CHARLIE PUTH - THAT'S NOT HOW THIS WORKS (short film)

To date I’ve made 34 music videos, and they rarely feel like they say the whole truth about a song. There’s always more to say, and it’s usually just outside the music. It’s more in the moments, and that’s how my brain has always processed things - finally, I was able to make something to recreate truly what this song means to me. I cannot wait for you to hear it. This music video was so incredible to watch because it doesn’t paint either of them as “the good guy” or “the bad guy.” It paints them as human. And I know that the song is just going to continue these real human emotions and be very relatable.

this was absolutely breathtaking. watching this hit a little too close to home for me, but it also felt good to see two of my favorite artists acting it out. it makes me feel less alone. this was absolutely brilliant charlie and sabrina

This was so powerful. my heart oh my god. I love how human and real it feels, doesn't have a hero or a bad guy. just a couple go through the coaster of life. Sabrina was an incredible pick for this, shes mesmerizing to watch, such an incredible actress and musician.

Okay... as a long-time fan of Charlie Puth, I'm used to his immense musical talent, but I never ever expected him to be this good of an actor?! For years, he was being humble and said he can't act, though THIS masterpiece was made with the legendary Sabrina Carpenter! I am so impressed and I really think this is Charlie's BEST work. So proud and can't wait for "That's Not How This Works."
P.S. The moments where Charlie literally YELLED terrified me... felt so real and we know it came from a personal, dark experience for Charlie. Our hearts are so touched! Love y'all

And the songs from that album connected a lot of us with our own past as well. This video really hit hard. Just wanna say thank you for being the best artist out there. I'm a disabled vet and was going thru a hard time and took it upon myself to take my music further and to make it more like therapy... and that meant singing. Dude the end made me cry. But that means it was really good because not a lot of things make me cry. This is one of the best mini movies I’ve seen, and I can’t get enough of if. It’s weird to hear Charlie yell. This is amazing

I can’t put into words how this film is. First off, Charlie and Sabrina’s acting performances to me, were AWESOME! The way Charlie can flawlessly perform and act out all these different emotions blows me away. At 5:09 when he raises his voice, it legit gives me shivers. It sounds so legit and real! I didn’t expect this guy to be this good at acting. And Sabrina, even though I haven’t seen any of her work, this performance was awesome. The way she interpreted Charlie’s ex from the stories he’s told blows me away. Both Charlie and Sabrina’s performances were awesome. And the song… oh my god… the song perfectly connects to the short film, explaining the different ways the girl tried to get back into his life. This is truly Charlie’s best work. Awesome job!
