If you want to hear our reactions to all the controversies this episode created when it released last week on Nebula, including but not limited to...
- What counts as eating at McDonald's
- What counts as a handstand
- What counts as a drop goal
- What counts as rolling a die
...make sure to listen to our Nebula exclusive podcast, the Layover!: nebula.tv/thelayover
Someone could’ve bought a die with more faces (like a d20) and did it that way, it’s not against the rules!
I miss Brian, new season is great tho
i agree, the layover's great
ROFl, They do a half of a second handstand, and count it as 2 seconds in the total tally... Thats a very big margin they took for themselves there!
While the handstand attempts were questionable, I think the card was actually just too hard and underestimated. Doing 60 seconds worth of a "real" handstand is incredibly difficult, and I don't think any of the players could really do it.
I love how Ben and Adam taking the east route was an obvious strategic blunder but they don't really care because they're just using it as an excuse to sightsee
Yeah, especially since there really isn't that big of a downside from just following the leader. Even the worst roadblocks aren't really as bad as having to complete whole challenges to stay ahead.
When you finally can put vacations as a business expense.
@Laika Drake I mean, you don't get coins, I think that's a big downside
@Laika Drake you dont get the coins, thats pretty bad
I love that Ben and Adam took the extra time to see more glowworms. Even though they were lagging behind Sam and Toby, they took a moment to enjoy and process its beauty.
Sam ist tryharding
@hue Fruchtsafthe's lost every time by like a hair I'm sure he wants to win this time
flashback to rainbow falls
I feel like this is the real purpose for this game, and winning doesn't seem like as important as previous seasons in the US, as it feels the real winners are those who can enjoy the trip the most.
@TheMrProboscis Season 2 was a knockout though. He didn't even finish.
Ben really walked into a convenience store, picked up some snacks, and then cocked a gun from his waistband - thank god it was NZ
It was pretty obviously a toy gun. NZ has very strict firearms regs, so if it wasn't there would be some explaining to do.
He meant thank god the weren’t in the US.
@Hans thank god it wasnt a democrat run state. Republicans know the difference between a nerf gun and a real one.
@TheTexan83 girl...
Thank god it’s a Democratic country in New Zealand.
the way Toby says “americans” after Sam hides the nerf gun😭
26:39 for your viewing pleasure
I know it was so fun🤣🤣
She is not wrong 😂
I did not realize she was so xenophobic. Shame.
We should have Sam from Wendover, Sam from Half as Interesting and Sam from Jet Lag to have a three way match for the next season!
And Sam will still somehow find a way to loose 😂
What about Ben and Adam... 😢
@WonkyWater MC Ben and Adam can be what they where always ment to be ... Agents of Chaos
@Just for Kicks Imagine a series where there’s two teams but instead of having roadblocks or curses they pull from the Ben and Adam deck which is just a bunch of ways for them to enact chaos on your team 😂
Unfortunately someone there is repeated
Shoutout to the people responsible for editing these videos. The roadblock animation, the fake rugby posts, and the Snack Zone graphic make this feel like it could be a real TV show.
Ben and Adam edit them
This IS a real tv show dammit
@First Name the Motion Graphic team is listed in the description😊
Also just the way it is cut! I noticed this in previous seasons too, many times the cutting plays a huge role in how funny the episodes are.
The Clock Store Window save has to be the most iconic save in JetLag history. I would have immediately started the veto clock as soon as I saw the closed sign.
It's just the time gap in episodes that confuses a bit. The thought of looking for clocks might have occurred the next second they saw the 'Closed' sign, and they wouldn't have wasted even a minute thinking over it.
Not really, it was a lot of people's first reaction to say, just look inside from outside it's not a big deal.
There was one right at the start that was actually the correct time. Then then wasted time because they didn’t see it
@Nellie they did see it, but didn’t rly think it was a clock on display. if they hadn’t found another, they would’ve used it
(from podcast)
lol so obvious theyd look inside for a clock... you can see clocks inside in ep2. more like what a lame attemot at a cliffhanger
The duo of Ben and Adam is the most funny wholesome and iconic duo ever
Edit: 1.5k likes omg mom I am famous
so wholesome it's so amazing and their dynamic is so perfect for the show
Wholesome, until one of em eats a glowworm
I can't wait for more episodes of The SnackZone with them
Wholesome, aside from all the swearing they have to bleep out - if I had a nickel for every bleep in this season so far, I could buy my own bag of Burger Rings (if I were in NZ, which I'm definitely not).
@My Lady Casagrande Personally I don't understand why swearing would discount wholesomeness. It doesn't make them any less wholesome to me
I love the _Snack Zone_
the unnecessary title sequence for Ben and Adam just eating stuff is hilarious.
It really captures the vibe of being on a road trip and coming up with fun inside jokes on the way.
this needs to be a reoccurring bit with them on the same teams it has become my favorite part of the episodes
I hate to be that person, but as a rugby fan I can assure you that was "indisputably" not a drop goal! A drop goal is when the ball bounces on the ground first.
They talked about this in the podcast. They discussed the challenge beforehand and were fine with how Sam did it.
Sam making up the rules again
@oyasumi yea but the issue with that is that a regular punt like that is so easy that its not worth being a challenge.
It’s so painful to watch on all fronts - probably like if I tried to throw an American football!
@oyasumi what is their podcast? and which episode
When are Adam and Ben have to get drunk on a local spirit 😂😂😂
maybe they can do that at a winery in the south island! 😂
bc of the season 5 trailer on the nebula channel, we know that ben is gonna get drunk again. (adam cant get drunk cuz hes driving)
No spoilers about what happens, but he still hasn’t after episode 4. I’m waiting too
@rojandyyyyyyyyy2128 well obviously it wouldn't be jet lag if Ben didn't get drunk
well they have only just reached auckland, so its gotta be a loooong season.
The Big Ben clock at 1:52 was actually made by my great-grandfather with instructions from popular mechanics. Kinda cool this appeared in a random youtube video that was recommended to me....also cool to know it is still on display at Claphams after all these years.
Wow how cool is this
Ben: I'm gonna eat so many glow worms
Adam: Don't eat glow worms, don't eat glow worms
Sums up their relationship perfectly
Adam needs a sign that just says "BEN NO"
Next season you guys need to implement a "apply sunscreen" rule every two hours. damn!
Hate to be that guy but sunscreen isn’t all healthy!
@Polar I am pretty sure solar radiation is worse
@Polar you are most definitely that guy and you should indeed hate to be him
@EvanAviator heehee
I know it was edited but the noises Adam made while trying to complete the handstand was so funny.
Literally, sounds like a character from Smash
Harmonized perfectly with The Blue Danube.
It's funny that Ben and Adam tried to keep very quiet in the caves so as not to scare the worms, where in fact they should have been as loud as possible. The worms react to vibrations and will glow brighter in response to loud and sharp sounds 😅
Sure, but that'd just be rude to the worms. Maybe some of them were trying to sleep.
Sam seems to just really love 20 questions for some reason
And "On the Road Again" 👀
It's a road trip tradition.
classic lamest thing possible
i can't believe he wasted a question on "is this person a woman" after asking "is this person a man" lol
This season is incredible so far. The tactics of when to use the cards, rather than having to do it immediately, adds far more jeopardy to the situation.
I like how they try to find a clock with the right time and pick one that was 15 Minutes out, even though there was a giant one with the correct time behind the till, the entire time (visible at 1.36 it was the white one)
You'd be right, except that clock is one of the ones for sale.
It has to be on display
Also the Grandfather Clock to the left (right on video) to the one they see also says 6:10
they talked about this on the podcast. that clock was in the “for sale” section and was therefore not “on display in the museum” like the card states. ben/adam we’re planning on using that clock if they couldn’t find another one through the windows (after discussing rules with sam)
I'm surprised they didn't see the giant sundial out front thats set to the right time and manually adjusted for daylight savings 😅
The editing and the Snack Zone is what makes this series honestly 👌
The snack zone logo reminds me so much of the 90s shows on Nickelodeon!
ooh and the soundtrack dont forget the soundtrack
As an Australian who used to play rugby watching them try to drop kick the ball through the uprights is pricless
Same here as an Englishman who used to play League.
The rugby nause in me really wants to point out that that wasn't a dropkick!
@bigmac2722 I don't even watch Rugby, just American football, and it even bothers me 😂 I can't even imagine what that was like for Rugby fans...
@BigMac27 Turns out none of the four of them (who wrote the card) knew what a drop kick was, which was why they counted it (it wasn't what they intended to write)
I feel like for the McDonald's curse they must stop at the restaurant and consume the item while still there not while driving
At least the parking lot
The curse only says that they have to stop there and that each team member must eat something, not where they have to eat it. Technically they would only be cheating if they rolled through the drive-through without coming to a stop.
@NusRad eat something AT McDonald's. not from McDonald's in your car smh
@NusRad it says eat at mcdonalds not eat mcdonalds
@NusRad the word “at” literally gives location… it’s literally the definition of the word “at”
Ben and Adam using the zipper merge has solidified my fandom for them.
German here: What's so special about that? It's standard over here, am I missing something?
What's a zipper merge? And why Sam and Toby didn't do the same thing?
@Alan Young If two lanes merge into one, drivers on the lane that ends are requested to drive up to the end and only then, not earlier merge with the other lane. This ensures maximal throughput as the most space (two lanes) is used most of the time. If merging happens earlier, the lane that gets merged in gets crowded (too early). It is called a zipper merge, because while merging the cars of the two lanes alternate. First a car from lane A drives and B waits, then B drives and a car on lane A waits. This in addition to maximum throughput ensures fairness. It's standard in Germany and although most drivers don't give a damn about anything it works extremely well. But due to the confusion and the amount of likes I assume, it's actually a peculiarity?
*Whispers*
"I'm gonna eat so many F*&^#$@ glow worms."
"Don't eat glow worms"
Big Grogu eating frog eggs energy.
"Spit that out!"
sam predicting every single thing ben & adam do is so funny💀💀
Spoiler :
If Auckland has Lime Scooters or Bikes that would’ve been an insane way to get past the curse of rolling a die for each step.
Edit: The teaser has the boys on a bike, looks promising
They could also walk backwards or sideways.
Actually, Auckland *does* have Lime Scooters/Bikes
Auckland does have them
@The Physicist Cuber or just run. It's technically not walking either.
@DOLAN DUK they do use bikes in ep4
Finding a clock with the right time while looking THROUGH THE GLASS of the CLOSED museum was SO lucky it's unbelievable LOL
A Ben and Adam travel show is needed where they just go and explore crazy places
That's just jetlag.
There's something poetic about the fact that Ben and Adam were at a clock museum and were hindered by the time.
There's also something poetic about those glowworms. They're just so pretty.
I felt so connected to Ben when he said he wanted to know what the glow worms tasted like.
hes really the self insert character among the cast
Sam and Toby doing a race. Ben and Adam enjoying New Zealand.
So many tours of NZ are 20 mins of "here's Auckland, here's somewhere else, add some quick scenery shots, goodbye" - I'm so happy you've taken three episodes to just get through Northland and into Auckland! This trip is roughly NY-Miami by road in minimum distance, plus the detours/challenges, and a ferry to the South Island - cannot wait to see the rest of your journey!
Thank you for the distance comparison, that really helps me visualize it!
love how sam and toby spent 20 + minutes trying to kick the rugby ball, watched a tutorial, and got it first try.
If Ben and Adam have to roll the die to walk forward... why don't they just walk backward?
Based on the teaser for the next video it looks like they use bikes
@Caleb Chapman nebula gang here, they do
Sam would say "technically" and walk backward..
Really wish they'd done this, I love moments like that, when they use weird ways to circumvent challenges... Although Sam took it too far with his human-animal thing a couple of seasons ago.
@Ram Padmanabhan You say that, but he did ask the people who wrote the card (Ben and Adam) right then and there!
I love how Ben and Adam are having fun on their adventures, than really trying to catch up on sam and Toby.
Ben and Adam are truly just taking this season as an opportunity to have fun and I’m living for iy
The editors are doing a great job with animating!
It's always fun to come home from my German Class and watch the new Jet Lag episode!
Sehr gut
Fantastisch!
nicht aufgeben!
mach weiter mein freund
Pipity Popity this comment is now german property
Was waiting for you guys to drive through my home town, notorious for its traffic. What do you know, instantly recognisable when Ben and Adam are stuck in traffic
Is it really traffic if there's only one road?
i dont understand how ben and adam consistently get so lucky
I can’t help but root for Ben and adam. 😂they make me laugh so much every time I watch. And of course we live Sam and his Uber serious demeanor. It’s a nice balance between the three
Lets just take a moment to appreciated all the work the animators and editors put into these episodes 👌🏻
I love how confident they were when they got the handstand challenge when neither of them can do a handstand lol
Love that Sam knew they would be talking about the zipper merge
The editing and the Snack Zone is what makes this series honestly
Adam is a true competitor. Not the Jet Lag most wins by accident
I love Ben and Adam taking the eastern route can be summed up by the quote "What you can't take away from me is that I had an absolutely lovely day."
As a rugby player I can't help but laugh at how much time Sam lost because he kept trying to kick a conversion instead of doing a drop ball😂😂😂
As a Kiwi, watching Sam and Toby repeatedly fail to do a drop kick was frustrating. I remember kicking rugby balls over the posts before I turned 10, and watching these two miss so many times was hilarious.
As a European, when Toby said Americans', it really got me hahahahah
Ben and Adam completely were like ehhh we win or we lose we are doing some sightseeing lol
Man, the editor that put the minecraft cave spider sound deserves a raise! so subtle.
i wish there was a public version of the map so i could see all of the possible challenges they could do
Revenge of the Nerds! As a nerd myself, I love how the most unathletic people in the world are competing in sports-based challenges.
I'm glad to see this season see more use of the power-ups. By all means, previous seasons where the powerups went at least mostly unused were still really engaging and full of clever strategies. However, the variety and change of pace is nice to see here.
This season is so chaotic I love it
Sam: "Well, when you compare the expected credits gained from the tasks up against the potential time saved by taking the shorter route - given the other team also acts optimally, of course, and considering the tactical role played by the upcoming bottleneck - "
Ben/Adam: "I wanna see the glow worms"
Ben and Adam have the best strategy- get your dream vacation on company time!
For people who keep arguing about the technicality of the McDonald rule - THEY CREATED THE GAME and whole point is to slow the team down by making them take a detour.
The card state "For the next three Mcdonald's that are visible from the roadway, you must stop there and each team member must eat something" it's not that deep, stop at mcdonald and eat something. It never state you need to stay there, or you even have to buy mcdonald. They stopped at the drive-thru and they ate something - challenge completed
EXACTLY!
My home town is where the closed clock museum was. I can tell you it would have been an absolute miracle if that museum was open ahahha. well done on finding a way around it!
"This almost never happens in monopoly" had me laughing so hard
The editing in this season is so good!!
Both teams are so fun! This is definitely my favorite series from Jet Lag so far. So excited for next weeK
Seeing Adam doing handstands is pure enjoyment.
How does this series consistently outclass shows by multimillion dollar companies in production quality?
it’s got passion
It’s a bit like Top Gear, it’s not about what they’re doing it’s who is involved. Top Gear still existed after May, Hammond & Clarkson left but a lot of fans switched to The Grand Tour. 3 friends and a guest, arsing about across the world is endlessly enjoyable because they get on so well. Plus it helps that they come up with very interesting and exciting challenges and funny ways to mess up each other’s day
The people producing it are also the people doing it. They care and design a show they wanna be part of
This was a tense one, and next week looks even more insane! One of the best series of Jet Lag already imo
This season is going to be SO long and I’m loving it SO much. This episode was amazing I adore you guys
I love how the Blue Danube Waltz has become the song of struggle
I'm loving Sam's Amtrak hat!
Thanks for the episode!
After three episodes we have just reached Auckland. How many episodes can we expect?
Good job by Ben and Adam of singing the train song in the second one! I would have vetoed it after looking at those lyrics.
Watching Sam and Toby trying the rugby challenge was one of the most painful things I’ve ever watched!
I love the way your videos are edited perfectly
Keep the series coming this is fire to see other people making a game like this in New Zealand 🔥🔥🔥🇳🇿🇳🇿🇳🇿
Editor, if you’re reading this, as an editor, props to the hundreds of hours this project took you. You are amazing
It was Ben and Adam I believe
Not really convinced eating cookies and playing one game of 20 questions can be counted as 30 minutes of fun.
I gain an inordinate amount of delight from the Snack Zone with Ben and Adam bit.
I’ve just finished episode 4 and OH MY GOD!!! I think this is hands down my favourite season so far! Also Toby is a great guest!
Big fan of this jet lag series! I think Ben and Adam will still win 😂
It might be possible if they get Auckland, but don't think so. They have way less challenge points at their disposal, so Sam and Toby can probably toss curses at them in the end. And the curses seem to slow you down a a lot, to the point where whoever runs out first loses. Similar to the card swap last time.
@togamid fair points! I’m sure there’ll be plenty of twists! Still a long way to go 🤪
As an Aussie Rules fan, seeing Sam and Toby stubble to kick a rugby ball was painful 😂
Sam and Toby having a nice chill morning throwin’ Roadblocks around. Y’all are basically tied here, Love It!
First day (of filming) and Ben & Adam are both badly sunburned 😂
Also, yet again some creative interpretations of what’s in the spirit of the game - this time by both teams at least.
I absolutely love this, and despite being a Nebula subscriber I’m watching it as it’s released on Clip-Share with my partner. Maybe in the future there’ll be compatibility for a Nebula app on PS4 or smart tv’s 🤞
I need the Snackzone with Ben and Adam to be a real thing.
This season is gonna be like 20 episodes long lol
Still in awe at the perfection of the planning in jet lag. Genuinely inspiring guys!
I love how at the Clock Museum, neither Ben nor Adam realize that there is a clock staring straight at them that says 6:10 when its almost certainly 15 minutes within that time. But they got one anyway so it's all good I suppose.
Love Ben & Adam so much
Seeing my local Maccas on a Clip-Share video wasn’t something I expected to happen today 😂
Wild caving is awesome - it was great to see Ben and Adam giving it some extra time :)
Been watching your videos since a very long time…
And I absolutely enjoy every single series in it! I wait every week just to watch one of your episodes and this series has really been more enjoyable as the video length, presentation and animation is perfect!
Love your work guys! HUGE FAN!
Thanks for making this AMAZING content! :)
Love the Sam Toby duo, it’s so fun!
Loved this episode can't wait for next week 😊 and to binge watch the whole season again once it all comes out
The SnackZone with Ben and Adam should be a thing in future seasons
I once got to go an underground river tour at the Waipu caves and at once point we came into this massive cavern. The cavern's ceiling was COVERED in glow worms. It was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. If you ever get a chance to go to New Zealand, please, do yourself a favor and go to Waipu.
This has got to be my favorite channel of all time.
Incredible series as always, also, props to the graphics team, INCREDIBLE job
Adam's grunts from the handstand compilation sound like some 2000s video game sound effect, lol. 🤣
And I thought he was good at doing handstands after his confident reaction to the roadblock
This episode was the best so far. Love the chaos, love the team dynamics.
As someone who lives in NZ, “it’s not very mega” is a great tagline for most of the sights here. That’s part of the charm.
