one thing you didn't mention about the 30 minutes or less is that a lot of franchises took the "free" pizza out of the driver's paychecks, which is why they cared so much to get the food there on time

Can we just appreciate that food theory is the only channel that still has an intro

What astonishes me more than anything is how Pizza Hut never landed up employing their own delivery program.

Dude my neighbor is obsessed with the noid. I knew it was a dominos thing, but this was very informative on what the heck this creature was. My neighbor has like 10 figures in his car and 3 in his window. All looking out at people on the street. It's kind of creepy 😂

As someone who nearly died from an allergic reaction to Domino’s pizza, and then was refused a list of an ingredients from our local Domino’s to see if we could identify what I was allergic to, I’m not avoiding the Noid, I’m avoiding them.

I'm gonna buy a plush of this guy if there is just so that I can "Release The Noid" each time I'm doing something risky or stupid.

One correction, Yo! Noid 2 wasn’t official dominos merchandise, it was a fan game made for a game jam

I can confirm the KFC chicken shortages were in fact a thing in the UK, I remember hearing that exact ‘I had to go to burger king’ 1000 times over that week because it was a story on the news for THAT WHOLE WEEK because the police were being stalled at KFCs as multiple fights were breaking out at car parks and stuff.
It was ahead of it’s time.

never knew Dominos had a mascot, this was truly a interesting episode, made me actually learn some background on one of my fav pizza places

I briefly worked at domino's in the early 90's.. One of my tasks there was dressing up in a 6 ft tall Noid costume and dance around on the side of the road. It really sucked.
One interesting thing about working there was a poster in the breakroom that gave actual lore for the Noid.. It stated that gremlins have plagued mankind since the dawn of time and as time and technology progressed, various gremlins would specialize in messing with various things, like airplanes, cars, etc. Then one day, a "renegade gremlin" named the Noid, decided to take specialization a step further by causing mayhem for pizza delivery, and was highly successful at it, until he went up against his arch nemesis, Domino's.
It was a professionally made poster that was provided to the store by Domino's, so I figure it's official Noid canon, but I've never seen a copy of it online, nor have I seen anything anywhere on the internet that states this lore.. It's weird.

I find it amazing that The Noid is the embodiment of Domino's corporate greed

I work at a domino’s in Australia. Over her we do “20 minute guarantee” which is where if the pizza isn’t at your door in 20 mins, it’s guaranteed to be free

I seem to recall Dominos being the first to use a plastic support in the middle of the pizza in order to stop the Noid from crushing the pizza. Or were they first to use a doughball for that purpose. Whichever, it was to stop the Noid from squashing the pizza.

Every food company needs to sponsor you or risk getting their own episode like this, lol.

My mom told me about the noid a couple months ago and about how she hated it, so i told her they were bringing it back and she was terrified! I was dyeing 😂

An employee added something to a particular sauce to a customer's pizza. I don't remember if it was in retaliation or umm... appreciation?, but it was all over the local news (mid MI in the 90s). The location never recovered and eventually shuddered its doors.
I think even the Noid is gonna avoid that one. 😂

These kinds of videos where we learn more about the history of the biggest fast foods companies are extremely interesting. Though I really hope you guys also do some videos of how to store produce properly. Like what needs to be in the fridge without much moisture. Or what doesn’t need to be in the fridge.

What's worse is that it just reinforces that it is just human nature to base judgment on personal bias and liking. Just like charismatic criminals are sympathized we don't hold companies accountable as long as there is something likable about them. It's not a distraction as Mat says it's literally chaging the equation by a margine.

been an Domino's driver for 10 years and it interesting to see this some parts I noticed with the online tracker but didn't see the other probably because my store wasn't a corporate store and the owner has over 7 locations so we weren’t effective by the bad news.

Food Theory idea: Which fast food place has the better Chai Latte (including Starbucks)?
I’ve noticed each place I’ve been to, the Chai Latte’s always taste different. One is sweeter than the other, different temperatures over time, or which has more spice than the other. Mostly because almost every place I’ve been has a Chai Latte but I wanna know which one is the best and tastes the most like what Chai would taste like. Idk, just my idea :) And I’m just curious which place has the best Chai Latte lol

But seriously someone get Matty on Pizza tower. I personally think Peppino's the next Steve Rogers- a super soldier with insane abilities, but one of the very few successful creations in an effort to make the ultimate training ground, also known as the *tower itself.*

And here I thought they were using him out of fear that it might become public domain if they didn't. (I'm not sure how these sorts of things work)

Now I want to see a sequel video about why The Noid *was* as successful as it is and the psychology of food advertisement!

Strange, the "30 minutes or it's free" deal is still going here in my city in Mexico, though you have to look in their website's FAQ section. Also, the Pizza Tracker is just a gimmick since I've had pizza delivered while the tracker stayed on "preparing".

As a member of the Domino's family I have to say the noid has always been my favorite I still have some of the toys they came up with from back then

It's crazy that Domino's got backlash for what happened with The Noid the first time, it wasn't really their fault that time

Honestly my neighborhood hasn't ordered from dominos in ages because there was a time they ran over the same little girl 2 to 3 times. Luckily that girl is alright and she has grown quite a bit. But yeah we haven't ordered from them in ages because of that, also another reason we have more speed bumps and many people putting up signs trying to warn drivers about the possibility of children playing sports or just simply walking on the road. This video made me think about all the changes that everyone went through where I live. This video was very interesting to watch, always love food theory and all the other theory channels 😁

7:20 ugh, such a bad memory. I actually really liked their cheese bread, even if it's their pizza was otherwise awful, so it really bothered me every time I saw a commercial that said they improved the cheese bread when I tried it and it just wasn't as good to me.

Domino's worst nightmare right now is how their pizzas taste. I will take almost any other pizza over them these days. Glad I finally got my family to choose our local pizzeria over Domino's. Those are the only 2 pizza places we have in our small town. Our local pizza place has such good pizzas that I will happily pay more and support them over Domino's.

I remember renting "Yo! Noid" and "Spot" for our NES. I loved those games, along with the original "Micro Machines". Such nostalgia, MatPat! Thank you.

I played that first game. It was actually challenging. You had to finish the game within 30 minutes. Also a lot of trial and error when to jump and when to use a key.

When I was little my dad worked for domino's so sometimes my mom and I would eat dinner with him and there was a noid pinball machine in the corner of the restaurant. It was pretty fun to play but I always lost, plus he was terrifying for seven year old me

As a kid, I loved the Noid's commercials.

a theory I'm interested to see you guys tackle: what's the best way to carry a pizza?
there's a takeout pizza place like a three minute walk from where I live so I often place my order for pickup, then walk there and carry the boxes home myself. How do you make sure they lose as little heat as possible on the way back? Should you hold the boxes close to yourself or away? Hinge side of the box facing you or facing away from you? Horizontal or vertical? Hot air rises, so if you lean over the boxes does your body trap the heat? Do you walk fast to minimise time exposed to the air, or slow to minimise the number of air molecules it hits per second? If you have different sized boxes, what's the best way of stacking them? Garlic bread above pizza, or pizza above garlic bread? The list of questions goes on...

The Noise made The Noid come back, truly amazing

In my hometown, our Godfather's Pizza delivered back in the mid to late 1970's. And, they delivered until the company went belly up around 1985/86 or so. Although, they did make a small comeback in 1997/98 or so, but never delivered upon returning.

Whoever wrote this episode obviously hasn't played Yo Noid II or didn't realize it was a fangame, because it's actually a great 3D platformer with extremely tight controls, highly recommended
