@Stargirl well minecarts where very popular as rollercosters, since its not as cost effective and probably better to get a horse they rather have the minecarts act as rollercoasters.

Those ppl who complained forgot they can use fences to prevent their “rollercoasters” from derailling. Plus its a good feature to like make a good minecart ride where u derail and go back on track when landed

The removal of that feature was biased because people who liked the change said nothing, but people who didn't like it complained so Mojang only saw their feedback

Mojang shouldn’t change minecarts, but they should ADD a new faster type. That way the people with original minecarts wont get changed, and we have new faster ones.

Here’s an idea: Mojang should have the behaviour of 14w11b be the default but there should be a gamerule that reverts to the older behaviour. That way we get faster minecarts for survival but maps also don’t break since the map makers can just change a gamerule and go back to the old behaviour.

An easier and probably simpler solution would just be for them to make a faster/slower version of the minecraft (new item type) or for mojang to just actually make them faster again and for people to learn how to use fences and walls to keep their rollercoasters from derailing

This could have been solved if the 8bps Minecart was crafted in the normal way and the 25 bps one was made differently. That way, rollercoasters would still work (they could make it the normal way) and they could be more useful for transport since you could use the new, faster version
Or they could just make it a setting thats on by default so the ppl that complain can shut up or suffer

They didn't remove the change just because of the roller coaster issue, but rather, they actually removed it due to the game engine not being able to handle the fast minecarts, one of the developers old tweeted about it.

Holy shit I now know what was wrong. A few years ago I was Messing around in Minecraft on my Wii U and wouldn’t figure out why the minecarts were going off the rails but it’s so clear now.

To fix the roller coaster issue, they should add a type of rail that changes the blocks/s speed, like a gui that you can fill the number into saying “revert to 20b/s in 3 blocks” so you can easily take turns without going too fast

As a mojang worker myself, I have to say it was an accident on the derail part.
i think you should be able to build bigger curves going against minecraft's grid to prevent the de-railing. this update to minecarts with the speed could make them much more useful especially somewhere like underground

i feel like it’d be much easier if instead they made a new type of mine cart, because a new rail is all well and good, but it means that if people want to effectively use it, not only do they have to redo their existing tracks (if they have any) but also dump tons of resources into it, which would still make elytra better, as it’s comparatively cheap. if a new, hard to obtain cart was added, it would still be difficult to get, but would only need to be obtained once, and would work with pre-existing rails.
Mojang listens to their community when they don’t need to, and doesn’t listen when they do.

Some people may have forgotten that they can use fences to prevent their 'rollercoasters' from derailing. Fences can be a valuable feature when creating a minecart ride, as they can help prevent derailments and add exciting elements to the ride, such as safely guiding the cart back on track after a thrilling moment.
I suggest the PERFECT solution (imo):
It's the same as in that update, but there are new, cheaper powered rails that are 8 b/s (good for turns (and rollercoasters) because derailing would exist)
I can see both sides,perhaps adding a different typeof rail like for example a magnetic rail made with copper that makes it faster and not derail would be the best way to tackle this issue.

@NOT_A_ROBOT that was uh, a legal thingg lul. and its hardly had any consequences. they listened and made sure swearing was clearly not bannable, they just legally had to filter it on realms. and legally had to implement it, like most games with online servers do

they should put this back, but add a rail-strengthener thing of copper. That way, the minecarts can go fast but will derail with normal rails, so you need to strengthen them. Copper could have a new recipe it's useful for. Also, maybe the rail-strengtheners could get damaged after some uses, or they could get damaged when it rains, because of water. I think that would be cool

I think Mojang could add an adjustment system for the speed power rails give like with repeaters, where by right clicking you could adjust the power of them. They could also add wide corner rails which take up more space and resources, but can be taken a little faster than a standard 1 block corner.
Now Camman is gonna be playing in that version forever.
Speed run tips: if you start the world go to the desert pyramid and step on the pressure plate then you can get to the end.
2 ideas to add back faster minecarts.
1 keep the high speed and derailing. But you can add a “reinforced” cart or track, that the cart cannot derail off
2 make a motor item that you can place onto a minecart that makes it way faster. But it needs energy to be used, acting like a furnace but for minecarts. Ik the furnace in a minecart exists, but it doesn’t make you that fast and also you can’t sit in the cart.

If they put this back, this would completely change the dynamics of open world servers (ones that ban elytra). players could travel a lot faster and civilization videos would get crazy.

They need to call another vote on minecart speed. This way, the matter is permanently settled.
The real solution was to allow for a larger corner radius, so you could still have high-speed roller coasters, they just needed wider turns.
I think mojang should make a thing/item or block that when you click it you can decide how fast you want the minecart to go therefore making it not ruin peoples roller coasters and making everyone else happy.

Camman says always that if the elytra didn't exist, everybody would use the minecart, but I think that everybody would use the horse, because there are horses that can bei faster than minecarts and it would be too expendive to make a minecart rail.
Mojang should just make them fast with no downside, you still have to build all the track so it’s not overpowered and this way we can keep rollercoasters

I remember these days. And all you had to do was put a wall and it wouldn't derail. Even a slab or trap door worked. I made so many roller coasters during this time.
The should make an extra powered rail. Maybe it could be connected with a series of normal powered rails to make it go really fast. I sugest echo shard to be in the recipe and for it to make a sound as you roll on it to get a boost. Maybe they could make a slime rail as a counter balance that really slows you down to prevent going of rails.

The speed was a decent change, would still rather use plenty of movement methods but the derailing was a huge problem, not just for the roller coasters of the time but for many redstone contraptions
You could have probably put a few blocks at the corner and it would fix itself
@BigA Minecarts don't slow down that fast though, so unless the derail only happened at max speed you would either need a lot more regular rails or a way to artificially slow minecarts down
