I am an old British soldier and I suppose I have to be an England fan. I served in my time with Fijians in my regiment. Tam Tamani, Joe Luva and Sammy Vuniwaka. I would dearly love Fiji to win the rugby world cup, not only for sentimental reasons but also, I believe they can do it!

As a Wallabies fan it's not just that you deserved to win that game in particular, it's also the years, the decades over which you have fed talent into other countries, especially Australia. I hope you go on to be real giant-killers in this tournament. No one deserves success more than Fiji.

@Tony Roy Absolutely! Marika Koroibete, Samu Kerevi, Lote Tuqiri, Speight, Vunivalu, the list goes on (and on and on). Australia is a currently a second tier rugby nation. Without Pacific Island players generally and Fijians specifically we would be third tier.

As an Aussie, I totally tip my hat to Fiji’s performance today. The wallabies were outclassed in almost every respect. The three things that I thought were terrific about Fiji were their power and retention at the breakdowns, finding a reliable kicker who can slot penalties, and of course their never say die attitude. Quarter finals here they come. 🎉🎉🎉

As an All Blacks fan, I was cheering Fiji the whole way o this match. No hate to the Wallabies at all but Fiji has been a sleeping giant for decades. The Fijian Drua awesome performances during this years Super Rugby season was an indication of how far Fijian rugby has come and has rippled into their international game. I reckon if they can keep this level of rugby up or reach higher levels as the tournament goes on, then I reckon they could even pull off appearing in the Final since they don't have to contend with the likes of the All blacks, Ireland, France and South Africa on their way to the Final. They beat England not so long ago and Wales were lucky to get that win if Fiji didn't drop the ball.
I could blabber on but this rugby world cup has become even more exciting as the so called lower tier teams are pulling off upset wins through years of grinding, management, timing of peak performances and of course SELF BELIEF!!!
Can't wait for the upcoming matches in the pool rounds :) LET'S GO!!!!!!

@chalkandcheese Read my comment again, I just said that. It's not as popular because it hasn't been as easily accessible to the vast majority of Australians as Rugby league or AFL. Hence why I said it's good that it's becoming more open to public schools and local clubs as that will help to increase the popularity of the sport. and nowhere did I say force people to play it, giving access is very different that forcing schools to make it a part of their sport curricular. Get me?

Love the style of rugby fiji plays. its exhilarating and this year, they seem to have added the much needed precision in passing that caused them to lose many games in the past despite playing attacking quick rugby. They have been banging on the rugby union door for years and this should give them the confidence to reach the next level

glad Fiji were able to win this one. They've been hard done for the last two games at least. Should be 2-0 and could have been 0-2 given how poor/inconsistent some of the officiating has been towards them.
I knew this was going to happen, Australia have been rubbish for a while now. Nothing but respect to Fiji for getting the job done. This will hopefully be the wake up call RA need. But I foresee another 10 years of mismanagement.

It really isn't, Australia are a rabble, saffers weren't and made the semi's
...definitely not in the same category of upset. Japan played unbelievably against a great team. Australia aren't a great team at all this year.
@Iarla I can't argue that, but nonetheless, in terms of upsetting the world rugby order it IS equally immense, and hopefully will provide a great fillip to further Fijian development. And if you think in terms of the bookies, and odds given then it is just as great an upset.
