Watching Andrew over the years, I am so happy with how good he has gotten at interviews. Everything flows so smoothly and he always gets unique insight from the people he interviews. Thanks Andrew, cheers from Kansas!
First 3 minutes we’re about food, made the interview awkward
@Barry Allen Very good interviewers do this frequently to ease the person they're interviewing into a conversation.
Food is to show you what lights him up off the field and get him settled in and comfortable!
its not everyday that I agree with berlhalter, but his take on how to improve the mls is something I do agree in and imo it is spot on
Now the MLS fan boys are going to label him as a mls hater because he critized the league 🤣🤣
@BeingAce's Dad Not at all. Love the MLS, always open to constructive criticism. Greg has some really valid points and I appreciate his input.
Not a huge fan of MLS content but this is Wiebe at his best. Great interview. Especially for such a high profile and over-interviewed subject like Gregg. He can be very cagey and formulaic in interviews and Wiebe broke him down very effectively. Great job! Thanks!
Great interview. I like Gregg. I believe he is a manager who is growing into his role, leading a team who are growing into theirs. I expect them to show well in Qatar, get a lot of things right, learn from inevitable mistakes... and then win it all, at home, in 2026.
Great interview, great questions….could tell research was done.
My introduction to Andrew…what a great interviewer!…
USA will do really well!
I expect them to be 2nd on their group & probably win the 4th game. I would consider that a great accomplishment!
Delusions of grandeur
*Pulisic outlasted Tuchel 😁*
If the next manager doesn’t favour him, what will you cry about next?
Problem is Sterling and Auba are clearly better. Pulisic should drop to mid level club to get regular playing time.
Honestly.... it probably feels like positive news, brings hope to every offensive player on the team. What do you suppose are the odds James plays another match at CB the rest of the season?
@CMJames It’s called Favor!!
@ShrimplyTheBeast whatever you say black lover
Wish he asked about Brooks,Long maybe the potential of bringing over Jack Harrison idk this felt like something but nothing at the same time but it was an interesting watch
Don’t let this distract you from the fact that Tuchel is finally gone 👏👏👏👏
So what
Pulisich out last Tuchel
Pulisic will still have to prove himself and get ahead of Sterling. He has had numerous opportunities, and I doubt he will be able to compete because his touches and movements have been crap for a while now -- and that isn't down to being in different positions.
Americans really think pulisick is better than sterling.
@Some Cheese not all of us Statesmen.
I thought it was a great interview Andrew. Gregg doesn't make it easy, you have to open him up a little bit and I thought you did a very good job of that.
To the people haranguing the questions, I'd pay to see you sit down with Gregg and try to go at him. He'd tear you apart. Not to mention there's a relationship to maintain if you ever hope to get the opportunity again. I don't agree with everything he does either but he's done a good job stewarding this young team, let's see what his approach can yield for us in Qatar.
Exactly
Why does the setting look like a 1920's sunday school?
Exactly...if you ask him...why are you blackballing Brooks when it is obvious to everyone that he is one of our top 4 CBs, you have said in the past he has problems playing a high line but while you don't want to give away tactics its pretty clear you wouldn't play a pressing high line against a team like England or any other really high quality club unless losing 4-0 is what you want. AND THEN you never get another interview with anyone in US Soccer again and are praying they approve your press credentials for the next match.
@David I don’t cover their matches in person anymore with regularity. I don’t worry about the next ask. That takes care of itself. Press folks know if you do your job with integrity (and that also means asking tough questions). If you think he was gonna give more on Brooks now than he has before, you don’t know Gregg. I do wish I could have gotten him now after the CL started instead of two weeks ago. Lots of newsworthy stuff to dig into that wasn’t as pertinent then.
@Andrew Wiebe and you would have e gotten no where. Doesn't matter your agenda or your "next match" ideology a true professional knows different.
Great interview by Wiebe. I think Gregg has been consistent through his entire tenure - even when fans were screaming "Berhalter Out" ... what he has done with this team in the lead-up to this World Cup has been among the greatest achievements of any USMNT coach... and now the question becomes: How will people look back on the US performance in Qatar? I think this team has a belief and a spirit to it that we haven't seen since 2002... I expect quarterfinals or semi-finals for this team (or further).
take a shot every time berheltar says “yea”
Hey, Berhalter try a 4-2-3-1 or a 3-5-2, but not with Long.
When does he discuss Pulisic at Chelsea? It's not in the section headings. I listened to most it without hearing Pulisic and Chelsea mentioned.
Greg needs to work on set pieces with the boys. If they can't defend on set pieces and cant win area duals, We are toasted.
32:41 the pause is so telling. between jesus, ricardo, brandon..... um.... pefok, sargent, and wright. I think we know who 3 strikers are... last spot is up for grabs!
Lets get Touchel in here pronto!
they should summon folarin balogun who scores goals at stade reims instead of brandon vasquez
Great interview Weibe
Brandon Vazquez better make at minimum the September roster. He deserves at least a chance with the team.
maybe not, he has slowed down recently
How about finds a decent goalie, or recalls Tim Howard out of retirement
Good interview
Our team has a higher ceiling than ever before but I feel like Gregg is holding them back, especially with his loyalty to his MLS babies like Arriola, Roldan, Morris and Long ffs
You have no squad depth, in comparison to other nations. The MLS is your domestic league, what is he to do?
@CMJames lol look for more Americans around the world ? If he chooses roldan over Tillman in the World Cup than you already know he’s bias
Uh....He wants to go to Celta Vigo because of San Sebastian...someone should point out to him that Vigo is 7 hours from San Sebastian
He'd actually be closer when he's in Valencia to see Musah.
This is what corporations consider a good interview. A robot could ask more interesting questions.
No it couldn't and if you don't know that....makes you obvious
Aww, it’s Gregg’s safe space. The MLS will always be his sanctuary of brown-nosers. Doesn’t rate world class players but keeps Arriola and starts Long over proven talent. Gotta love that favoritism! :)
Thank you for telling us you don't know what a World Class player is.
@Flash Delirium Is that you Lletget?
FACTS
@Sikthkid Imagine thinking the USMNT is full of, or has even one world class player, let alone one that Gregg won't play.
We have a small handful of squad depth players at big clubs and they all play for the Natl team, we don't have world class players
I’m begging you to name this world class player that Gregg hasn’t called up
🔥🔥🔥
Ggg is not a good coach, only got the job because of his brother in the federation. It's a joke and the dude is a joke
I think a lot of USMNT fans and staff will get a ride awakening in the group
And you know..ya smart...got it!
That's my GGG, 🇺🇸 Coach!!
Potential is: None,, nada, cero!! 3 and out!! 😂 😂
Greg reminds me of Mark Zuckerberg
Number 9 list is at 32:40 . I would take out Wright and add Tillman
Tilman don’t play #9 role a lot
No matter what we need Tillman.. He is dangerous and love attacking the box. Remember the worldcup is about talented individuals
Tillman is a wing or midfielder
I should play this world cup. come scout me november 17th in vegas at la galaxy tryouts
You guys are too far from the mics
Less talk about food, more talk about why undeserving mls players are occupying a roster spot.
These questions are butter soft. Contrast this to football media of any other country in the run up to the WC
At what point did you discuss Pulisic? I don't see it earmarked in the video and I don't have time to hear you talk about food and music.
This has to be one of the worst interviews I’ve ever seen
Why? I Thought there were some good questions.
So cringe
100% incompetent and unprofessional manager wish we don’t have to see him with our national team in Qatar
