    • Sketti Boi
Sketti Boi 10 months ago +5

Me too but as you probably know already A proper fall out shelter is a totally different ball park. Even with Colins fame & possibly comfortable income, a properly done fall out shelter is probably out of reach for him. Solar is not an option for a good chunk of the up to 35y shut in time because of nuclear winter so the power solution alone is a huge hurdle then apart from the hydroponics there needs to be decades of pantry stored food and over 40,000L(more like 60K) of water for each person too. Then more space for battery banks (of different chemistry batteries I would think), generators, massive fuel tanks on top of that, lots of other things & general posessions, a mass of health related stuff, security measure stuff, spares & maintenence stuff for everything. Spare charcoal etc for air filtration, more space for communal living areas too. Don't know if the law permits it in England but since his yard looks quite small he'd have to keep going down alot further. I estimate total space wise alone he'd need to escavate maybe another 10 times or more what he's already done.

Since you now appear to be something of a dab-hand at this tunnelling malarky, have you given any thought to digging out a sub-sub-sub basement level? Something that looks a bit like the Mines of Moria? You know, high ceilings, pillars and maybe your very own Balrog?

Do not forget to install redundant air circulation because CO GAS can build up in tunnels because it's heavier than normal air.
Also it's not a bad idea to put a box fitted with a HEPA filter, a carbon filter and moisture absorbing packets to prevent your tunnel from turning into a moldy mildew paradise

I told the Shire to shove it and took the gate back to the hardware store and got my money back. I still have NO gate .
Heaven knows what permits Colin needed to get health, engineers, building, and what about the rubble/ spoil removal to the tip?

This is an epic project without a doubt but how long will all that untreated and unpainted steel last realistically ?

    • Johnathan Doe
Johnathan Doe 11 months ago +3

@RubyRhod He seems to be massively above the water table so the concrete should survive pretty well, frost might get to it though.
The lack of rebar in it means it will crack slightly prematurely.

    • RubyRhod
      RubyRhod 11 months ago +6

Mild steal holds about 30 years per millimeter thickness when not painted, coated or exposed to rain and fresh air (both is needed for rust).
I guess Colin uses 2mm thick mild steal and it is surrounded by concrete, blocking most of water/air from the outside.
I estimate Colins bunkers (the "old" one and this tunnel) to last at least his lifetime, probably even the lifetime of his children.
If the steal is painted in a few decades, I don't see a reason for those structures to fail within the next 200 years; most likely due to concrete deterioration.

    • Johnathan Doe
Johnathan Doe 11 months ago +7

A very long time, unless the tunnel floods or has serious condensation issues. The millscale on steel actually provides some degree of protection so it’s only fully exposed in the areas where he’s cut/welded it.

@Leonard Greenpaw Yeeah, Bible's definitely been warped, to say the least, Way i interpet it:
God is neither inherently good nor evil, and Satan is just another aspect of him.
Jesus originally never revived, he died and stayed dead. And more importantly, he never died for *your* sins, he died for his. From what we can gather, he was a total shitlord in his childhood/teen years, most likely committing *every* last one of the Seven Deadly Sins, including plenty of murder, however he'd come to realize "i'm a piece of shit", repented, and attempted to make up for it, hence the being super-friendly and helpful part. Doing it because he felt bad and thought his past was wrong, rather than just to "be saved".
He most likely didnt do Miracles either, but probably was ""superhuman"" compared to people then. As just whipping out miracles kinda defeats the whole Human aspect, if he can just magic things.
In terms of what i gather/interpret, God more or less gave us Free Will to do whatever the fuck we like, and be judged on it. If someone decides to genocide in his name, he wont stop it unless he has to, etc etc. Bla bla "God intervening messes with your free will" bla bla.
Though, not 100% sure on that entirely, since there are bits like "kill your firstborn lol", genociding Egypt, etc, when he gets pissed or dared apparently.
In terms of said payment/retribution. Generally, the "do good, and mean it, not just because you wanna get bailed out" is the main requirement, most likely no outright belief in God required.
Admittedly, one bit that i did find interesting, though unsure about the validity, is someone claimed that Humanity had told God that "we can govern ourselves better than you could", to which he responded basically "Bet.", and of course there's the Garden of Eden, which made Humanity smarter than beasts, and gave the CAPACITY for sin. Rather than giving the whole "inherent sin" bullshit.
as a short summary, more or less. Ignore the dumbass zealot who cant read anything past their KJV Bible word-for-word :V

      Higuera ft 10 months ago

@Aluani Netshituni Clown detected. Jesus never died for our sins, he died for HIS sins. God doesnt love you unconditionally in the way you put it. People go to heaven for doing good and meaning it. You dont get a "Go To Heaven for Free" Card for "repenting" after do you do shit.

I'd be equally amazed at a 15mm long drill bit, though.

I'm starting to think Mr Furze is secretly a preper for the coming apocalypse... underground bunker, hidden tunnels, the ability to knock up strange machines steampunk style... its all coming together

I wonder what the legality is with drilling under your own land and how far you can go

Hi Collins you should keep the minecart in your tunnel when you connect it with your bunker empty house then you can write it to your bunker then you don't have to walk

I like small spaces. Probably because my room was small growing up. But I do feel safe and content in them. This seems like a wonderful place.

After watching this, thought I'd comment about that super long drill bit but they're not as difficult to find online as I initially thought.

I don't know why the underground series is so cool but it's definitely some of your best work. I am envious you're able to act so cheery all the time. I wonder if that really is how you are if so congratulations you got life figured out man LOL
