April Fool's! Teacher + students pull off the ultimate prank.

  • Published on Mar 31, 2018 veröffentlicht
  • WARNING! A sense of humor is required for this video.
What happens when half the math class returns from a school trip? Well obviously, they get pranked by the remaining students and their teacher. What else could there be?
Remember that playing gags is an artform. It must be done with love in your heart. This scene taps into a universal fear we all share: the feeling of being completely and utterly lost, while EVERYONE around you totally understands.
Having said that, witnessing half the class slowly lose their marbles is straight-up HILARIOUS.
    And, YAY MATH!

For people who are good at math, this is exactly how people who suck at math feel in class.

This is so true. This is how we feel for literally almost all maths and it's super bad for our self confidence because we don't want to feel like idiots. This prank was awesome, yet it hit home xD

Hi, I'mBob Even if they practice, no one is good at everything. You can practice enough to solve a math problem or get a decent grade, but; like many people can’t dance, sing, act, rap, write, cook, be athletes and such; many people just can’t do math.

  • Amanda
    Amanda 3 months ago +4100

As a former math teacher, y’all don’t understand how hard it would be to make up bad math in the first place, but then try to sound confident while explaining it. That’s impressive.

    • Allison Brown

💯 % what I was thinking. While I'm not a math enthusiast I can respect the ability this guy has not only to upkeep the math, but to make (and improvise) it wow! I wouldn't be surprised if there was actually something similar he was getting too he or anyone else may not know about. You know what they say innovation comes at the strangest times

    • Lois Dungey
Lois Dungey 2 months ago +6

I was thinking about that but more because complex math is totally beyond me. Generally makes no sense at all - made up or otherwise!

Nah! It's easier than you think. My AP Statistics teacher back in high school was a Pro. He and the class would do the same problem and every single person got a different answer and of course his was always the right one. Lol

Same, like I'm just nodding to whatever my teacher is saying and then research it later on the internet

    • Triparadox C.
      Triparadox C. 28 days ago +2

@Beyondo To be honest, you can do this on most, if not all, classes nowadays. I always say when I don't understand publicly. I don't even mind explaining my wrong argument to see where I get it wrong. People just assume they'll be judged and won't even try while continuing to wish they won't be judged.
I can't say about high school, but for colleges, people don't care. In fact, they're happy someone else asks so they get review again when they don't dare asking themselves.

I love how as the teacher goes through and starts to explain stuff, the kids that were in on it and the teacher himself actually started to connect a few dots and started to almost make sense of what they were talking about. There were a few spots where he kind of realized that he was stuck and he was contradicting himself, but there were also spots where he actually fooled himself into believing some of the things could almost make sense.

Great relationship, no fear from the students to admit it they didn’t get it, the enthusiasm to try to get they didn’t even see the what the end formula spelled out, the fun the teacher could afford to have with his class because learning happens in a relaxed and happy environment. Love it!

I totally loved math in school and this was such fun to watch. In about grade 9 a student behind me was always asking me questions and one day the teacher thought I wasn't paying attention and called me to come complete the formula on the board. I was so shy but the class started chanting "do it" so I quietly went up, took the chalk, finished the formula etc., put the chalk back in his hand and sat. He never bothered me again about helping the student behind.

I thought it was funny that he actually lied about it NOT being real. 🤣😇. I was a straight A Engineering student at UT (hook em!) and aced AP Calculus in high school. I guess he didn't wanna scare and scar them with unnecessarily showing them how much deeper the rabbit hole goes. He got a couple minor details wrong like the equation for rise over run, but the overall concept of "sum" or sigma in math is still the same. It's used to find the area within a graph curve or can be altered to find the volume of an oddly shaped object. It can be applied in fields such as statistics or probability for protecting the future outlook of a certain industry or product, in architecture, civil and mechanical engineering, rocket science, and the like... I almost had a panic attack from ptsd flashbacks when he wrote the letter "i". Just Google what are i's in math, I dare you.

Hint: i's in math are used to express/justify the 5th dimension in quantum physics and string theory.

Every student should have teachers like this ! Most of mine hadn't smiled since Nixon was in office, much less actually had a fun personality. Good video, GREAT teacher and class ! And for the record, "actual" algebra equations look like this to many of us !

Props to the confererate student. She really did a good jog bullshitting her way through it. This may have been my favorite April Fools prank ever... no one got hurt and tortured. The ones that figured it out were just as amused as the perps.

It's been 44 years since I did Algebra 2 and I sat here being so thankful that this is a prank because I was so lost. Having graduated over 40 years ago I can safely say I have not used algebra in all that time.

This is, clearly, a high level math class that the students were so engaged in trying to make sense of what seemed like nonsense- which is essentially what math seems to become once you graduate past Algebra 2 and into Calculus. Lol

it's a testament to the teacher that students who see stuff on the board that makes no sense try so hard to understand it by engaging with the teacher and the class instead of just instantly checking out like it would happen with a bad teacher.
