I applaud Yarde's trainer for stopping the fight and saving his fighter. Yarde was not going to win that fight, he was just going to take more damage.

What a beautiful performance by Beterbiev not only did he outbox yarde, he also clipped him and left him dangling. Yarde was out on his feet. Good thing the fight was stopped, he could’ve had permanent brain damage. No point of continuing fighting if you were already outboxed and outgunned.

What's crazy is that Beterbiev does this with zero head movement whatsoever. It's incredible how stiff he is, but his inside game is so strong, his chin is granite, and he punches like a mule.

There was so much Corruption in that fight it was almost funny.
yarde was also wearing "waist padding" that was protecting most of his body against body shot.
he was wearing his belt so hight to protect himself of body shots.
Even the referees at some point even helped yarde lift it up very highly which was crazy.
Throwing his mouthpiece many times to get a breather and the referees not warning him.
Headbutts which opponed up a cut on arthur, and the most interesting thing is all the people that pretends that it was from a punch lol.
Arthur would eat one clean shot and you had the commentary creaming " he is hurt!" which wasn't the case whatsoever.
The judges even had yard winning the fight which is rediculous he only one 1 round at most and even That round wasn't clear on who won.
The fact at 38 beterbiev faced all of that and still won is pretty impressive.

    • Edward Elric
      Edward Elric Month ago +4

80% of artur's punches are arm punches, but he still hurt people badly with them lol.
The guy got that weird bones Density.
The first time I thought beterbiev was crazy talented was when he destoyed a prime alexandr gvozdyk.
And gvozdyk was no joke he was one of those fighters who was trained by lomachenko father for most of his amateur career, he was a medalist in the Olympic, he had ko power, speed and was in his prime.
And he was a new champion just dethroned Adonis and nearly ended his life him and ended his career. And people thought he was the future.
And Arthur went in there and just ended his reign before it even began and absolutely tortured gvozdyk for many rounds until he koed him, and gvozdyk immediately retired after that fight.

Froch retired on a high after beating Groves age 38, Artur, has no intention of giving up the gloves, massive respect to him. Seems a lovely man, too. Strong as a bloody ox .🐂 I do recall Callum Johnson knocking him down to canvas so he is not unbeatable, saying that Artur then went into mad mode and finished Johnson off Rd 4. Age is what will do it. I hope I'm wrong. My prediction, Bivol beats him in a unification. Hope it happens this year . Boxing politics may mean Artur is nearly 40 by rime they fight. P.s. massive respect, Yarde 🙏, no amateur experience, to put in that performance, takes 2 to fight, this one was incryedible 👏 👌

@Diosdado Camiloza yarde can handle Power for few rounds. What he can't handle Is a decent jab and a decent boxer. He Is average. Then if he meets a good boxer he det destroyed like Yesterday or like the Kovalev fight.

    • Alessandro Silvestri
      Alessandro Silvestri Month ago

@David Morell yarde wasn't in the wrong game, he Just have non a set of skills, he can't make adjustements, he have no distance control, good defense ecc... He has no other chance than marching forward and trade punches, being open to his opponents punches. If he face a bum then he has Easy game, if he face a decent opponent he lose.

    • Alessandro Silvestri
      Alessandro Silvestri Month ago

He was trying that uppercut without any successo. So why throw It again and from such long distance? Because yarde Is average. He doesn't belong to this level and his loss to every boxer a bit Better than his habitual opponents level tells a lot about how average he is

That was another great performance from Artur. 💪 It was game over once he started timing Yarde, who had good speed and power. Boxing fans must have Beterbiev-Bivol 🇷🇺 or at least Beterbiev-Canelo in 2023.

Yarde is a beast! Nothing short of impressive how Berterbiev was able to smother Yarde in that fashion. I think that stoppage was fair, he had more in him but they are a team and decided to save their fighter and that's okay. The only belt left is held by Bivol.

@Old Ironsides Not biased, I'm a boxing fan, not casual, and latinamerican, so neutral in terms of nationality. And those are judges of an event organized in the UK... Credibility is so low right now, If I have a round wrong I can assure you it is by very little, I have a couple of decades on this... And I already heard the opinions of some other people also neutral and related to box for longer time than me, that I trust, and we match, most of them had it 4-3 in favor of Artur Beterbiev, none in favor of Yarde

    • The Dirty Trader
      The Dirty Trader Month ago

@cheogt If the fight ends in round 7. Yarde wins. So it is irrelevant. Regardless if judges are incorrect and corrupt. I had Jared Gordon beating paddy 30-27. But my opinion is irrelevant Paddy won.

      cheogt Month ago +2

@The Dirty Trader I don't think is irrelevant, it was in the UK!! if you know what I mean, so the cards of the boxing fans are the real ones. So far, most I heard had it 4-3 , some 5-2 in favor of Beterbiev, and none in favor of Yarde. So another robbery was in process... Shame to the brit boxing organizations, It's getting remarkable even in an already corrupted sport.

What an amazing fight. I think it would be an easier fight for Beterbiev but Yarde surprised me. He had a great heart and was doing good. What I don’t understand are the scorecards. Yarde was on two cards ahead only one got Beterbiev ahead. For me a complete misunderstanding. Even though Yarde won maybe two rounds, it was not more. I’m looking forward to Beterbiev vs Bivol and hope this fight will happen maybe this year, even though I doubt it. Also I’m interested in Yardes next fights.

  • WarEnjoyer5000
    WarEnjoyer5000 Month ago +123

This fight was so entertaining, a classic if you will. Yarde's biggest mistakes were 1, not establishing a good jab, and 2, letting himself get trapped against the ropes in exchanges. Yarde's counter left hook was good, but Beterbiev has a chin of granite. Great stoppage that saved Yarde from possibly serious brain damage. Heart of a lion from Yarde but Beterbiev is a different beast.

    • WarEnjoyer5000
      WarEnjoyer5000 Month ago

@James Caleb Guess what, if Yarde used his jab to control the pace and didn't lose his cool as soon as he hits beterbiev clean, then he would have had way more success than he did have. Beterbiev put him there, but Yarde could have changed that fact if he was calmer under pressure and controlled the range.

@James Caleb Sure pal. But it doesn't mean that Yarde couldn't have had more success of he used a jab and didn't get caught in the rope sin exchanges. Granite chin, fitness of a greek god, amazing ring IQ and punches that would put down a horse. Yarde had a lot of heart and really tried his best, but Artur...WOW. A true great, and a real champion. The TKO was really the culmination of 8 rounds of severe beatdowns.
Aw and like Maderna did, Yarde also spat out his gum shield twice in the fight to buy more time. But unlike in the Moderna fight, the referee didn't deduct a point.

This was a great great fight. I'm so impressed with Anthony Yarde and the skill, power and determined effort he showed in every round of this battle.
But I'm doubly impressed with Artur Beterbiev at 38 years old. His skill, power, determination heart and strength, endurance and pure grit in the midst of a proper shoot out. Some mad hard shots were thrown by both men and they were both rocked multiple times, but what I expected to happen unfortunately did and that was that Yarde would eventually crumble under the constant onslaught of Beterbiev. Nuf respect to Yarde though because he hit Beterbiev with every kitchen sink in the street, but he was also going to get the same back and I couldn't see him lasting the distance in that situation. Was a good stoppage in my book by Tunde because Yarde was going to get seriously hurt over the next minute and at least he gets his stock raised and lives to hopefully fight for the championship again in the not too distant future and achieve the goal.
The respect Beterbiev gave him in the post fight interview was so good to hear because he knew he'd been in a war...and that was exactly what he trained for and it showed.
Artur Beterbiev is undoubtedly a worthy unified light heavyweight champion👑🥊.
Beterbiev's inevitable unification fight with Bivol will be a real test for both fighters due to their opposing styles as you covered.
Yes it'll be a much harder fight for Bivol than the Canelo or Ramirez fight because Beterbiev is a much more aggressive and hard punching stalker fighter who has more strength, stamina, skill and in fight tactics than people might expect ....even at an increasingly advancing 38 years of age...but he is definitely hittable.
But Bivol, though not as strong is so fast of foot, angles and punch combinations, he also has great stamina and ring craft. If Bivol can endure the high and intense pace for 12 rounds and not significantly slow down and keep moving in and out of range then I think he'll win on points via majority or split decision....if not he will get stopped late rounds by tko decision.
I'll stick my neck on the block right now and go for a Bivol win👍🏾
