actually is possible to preform a finisher faster in the air. It’s only possible when both you and the enemy in question are both in the air. You’ll get the default animation even if you don’t have it equipped
Depending on how long ago you tested the Two Tail Fox catalyst myth, supposedly that was a bug that was patched last week. It may be worth testing again
In regards to making the Taken Blight public event Heroic, if you destroy the first 2 rounds of blights and then on the last round damage the big blight in the sky, it will take way less ammo than if you were to tey to destroy the big blight on the first round of blights. If i remember correctly, it took 5 Wardcliff Coil shots to destroy the big sky blight on the first round of Blights, verses the 2 or 3 needed if you get to the third round of blights. (I did test this around the Forsaken era, but I still think it's the same.)
If you hipfire a rocket launcher enemies will not teleport away.
Thought about this when you did the myth about going into cover to prevent teleports
For the kunai being able to come back to you if you're invisible, it actually didn't used to come back to you when you were invisible. They must've fixed sometime after light fall because when it first came out you could see the kunai fly away into nothingness when your invis
You don't have to leave under the stairs to defeat Calus, right as he transitions to melee mode just crawl forward onto the pipe where you triggered Calus at the start of encounter. Calus will stand in a spot where you can shoot him, you just need to sit on the edge of the pipe and he will stand like a dumb sh*t in plain view for you to keep killing him. You can even kill the Tormenters while doing this, and sometimes you actually have to because they keep getting in the way.
For the finisher in the air one, if the enemy is in the air too, then it’ll be fast but no matter what, it’ll show the default finisher for your class
You don't actually need to leave the steps to defeat calus' second stage. When the bubble starts to form you just walk up to the stage, like how you started the fight and you get locked in under there. However it does take a lot longer to defeat him as you can't shoot his head, only his chest down.
Hey, its important to realize that while you are locked into the finisher animation regardless of how long it takes for the kill, some finishers will actually kill the ad faster then others.
This is important for some builds like assassins cowl, because you prock invis/heal earlier in the finisher animation.
I love videos like these. They are amazing and I watch them multiple times.
that means a lot. Thanks so much!
Go see a doctor.
@Vogel Bert lol
@Vogel Bert go get a better opinion lol
@Ace *NO* you get a better wheelchair.
the ghost blocking shots is defiantly not busted as someone who lost a trials last trials weekend to my teamates ghost eating my shots when i was trying to rez and shoot the last person alive on the other team, i see it a lot with the travelers ghost when my team member has the one that makes the huge orb while their dead.
The mag myth for Conditional Finality is actually true for multiple weapons, Traveler’s Chosen with the catalyst says it has 18 but really has 17, Quicksilver says 51 but really has 50, Witherhoard says 6 but we all know how much breach launchers have, it only seems to primarily affect exotics
The fast finisher only works when the target is on air, you can test that with the strand suspend, I play legendary lost sector solo a bit and found out it’s kinda faster. Anyway, love your content, keep it going man 🎉
The Finisher one is a liitle bit bugged, because if you finish for Example a Witch, and you didn't have your default Finisher marked as Favorite, it will switch to the default and does it faster. So, don't have defaults in your Favorites, and use a Finisher at a mid Air Enemy while being on the Ground.
10:02 For the finisher in the air, both the Guardian and the Target need to be airborne for it to work.
Shadow....we need that plug-in for previous seasons asap 🤣
it is crazy bro didnt provide a link or even name of it
it is crazy bro didnt provide a link or even name of it
Myth: driving with your sparrow off of a high building then jumping off while in the air can let you jump much farther than normal. Handy for getting around Neomuna during the campaign before unlocking grapple. Also, using a finisher on an explosive shank of cursed thrall will not kill you, and at least on Xbox at the time this video came out, you can't view your own commendations page.
Something Ive been using since mini slam came to destiny 2 is combining mini slam with thunder crash to go faster and get more distance, you can mess up and ruin the super if not done properly
I was talking about orbs of light with my friends the other day, and none of them knew when you make one it spawns on the trigger location but when someone in your fireteam makes an orb it spawns where they’re standing (for everyone except them). started asking around and apparently not many people are aware this is how orbs work lol
For the one about the bomber mod, the cool-downs on each grenade is different so the bomber mod will effect each one differently
Ok so if you use that calus cheese here’s a tip. When the two tormentors spawn focus on them because in calus’s 2nd phase you have to come out from under the stairs. If you don’t take out the tormentors while under the stairs you will probably get killed easily
As long as you do it how he did in the video (lowering Calus to one shot before jumping out), you should be able to finish him off and start the second phase before either of the tormentors jump up to you on the platform
I assume the reason people think d1 is slower is due too the FOV, FOV greatly changes how speed looks in games.
very true, I actually wrote that on the screen with tiny text haha
@Shadow Destiny completely missed that my FOV irl clearly too far out its made me blind xD
Out of all the comments you could have picked to test the finisher speed, you picked the one that was also wrong. Hunters have a unique finisher animation in Eververse where they hipfire a golden gun shot at the target very quickly and then twirl the gun before holstering it. From beginning to end, the animation takes the same amount of time as any other, but the enemy is _killed_ much faster than any other animation in the game. This helps a lot in GMs when you're running Aeons and have to do a finisher while under fire.
I knew Ahamkara had to have fastball. Every time I swapped to it after using void or arc with spike/lightning nades I always seem to spend half a game overshooting tripmines. Glad to know it wasn't just in my head and my muscle memory wasn't off. I wonder if using fastball with them does nothing then or if it stacks.
Conditional fanality can benefit from both stasis and solar mods (to proc solar surge you need to be at 1 or 0 of magazine and gain armor charge after it).
You should try shooting Jötunn with the new stasis exotic bow's hipfire once you have the freezing arrows. I shot a projectile launched by a Cabal on accident the other day, and it destroyed it, and left a stasis crystal floating in mid air.
i think the enemy has to also be mid-air for the finisher one to work, i've had it happen to me before, it replaces whatever finisher you have on with the default one for your class and makes it faster
12:05 Hey that's me ! 😎
Great video as always man! 🔥🔥🔥
Actually figured this out when I was still a blueberry : If you want to rocket a teleporting enemy, breaking their shields seems to stun them and not allow them to teleport even after the initial shieldbreak stun (at least until they recover their shields)
I have bad memories with the shoulder charge. Once at gatekeepers I dashed off with the relic. It was sad and I inmeadietly switched to another melee so I can repeatedly use the relic melee mid air
Oathkeepers does increase the bow draw speed, i think its something around 2 frames, but it does actually increase the speed.
10:18 While it doesn`t increase the actual range, it will increase the range of grappling on a grapple point and will help you save the grapple energy
The Hunter finisher actually is faster in mid air but the enemies have to also be in mid air for it to work.
Wake up babe, a new shadow vid dropped
Wake up babe, new Vohvo comment dropped
No I want to sleep :(
The tower is a little shattered when it comes to getting out of the map, I can show you at least one spot where you can get out of the map and explore more in depth around the tower.
If anyone can really use a break from Shuro Chi weapon leveling. @17:50 you can use this re-looting to get an insane amount of levels for your crafted weapons by just equipping them when you open chest. I've actually used over 16 alloys this season just leveling my weapons for god rolls.
The finisher is only faster when the enemy is in the air and it defaults to the default finisher for your class automatically.
Fun fact: Icarus dashing into the Corsairs moves them really quickly. I pushed one from that camp all the way to the blind well load zone lol
Nearly all of the Shaders effect the original Battleground weapons differently from what's portrayed
And collecting the loot from leaving the area & coming back 3 times, has been around since Witch Queen launch. You can also do that in Throne World activities
Been around since Forsaken. Do it with the chalice chests in the original menagerie.
For the Quicksilver having Firmly Planted, I believe every weapon benefits slightly (very slightly) from crouching.
The mid-air finisher being faster is a thing. Actually, I'm a warlock and when in air I see my warlock doing the default warlock finisher (when I have a different finisher on) almost instantly going straight for the punch rather than charging up then finishing. It happens at random.
You can push the Corsair NPC's quickly by using your sparrow. The NPC's also count as players so you can use them to spawn the two bosses outside of the entrance of the corridor to the blind well.
I always push the corsairs around whenever I head into the dreaming city. Makes for some amusing moments when those that don’t know do a double take when there’s just a random floating corsair in front of the blind well entrance
12:04 there are many of those holographic cats. Firest time I've seen one was in passageway to the lost sector in Zephyr Concourse in Neomuna. Sometimes they're really hard to notice, but you can hear strange noise when they notice you and run away.
It IS true that the start to end TOTAL finisher times are all the same, however, certain finishers within that time of “locked in finisher animation” kill the target faster than others. Compare silencing shot to golden gun quickdraw for example
3:15 myth or fact? Step sis is stuck.
After a Crucible/Gambit match you can give commendations to the other team. If you go to the scoreboard and hit the star, that's how you do it.
For the thundercrash shoulder charge one, you go waaaaaaaay faster if you use ballistic slam instead of the charge
ACTUALLY, the default hunter one is the fastest mid air, however it’s when the game gets confused and doesn’t know which finisher to use so it does a sped up version of the default hunter one, even if you don’t have/aren’t using the default hunter one! Since finishers came out I’ve done this a handful of times but it’s not something I’m aware on how to trigger manually. It just happens
another "myth" / unkown thing:
the wave from your wave frame gl can pass through your rally barricade but NOT through your wall barricade.
Awsome vid btw! really enjoy these types of videos!
The trespasser one is just because of ricochet rounds bouncing off the ground into you, no? So any weapon with ricochet should theoretically be able to do it
Whats the plugin called, need to claim old things
Maybe sliding into the small room on the Rusted Lands map works with specific framerates? There's for example an issue with those transporter beams / streams in the lightfall campaign if the game is running with > 60 fps. So maybe it's something similar with the Rusted Lands map myth?
The calus one has killed me multiple times. Sometimes his shots go right through the stairs and one tap
How have you not ran out of myths to bust!? This is incredible 😂 thank you.
19:10 Its much better to do this with a sparrow, you can move them much further and faster, but you can end up making them float in the air and to fix it you just need to spawn your sparrow above them and fall on their heads to knock them back down to the ground lol.
If the dart is already returning to you I believe it can find you if you become invis. With Assassin's cowl it almost always loses tracking and falls to the ground if you get a kill with the dart.
Yup, every single time
How does 16:00 work? I have some shit on old seasons passes, that I forgot to get.
I need answers too
Okthisiscrazy now I need to know what a plug-in is and how it works.😂
for the thundercrash + shoulder charge, if you use ballistic slam, you can gain way more momentum
9:52 when you perform the finisher the enemy has to be in mid air too it basically just skips half of the finisher animation when you and the enemy are in mid air at the same time your default animation will activate even if it’s not in your inventory.
Have you heard of the glitch with Symmetry. If you activate the alternate fire mode then swapped to your primary, an arc line appears on your screen but only when looking a certain direction.
06:49 It works with DIM too. Infact, if you create a loadout, it actually shows as a loadout made ingame and not via DIM.
