Good move by both teams and even better for the Nets. The Nets get back Dinwiddie, a big body in Smith, decent picks, cap space and most importantly, they didn’t allow Kyrie to just walk.
@Fan123 Maybe a change of scenery will be best for Dinwiddie and Smith. Mind you, Dinwiddie may play even better because he’s played for the Nets before.
@B Positive I’m a Mavs fan and I’ve watched every Mavs game and trust me Dinwiddie is a terrible defender and has locker room issues as well. Dorian is a fan favorite but any Mavs fan can tell you he has regressed and Mavs sold him at his highest point. Nico Harrison tricked y’all with the post saying Dorian would only be traded for a star and the Nets fell for it. Dorian is regressing and we all Mavs fans know it 🤣

@Mike Nguyen You're missing one important thing. The Mavs have JKidd and Nico, both of who know him very well. The Nets had terrible coaches and JKidd and staff will put him in a position to be successful in the organization. The fact that Luka finally has another star will only give him more opportunities to rest as he doesn't always have to bring up the ball. Many dont realize Luka can play of the ball at times. Now the Mavs have two of the best closers in the NBA who can get a bucket whenever they need it. Dont forget Christian Wood is another scoring threat and has been blocking many shots late in the game when they've needed it. I still think the Mavs are not done yet.
Kyrie, the temptation that teams can't resist, but end up regretting. Where he goes follows the collateral damage of bad trades and lost draft picks and a franchise effected for years.

On paper Luka & Kyrie is a crazy combination if they can develop team chemistry, but because of their personalities I think they might clash at some point.

As a Sixer's fan I was happy when they broke up Levert, Jared Allen, and Dinwiddie they used to kill the Sixers guards. Luck the Sixers had Embiid but they use to run past Simmons and Covington. Sixer's guard couldn't guard them...

I bet the Nets are glad the distortion is gone. I'd understand any franchise not giving Kyrie a 4 year deal. Because of past actions he's only good for a 1 year deal. Cause for him issues besides basketball affect him so much he apparently can't perform to his full potential. More loyal to his own stances then towards the game of basketball or any franchise. And that is his choice to make, but don't be bewildered when at the same time basketball organizations don't want you around.
From an organization perspective I'd never ever trust this man with a 4 year deal. 'Not gonna be able to do it!'
Mark Cuban and the organization beware, don't let this twist into a negative influence on your young star if this man becomes a fifth wheel and holds the rest back. We've seen it happen before.

I don't think this was a smart trade. 🤔. Both Kyrie and Luka NEED the ball in their hands. They both are very ball dominant. The question is who's gonna yield their ball dominance ? Dallas is Luka's team it's hard imagining him yielding to kyrie. I predict he does not sign with Dallas .
Luka is the same player as LeBron was back in the day at least offensively anyway, and if kyrie and Bron did it together with a worst team, Luka can get it done too

@Ben Mercer there's a chance It can work but chances are greater for it not to work . Their playstyles are identical. It's like you have 2 of the same player and skill set on the same team. If Dallas dosent make it to West coast finals or finals Kyrie will leave in the summer

Slicc He underperformed because Luka never utilized him correctly. When healthy, he's a stretch 4/5 who can also catch lobs. He is also a rim protector. You can't confuse injuries for talent. As a New York Knicks fan we were sorry to see him go. He had recent back to back 30 pt games and has 38 two nights ago.

Slicc Because Harden is versatlie enough to be a pass first PG. Luka is not a pass first PG. He didnt create enough plays for KP. Plus we never got a chance to judge that trio in the playoffs. That's where teams watch film and makes adjustments. You are judging them on a small body of work.
@That’s Game! TVJames Harden was willing to be a distributor and we never got to judge them in a deep playoff run. Luka never found a way to utilize KP who was a versatile big. How do people expect him to utilize Kyrie who is undersized as a 2 and a bad defender. You speak as if The Nets had great success with Kyrie and Harden.

Kyrie and Durant were both unlucky , without injuries they were going to win the ECF and probably the title in 2021, they both were stated as unable to win without lebron an curry and unforunately this is what happened

Several thoughts
1. Clearly the Mavericks were the winner on this trade but the Nets really had no other options.
2. Dinwiddie is a good player but he is definitely not on Kyrie's level. Finney Smith is okay but per his stats, his productivity has plateaued out now in his 7th NBA season. Maybe on a new team he could progress.
3. The Mavericks now have to hope several things happen in the near future
a. They can resign Kyrie at the end of season
b. Josh Green and Christian Wood stay healthy and are productive
c. Kyrie behaves himself, is a good teammate, meshes well with Luka, stays healthy and continues to play at this high level.

@Young Fu To be fair, Kyrie is far from what AB has become. Kyrie is anti-establishment, to be sure, and his basketball career seems to be secondary, but he is not as unstable as AB. AB has ruined his life. Most of what Kyrie is done/said is not that damaging to his personal life. He just offends the mainstream.
Point C is the tough one. Kryie is like a female with emotions all over the place, i find it unlikely he’ll find his emotion stability before the season ends. He’s the NBA’s AB

Been a Mavs fan my entire life, 40+ years. Had season tickets for over a decade, until I moved across the country. Still a rabid fan. But I’ve never been this embarrassed and disgusted with Cuban or my favorite team. As long as he wears the uniform, I hope they lose every game.

No way KD hanging around, nets are full rebuild now. But problem is the teams that actually have another star can't afford KD, so he might end up in a bum team. Will be sad if KD ends up in Jazz or Bulls. He is my favourite player to watch and that will lose NBA a lot of views

Steals aren't a big deal. I think harden was top ten steals a little whilst back. Luke isnt top 10 this year..not even top 30. The difference between 1 and top 30 is like 0.5 steals per game..not really difference making when you're talking 105 possessions per game. When was the last time someone got signed to a big contract because of their steals? No one cares about steals.

Dallas should have tried to keep Dinwiddie. Looks like the Brooklyn Nets won this trade by a big margin. If Dallas does not win the Western conference, they got fleeced IMO. Now Dallas has to acquire a scorer to replace Dinwiddie to make the team competitive.

They are going all in on offense to see if it can propel them to the finals. If it doesn't work.... so what.... you took a swing and lost a first rounder 6 years from now.
