Me too, but HBO has a problem writing endings of shows....all of them from Game of Thrones to Trueblood to Succession. Horrible ending just now. Why even do the annointing scene because it lost ALL its power by doing that ending. If ya going to devastate Kendal character why not have him jumping off the roof of the building during the signing and then see the look on Roman and Shiv face when they realize they killed their brother.

I know a lot of people say Jeremy is pretentious but honestly the earnestness he approaches the character with is incredible. Hearing his thoughts on Kendalls ending though only makes it even more tragic, if he is not drowning literally he certainly is figuratively.

@Man on Couch Productions Yeah. A few Method guys are always welcome. I do like how he doesn't even try to distance himself from the Kendall character at some points in this interview, using "I" and "me" to describe KLR's thoughts and actions.

    • anona mouse.p
      anona mouse.p 4 months ago +11

He is a gifted actor, yet 2024 Awards Season must go to KIERAN CULKIN as he responded best to the writing of the character of Roman Roy, in contrast to JEREMY STRONG retreading the boards as KENDALL ROY.

    • mysharona
      mysharona 4 months ago +18

@Ramar Wint Agreed. Kieran Culkin is excellent but Jeremy has consistently been the standout performer. The only other actor who has rivaled him on the show would be Matthew MacFadyen who somehow simultaneously gave the most entertaining, ridiculous performance AND the most subtle one.

    • John Ricercato
John Ricercato 4 months ago +2

@mysharonaFor my money MM’s is the better performance- he makes the role extraordinarily nuanced and complex and plays totally against his own personality; while JS is in reality not that far from Kendall Roy imho: has a considerable ego, takes himself very seriously, and doesn’t have an obvious sense of humour. (Where he is different is that he - JS - is conspicuously intelligent and well-educated.)

    • vivek kumar
vivek kumar 3 months ago +1

@Connor Clarkekeiran or Bob. The main reason he couldn't get an emmy for this season:-
      1. Since this is last season they want to award keiran because jeremy had already won his first emmy
      2. Lot of emmy voters doesn't like method actors publicity.
      3. Keiran's culkin campaign for emmy is broader than jeremy
      4. I don't like Jeremy's emmy winning speeches because he never gave credit to whole cast or ensemble. He considered himself as a shown runner of succession

    • Connor Clarke
Connor Clarke 3 months ago +1

@vivek kumar Jeremy slightly edges Kieran to me. Bob doesn’t take it for me respectively. Season 3-5 was his chance, he was off in S6 IMO. Jeremy of course wasn’t on in season 4 either, at least not season 2-3 on. The early episodes Jeremy was actually looking bad and unconvincing, particularly the first episode of the season. His character came alive after election night and he was the 2nd best actor on the screen from episodes 8-10. Of course Sarah Snook is my personal choice for best actor of the season. She also had a rough start to the year, not nailing her accent well enough. (She’s Australian and she seemed rusty in the first few scenes of Ep 1)

He maimed his own brother to coerce a vote, and was fully prepared to physically attack his pregnant sister. "I'm the eldest boy!" was Ken going mask-off. He vehemently lied to his siblings about the waiter's death with his "I didn't even get into the car" bs. Ken got what he deserved. I rooted for him, but I now have no sympathy for him at all.

    • Razz Prince
Razz Prince 4 months ago +60

@Anthea Cao I feel people are completely missing that! Kendall showed in this episode that he isn't a good person, it's baffling how many people believe he's the true "good" person in the show when he's actually never shown much of being "good" at all. Not to mention, had he won he would've been a complete tyrant. We know this about Kendall, power gets to his head and within a few years he would've been way worse than even Logan was.

It sure was an ending to think of a lot. I have to see it again. And again. There's so much in it.
These adult children had two parents who didn't love them, and are incapable of loving anyone. It was a tragic ending.
Roman is immature and maybe he will heal and grow. Shiv is vindictive and nowhere as smart as she thought.
Kendall was smart and the only possible one who could have taken the top spot. I felt for sure he would after he took control at Logan's funeral.
So Ken is dead inside. But hey, they are all rich, they don't need to work anyway.

Agreed, but can we even earnestly say that he’s “the guy”? He’s completely dispensable, on purpose of course, to be able to slot into the role of Matson’s pet dog.
There are differing levels of losing between the characters at the end, but I think the larger point is that they all lose in a serious way. But yes, in the literal sense Tom does come out “on top” of the other main characters given his current level of status and influence. Just seems very temporary and like it could go away for him at any moment if Matson decides to move on to another replaceable figurehead

Loved it all. Loved how the siblings played in the kitchen and when they watched the family video.
I didn't see the twist coming. At times I feared for the safety of one or another but overall enjoyed it so much.
Great show. Beautifully written, acted, directed, shot, edited, and has a great score. Always loved the way water was filmed and the way the cars drove so close fast. Almost military in its presentation. Or an SUV commercial.
Loved it, loved it, loved it! Big thanks to anyone who was involved in it!

I love how he blurs the lines between himself and Kendall even in this podcast. There are numerous instances where he speaks AS Kendall and I find it so beautiful. Here is a man who is proud of his work in the best possible way. Love you Jeremy, love you, the entire cast of Succession ❤

Kendall was never going to make it. Logan was able to build WayStar from the dirt, to the point where the company almost controlled the United States. He built it. Meanwhile, Kendall simply inherited his wealth, and didn't develop the skills necessary to become a kingpin. You know what they say: Hard times create strong men, and Easy times create weak men

I am here as a fellow viewer, to acknowledge that Succession has, as we know, ended. Succession was a show, also Succession has been on HBO since 2018. And when a show ends it is sad. All the shows will end one day. In this case, it is Succession who has done so. Succession was on air for four seasons, but no more, now it is over. Succession's viewers were us. Now we are sad.

What a ride. I've been rooting for Tom ever since he sided with Logan at the season 3 finale. I am glad he won and decided to keep Greg because as we know "You can't make a Tomlette without breaking some Greggs"

Tom and Gregg’s dysfunctional bromance is my favorite relationship in this show, so I loved that despite the multiple back and forth betrayals, Tom is keeping Gregg by his side.
When Tom told him on election night that he “can’t have someone else do my gregging” it was such great writing.

Ken denying the death he was involved with to try and save his position as a last ditch effort when it was clearly over was just MARVELOUS WRITING... At the end of season 2, Logan tells Ken "You Have To Be A Killer". I mean if that is just not exceptional irony playing out... Kendall was bedeviled in that Boardroom from the moment we met him. He might very well be the most tragic character HBO has given us since DeQuan aka "Dookie" from "The Wire"...

    NOOO ITS OVER😭😭😭
In all seriousness, a true masterpiece on all levels. This is what a masterclass in writing and storytelling looks like from every fundamental aspect of the show. I am super satisfied with this finale. It was simply incredible how everything ended. I had a feeling it would end the way it ended, but I did not in the slightest expect it to go down that way.
My boy Tom was the only one who could have possibly been victorious out of that circle of characters (siblings and family members). Sure I have no doubt Jesse and his team could have gone the route of Kendall coming out on top, and it would have had it's own poetic sense to it calling back to the very beginning, but there would be one thing missing... the element of tragedy.
At it's core this show is a Shakespearean tragedy, and the way they ended it completely encapsulates that.
I'll miss this show so much, but they went out on top, and that's all we can ask for.
    👏👏👏👏 Sensational!!!

It was the only possible ending but it was deeply unsettling nonetheless. If it turns out that Mencken didn't win--as one character hopefully suggested--it would be hilarious if Tom Wambsgans once again found himself contemplating life in prison if he was left to deal with allegations that ATN had interfered in the election.

I think Shiv was sincere about joining her brothers in the vote but when she saw the way the votes were going with both Sandi's voting Yes, she was on the fence. Kendall doesn't have the stomach to commit suicide. That was the point of Rome's nugget of truth. The three of them were cosplaying business people. Tom survived because he's the real deal and understands the nature of his position. Same with Karl, Gerri, and Frank.

But it will bother Shiv that Tom has more power and she's just his wife. They deserve each other. And I couldn't believe it when Lukas interviewed Tom and said he wanted to f**k his wife, and Tom just sits and takes it. He'll take anything to get what he wants. And I was glad to see Greg hit Tom back. The worst for me was seeing Tom in charge of Waystar, even as a puppet.
