My roommate who isn't a wrestling fan was casually in the room when I had the Rumble on. Jokingly said "ya know what, this guy is my pick, he's going the distance." When he saw Gunther. Roommate then ended up being so impressed by Gunther that after the Rumble he literally asked specifically to see more Gunther matches and we ended up staying up all night watching him vs Sheamus vs Dunne, both Dragonov matches, hell even his match against Will Osprey in Defiant Wrestling, and my roommate now has decided Gunther is his favorite wrestler because of the fact he literally could watch some chops and hard strikes without wincing.
@DJ Kurupt ???
Almost like people actually prefer the old school masculine, punching, chopping, slamming manly form of wrestling over the modern day flippity dippity turning classic finishers into basic moves that can be used 15 times a match wrestling
@v b idk that sound believable AF to me. I mean, I don't watch gymnastics but when I see clips online of people flipping, I know I'm impressed. Sounds to me like your just casting doubt cause you read something that doesn't line up with the way you think or see it and you'd rather trash others than accept that alternative opinions exist. But that's none of my business.
@Alejandro Frangini that was a good Chamber. Decent start to her fandom!
Jey walking out was so unexpected, but the more I thought about it, it made sense. Jey was beaten into submission by Roman. Seeing someone he just accepted be brutalised broke him.
Yep. He literally saw the abuse and the fact his “family” Roman was just gonna keep asking for more.
@sheriff draws or what if after losing the tag titles to Owens and Zayn at mania, Jey celebrates w/ them and when Jimmy sees this that starts an Uso v Uso feud?
@R Smitty no Dewayne
I also think he saw Sami stand up to Roman and felt a bit jealous.
@Ms. Dawn Keyballs how 🤣 he literally walked out n turned his back on them what are u watching ? 😆
I felt it the moment Jey's heart broke. I actually teared up when he was walking away so conflicted and broken. Whatever he gets paid, its not enough
I love this storyline, I hope they beat Sami more.
Not the real Santa Clause?
@3WR I looked it up turns out it was both jimmy driving under influence hey driving while intoxicated
What..a ..MARK
@Production employee people cry after every season of “this is us“. People just get so much enjoyment out of hating on wrestling and its fans.
The ending with Sami turning on the Bloodline was gold. Even though Sami leaving the bloodline was inevitable, it was still heartbreaking to watch, especially when Jey who accepted Sami in the family and walked out on the bloodline after they beat up Sami
i mean jey already said he considered sami like a brother, and that ley he was ready to give to sami signaled he was ready to fully accept him as a member of the bloodline, and not just the honorary uce.
Sami turned on Roman not the bloodline. He even gave his brother a Canadian sorry for his action.
Greatest moment of the night. The pay off to the story was a chef kiss. 10/10 from me
I really hope Cody takes the Tribal chief down once and for all .
Sami turned on Roman; after months of proving his worth and Roman refusing to accept him, Sami realized that Roman just used him.
It doesn't help Heyman was being the bird on Romans shoulder.
Tomorrow's raw is going to be awesome with what they do with this, but good on Sami for realizing that he was being played.
I actually enjoyed the Pitch Black match as a one-time concept. Being under the UV light didn't detract from anything and was WAY better than that red lighting The Fiend used.
Felt like it was just a ad for Mtn Dew
Howdy did miss its on the botches . Wasnt even close to hitting la night
It was a stupid match and I bet it was Bray's idea. The guy wants to make B grade horror movies he should go and do that.
Personally I disliked it, but I understand people liking it. LA got decimated, but if they treat him right from here on out it won’t matter.
The dirt sheets were out to get it as soon as it was announced. WWE does loads of gimmick matches which are almost always glorified street fights and this was one of them.
Hi guys! Just a note, as always, to say if you’re getting no audio it’s not us, it’s Clip-Share. Always give it a few minutes and it will catch up. But I totally appreciate that it’s quite frustrating. Thanks for the love as always!
W
@RECKON BEAU MATHEBULA .
That shirt deserves a GOLDEN UP!!!
where do iget that shirt?!?! i google searched and nada
Justice for Bazel Simon but the T-shirt of warm and Fuzzy in my tum tum is a must have
Cody winning, not a surprise, Samy helping Kevin, excellent, but I don't how many of us had Jay walking out on the Bloodline.
And because of that, I am seeing a lot of people pulling for Jey to be considered to take the titles (or at least one of them) from Roman. Just excellent all around.
I see Sammy Vs Jimmy Vs Reigns at Mania
Nobody
He’s not. He’ll rejoin bloodline at EC when Sami takes on reigns for the universal title cause I do think he gets stripped for the wwe title soon and that’ll set up sami/owens vs usos at mania
my hopium was that either jey or sami takes the universal championship off of reigns night 2, after cody is the one to actually give the first pin to the tribal chief. idk. its hard to tell who in the hell actually dethrones him first. but i do know by the end of night 2, everything he has will come crumbling down.
Patt and Corey bring out the worst in each other and I loved it. They just kept feeding off each other on commentary all night.
@MrTommygunz0482 Cole and pat are awesome and the best commenting duo today
Yes, but it isn’t like Saxton, they actually make it funny. I like Bryon, but he didn’t mesh well with Corey.
@EagleLeft yeah, I couldn't handle them together every week but for big shows they make each other better honestly
I loved their natural banter. It was definitely very strategery
I couldnt wait to tune into ups and downs. This Royal Rumble was historic. Even the people that didn't win the Royal Rumble got their spotlight.
Gunther is one of my favourites right now. Legendary performance last night. People will talk about that final 2 for a while. Just so talented 💯.
@BamaBoii haha good one. Roman will bury him too after he's done with Cody
Imagine Vince wanted to bury him and send him back to NXT 💀
He needs knee pads
The massive heat Roman & The Bloodline received brought me back to the greatest days of pro wrestling. Man they’re absolutely killing it.
This felt like a “Keep It Simple Stupid” “Trust The Plan” approach by HHH and WWE. Just keep telling the story and don’t distract the audience from those two main stories with bloodline and Cody
@banzaibrunch HHH made Gargano champ for a long time on his brand. The brain cells he has are in single digits and less than 5.
@Robert L more like MJF level heat.
@Robert L can you imagine the pop Sami is going to get in Montreal now? They might need a new roof if he's involved in anything that night
Then they even managed to screw that up. Why would I root for #30 when #1 overcame so much more? Awful writing, terrible match
The angle after the main event is the best ever ending I have witness. It was masterpiece cinema. I give it golden up
Always wait for the wwe copywrite logo at the end.
Zayn and Owens are gonna win the RAW tag titles at some point 🤟
I just had a feeling the rumble was the end of the line for Sami working with the bloodline but I did not see that being how it happened until Roman handed him the chair and said you do it. I knew he wouldn't participate in the destruction this time and winced at what was coming. The cherry on top was jey looking absolutely wrecked from what he was seeing. That set up a lot of different paths they can take which imo is why the end of the show was damn near perfection
@Neil Smith explain
The ending is even more brilliant remembering that Sami and Jey are the ones who retained the Raw tag titles last week. I could see the belts be put on them and that being used as the way to split the tag titles.
Maybe Jey doesn't show up for the title defence of the smckdown belts and that causes reigns to tell solo to take over or something. And maybe imperium beats then or the bloodline loses. And Jey takes the red titles to sami
It's not just that. The reaction from jey was also a callback to the night Roman destroyed both of them to make them acknowledge him. Long term storytelling at its finest because they show jey progression over the time and Sami changed his view of what should happen
Can we discuss the beauty of that last segment? It was Jey that fought Roman in the beginning before he finally caved and accepted him as his tribal chief. It was Jey that was so against Sami. He was the last to accept him. He stood for Sami at his trial... And he was the one to walk away without hurting Sami. It was just... a beautiful addition to this story. I can't wait to see what happens next with Sami, Kevin, Jey, and the Bloodline!
Gunther is definitely a future multiple time Wrestlemania main eventer. And I’d be down for him vs Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam or Wrestlemania 40 for The WWE Championship
I think these rumbles are a good example of HHHs booking style good solid few high points slightly predictable but in a refreshing comfortable way saving any swerves or shocks to draw attention to something that needs more attention
"Blue lights everywhere, I'm glad I washed these pants." Thanks for that, Pat.
Apparently Raquel Rodriguez is related to 40% of the Alamodome💀🤣🤣🤣🤣
Howdy Doody welcome to Texas 😂
Pat was a gem the entire night, but this line killed me 😆
That line killed me
I will be the most disappointed man in the world today, if the finishing angle doesn’t get an Golden Up (at least), legendary stuff!
Well, since it did, I guess now you can feel all warm and fuzzy in your tum-tum.
Weird thing to get all emotional about.
The logan/ricochet spot gets the golden for me. The bloodline stuff gets platinum
Romans facial expressions alone could take him to Hollywood.😂 He’s just so on point with whatever the story needs.
That post match angle was one of the most incredible things I've seen in forever. Everyone played their parts to sheer perfection. It gave me chills several times.
Glad the rock didn't come back - he would of ruined it
@Witt Von Witt Agreed...but that was the point of it all. They had to go so overboard that it forced Sami into acting to protect KO. Those superkicks...man....that was the line for me. Those were BRUTAL. Also the chair shots to Sami...yikes.
It was kinda hard to watch for me. It was intense.
I actually really enjoyed the Pitch Black match, visually it looked great and Bray can't struggle against someone in his first match back of his first feud
Right. Great idea but didn’t do much for me.
Knight lost then Bray should make him into a guy in the 6.
The Kofi botch looked painful. Hope he's ok
I have to say the bloodline Samy story has instantly become one of the best storylines in WWE history for me. On somewhat par with Bryan vs “The Authority”
My friend: "What did you do Sunday morning?" Me: I refreshed my Clip-Share non stop for 4 hours waiting for Simon to up those downs
Cody Rhodes may have got his moment but mad respect for Walter for being the Iron Man & being the MVP of Royal Rumble match . Hope he will win the next years Rumble match
For anyone thinking they look cool by still calling him Walter is a whackjob. Gunther already said he prefers the new name.
He will FOREVER BE WALTER
He should win the belt after he hits the gym.
His wrestling name NOW is Gunther but his old one and his actual first name is Walter. Walter Hahn.
So for once, everyone truly wins.
So play nicely
Give him some time and more years and he will eventually.
The ending of this PPV was the BEST thing in wrestling in a long time . Nicely done👏👏👏
I think Sami and Jey need an Oscar, an Emmy, and a Tony for the drama they convey in this bloodline storyline
Hopefully a Slammy award too
The winners of the Rumble were predictable but the way it ended was great.Seeing Sami and Bloodline in two ways was a bit heartbreak, but in the end it was all I needed.
Gunther showed out. This man has transformed his body and now he’s getting the recognition he deserves.
What's more terrifying is, I would not be surprised if he has a bit more bulking up on his menu. He shed the weight, then regains it as muscle.
The ending segment of the Bloodline was pure gold need a Golden UP Simon.
@Mihai Mercenarul It was great. What were you watching?
It was meh
I loved how much fun the commentators were having during the whole night.. and also i swear that the Drew Sheamus tag team and the finisher they did with both claymore and brogue are the best thing ive seen and it was brutal
What I enjoyed about both rumbles is that WWE did not use past wrestlers to get pops. It felt like WWE wanted to show of the talent it has. Good show!
it was pretty predictable but for this rumble in particular predictable did not mean it was safe or bad. it was all about the storylines, not just the spectacle of the event, and i absolutely loved that.
Gunther's performance, Cody winning, The bloodline segment. I will say it's a pretty solid show.
Ghunter had an amazing performance in the Rumble and I honestly believe 2023 will be an amazing year for him and the bloodline segment after their match was just pure cinema that you could watch it over and over. I was warm and fuzzy in my tum tum. So good 👌
😅
Overall, I really enjoyed this Rumble. I thought they made some really great decisions and planted the seeds for some potentially great long term story telling. Makes me excited to see what the road to WrestleMania will produce.
Cody Rhodes Winning the Rumble and All of the Bloodline stuff, just top notch wrestling!
Best PPV WWE has put out in a while. I think I might start watching weekly again, especially after I didn't care for the Bloodline storyline for a bit but it grew on me and that ending was the WWE of old that I fell in love with 20 years ago. Thank you HHH
Simon really said "this made you want to go crazy with your fingers and we and we all want to do that" . And he couldn't be more right
the end was so unexpected, i honestly was surprised with the Jey thing, it made me remind on how he was against Roman back in 2020 and now I need a Fatal 4 Way on mania
That last segment, honestly, one of the bestbi have seen in any wrestling company for years, long term storytelling pays off when done right and this was perfection. Also loved the give me an up signs throughout the night, next year we want Simon in the Rumble.
Gunther's performance was the highlight of the night for me. He definitely won me over. Dude's a beast.
@Patrick Evans a round of applause must go to all involved, I heard they had a big party afterwards when things got out of hand fast leading to a straightner between Vince and Los Lotharios over a leaked video of Vince having a pee pee. He was looking to clean house but dribbled
Speaking of beasts, I seriously hope that Gunther and Brock Lesnar have a match against each other sometime in the future.
@Scorpion Axeman Gunther put on one hell of a performance
@Scorpion Axeman tbh he’s so stiff when he wrestles and it surprises me no one even notices :/
Nah, Gunther sucks
Sami had no choice but to turn. He even tried pleading after so I like how they showed him being conflicted.
The bloodline segment was literally the highlight of the Royal rumble
That thing was Sami at the end was like watching the wrestling equivalent of watching Old Yeller. We all knew this was going to happen but still got me right in the feels.
Pat and Corey were amazing on commentary. Bloodline and Sami were epic. It’ll be interesting to see what happens going forward and how they will add Cody to the mix. We do need Sami vs Reigns before that mania match tho
Simon got my feelings about the show perfectly. Was it the best PPV wrestling ive scene in a vaccum? No. However, I cannot think of a show in recent memory (years) that has made me say I cannot miss upcoming TV.
Was hoping for Big E. Hope he's doing well.
I hope his rehab is going well for him.
I thought he’d show too
I was hoping as well
I really liked the Pitch Black match. Though it was a big advert, I actually know LA Knight, we used to work together back in the mid 2000s. Really cool seeing him in a match at the Royal Rumble
Glad I watched this by myself because I had legit tears in my eyes at the end.
The bloodline story deserves an Emmy
I loved the pitch black match. It was way too short but so was the match between Bianca and Alexa. The ppv could have stood to be an hour longer. They could have fleshed out the short matches that way and worked in another match.
The commentary team was on fire. The carried the show for me. Corey Graves commentary🙌🏾, Cole is effortless awesome & Patt the wild card
Always love your work simon. WWE needs to pair you at the commentary table with Pat Macaffey for next years Royal Rumble😆
Ive got to say HHH did a helluva job with the booking, bringing back superstars former characters.. fantastic 😄
Gunther was the MVP of the Royal Rumble 🔥
Absolutely! You watch the crowd's reaction when he shows up on Smackdown this week. I bet you it's gonna be something.
He showed everyone why he’s the ring general. 🔥
Gunther was the Iron Man last night! One of the most impressive Royal Rumble performances I have ever seen🔥👍👍
I just love all the moments from this PLE. None of the matches were particularly great, but the moments throughout the show were so amazing.
Obviously you just can’t write the Bloodline story any better than it’s being written right now and I’m so excited to see where it goes from here.
Even though we knew Cody was returning and it was obvious that he was gonna win, it was still surreal to see.
Gunther damn near going coast to coast was amazing.
Edge returning and Beth spearing Rhea was incredible.
Words can’t describe how excited I am for Asuka and the reintroduction of her killer clown Kana gimmick. I really hope she’s being setup for whichever women’s champ match that Rhea doesn’t go after. Asuka returning and the pop she got after removing her mask had me so hype.
I was also laughing for like 20 minutes at Brock mushing the ref over the barricade 😂
The pitch black match was unique and it worked as intended. Watched with my gf she’s less than a casual fan and she really liked it.
Lol another fake story.
@Bjahn's spoken words the purpose of business is to get more of matches like that make less than casual fans tune in that’s what it’s for
I enjoyed the event regardless of the ups and downs especially what happened after the main event. It was Great storytelling and a great moment. Definitely looking forward to seeing what happens next in regards to The Bloodline.
The post-match storyline for Samy and the Bloodline... that may be the best thing I've seen in years. I can't recall the last time I heard a pop like that just from a sheer story standpoint. No big entrance. No kick out. Just a choice and a chair and it was the most monstrous pop I've heard.
Love the whole event and some of the matches being short was good to break up the rumbles and the main event . Even though both rumbles the winners were predictable the right ones won and it was a great event way better then last year's . I am excited to see what's next leading to mania
I think you can pull different endings for the end, and it still wouldn't be how wonderful that was. Absolutely a masterpiece
Personally I liked the pitch black match, I think we need more of these neon matches and I'm always a Bray wyatt fan so it gets an up
I'm glad Gunther got his due in this match considering the first time he was in the Rumble, he lasted less than a minute.
I thought that someone would take Rey's spot. I wished that it got addressed.
Btw... Jey walking out... I was not surprised. I always had 2020 in the back of my head when it came to Jey's relationship with Roman. I do have to say that oh my gosh, that post match moment is the reason why I watch wrestling.
Zelina walking out dressed like Juri from Street Fighter was the highlight of the night for me. The upcoming Street Fighter 6 is going to have some sort of color commentator feature to simulate the atmosphere for a fighting game tournament match in-game and they said that Zelina is actually going to be recording commentator lines for that feature? I had no idea she was actually into fighting games, so that was some pretty fun news to me. I hope she does a good job.
I was thinking Kofi might have gotten hurt and that’s why he didn’t go back. Maybe he did just not land it properly so they just said he should go to the back which would be much better news. Having Cody Rhodes be 30 was a little disappointing since they had already announced his return we knew it had to be him after 29 came out
But that ricochet Paul moment was insane!!
I think those two were going for a fusion. The resulting wrestler would have wiped out the field in no time. Luckily for everyone involved (and unfortunately their ribs) the attempt failed.
This was an absolutely great event. Loved every bit of it.
I liked the pitch black thing. I just sat through a rumble and it was a nice change of pace highlighting the spectacle that is bray wyatt. The 6 on his head, the paint change, the whole howdy firefly moment. IT was like watching a trailer for what is gonna happen with his story
Sami. Kevin. Jey. Heyman. Solo. Jimmy. Roman.
Every single one of them deserve a medal for this entire 2 year bloodline story, and especially after that closing segment of the Rumble...
They all play a vital part, they all are tremendous at what they do!
My only complaint with the Rumbles is how Cody and Rhea entered at 30 & 1. It made it seem even more obvious that they were gonna win to me. Other wise I’m very satisfied with the two Rumbles this year.
As an AEW fan , I'm happy for Cody 👏
Pat McAfee one night of commentary was better than all the commentary combined over the past decade. I was actually laughing something you don't get with the robot commentary WWE usually has.
As long as this story line isn’t just ruined (possible) Jey walking out will be one of the most remembered and talked about moments of this era.
Jimmy being the one to start the beatdown on Sami when the time came was exactly what I predicted way back and it was done awesomely.
I loved watching the literal first 5 minutes where Pat clearly catches the announce team off guard. It feels like Cole was legit so excited, and then it just rolled into the mens rumble.
Really good night
The storytelling at the end was on point. The pop from the chair shot, the boos from the super kick, and the crowd f-bombing Reigns. Ladies and gentlemen that is how you generate heat.
I was hyped all day Saturday for this event, and for the most part it delivered. The highlights were the Men's Royal Rumble match. Having Gunther start as No. 1 and go the distance was an amazing thing to watch. The same with Rhea Ripley in the Women's Royal Rumble match. This is how you build superstars. Props to Rhea Ripley for making history as the 1st Woman to win a Royal Rumble match as a No. 1 entrant. If I'm not mistaken, she's also the youngest Royal Rumble winner in history.
Enough can't be said about the aftermath of the Undisputed Title Match. The agony displayed by Sammy Zayn, the POP from the crowd when he hit Roman with the chair, and the conflict within Jey Uso, who didn't join in on the attack on Sami. Jey was the most resistant to Samy joining the Bloodline, now he's the one most resistant to attack Samy. Everyone felt the emotions that the wrestlers and storyline wanted to invoke. Amazing, amazing job everyone! Now I'm waiting for Raw to start in about 25 minutes!
Simon! You are amazing. Love everything you do!! Golden Up!!!!
Such a good show. I enjoyed the Bray stuff too, even if it wasn't his best stuff. The long term storytelling is hitting on all cylinders right now.
Simon I'm so glad that Ups and Downs exist. Please reassure me that the retro ones will return soon.
I must say, very well done on the post main event, I thought solo would leave with Sammie but absolutely love that it was Jay that couldn't handle what went down. If anything maybe Jimmy but Jay being the one was brilliant.
Evil Clown Kana reveal was the hightlight of the night. I lost my damn mind when it happened. Double Golden Up.
That "premium live event " was great last night. That Bloodline storyline have to be the best in the 15 years or so. Everything about it is must-see TV !
Already said this a few months ago but the same thing happened to Jay. Remember when there was no crowds and Jay didn’t want to join the bloodline and had an I quit match against Roman to join the bloodline? Roman got him to quit and join by nearly killing jimmy uso. Main event Jay will be back and possibly it will be him that gets the Rock to come in and stop Roman. I expect Roman to get more paranoid with the rest of the bloodline after all this. Rock will probably pop up at mania and stop him and help Cody win the belt. Long term story writing right there 😝
My friends aren't into wrestling but the ending with sami was so good they audibly gasp and they got interested about the story of the bloodline. Such a great ending to the pay-per-view
I went with some friends who wasnt wrestling fans and they had the time of their life! The crowd was electric last night the rumble! It was wild!
Yeah that ending of the rumble overshadowed everything that was master story telling. The way the crowd was engaged was insane.
Agreed on the Pitch Black match, complete and total let down, the men rumble was AMAZING tho, and the ending with the bloodline was..something else man, the crowd reaction to Sami hitting Roman was deafening and will live with me forever lol
Not a perfect event but I was entertained more often than not. Was happy with both rumbles too.
Thank you Simon! For all the negativity out there, you were successful in bringing out the positives of the match, which were so very many.
i loved the whole rollercoaster ride we went on for the entire PLE
The commentary when piper Niven got in was amazing
Something you mentioned at the start. They listed 90 seconds for the rumble. 2 minutes is better, but they do have to get through two of these matches, so I'm OK with the 90 seconds.
The live crowd was great to be a part of. Being there live, the ending wasn't the greatest way to walk out. Usually, you leave the Rumble on a high with the Rumble winner basking in the glory etc. The beat down was a bit hard to end on, but from a story perspective it made sense and does set up some great stories for WM. It was definitely a different way to end the show and kick off the Road to WrestleMania.
That ending deserved a Platinum UP! 👍🏽
I also saw so many bumps last night, I was genuinely worried.
Kofi hit his head it looked like, brock threw guys out and they almost landed on their head, I know rhea got a DDT and she landed on the top of her head hard, and then Kevin’s head was slammed into the steel steps twice. And my friend got a concusion from getting hit in the back of the head
I had a few problems.
-They focused way too much on entrances and we missed out on the Gunther/Brock showdown and a lot of in ring stuff.
-Only one legend Booker T? You could tell people were on their feet on the countdowns just to be disappointed by the lame people like alpha academy, and all the other lames.
-Cody being at the 30 spot? That takes away the excitement of who's number 30 cause after Logan came out we all knew who was coming.
It was a decent rumble just lacked stars because well most of the legends have past or can't even walk.
Ok, you need to shooooosh about mah Bois the Alpha Academy.
I loved it when Green got eliminated and Cory said "I didn't even get a chance to make fun of her husband"
The commentary was on point all night.
Godfather Part III moment for me in this show because I went in kind of underwhelmed, but the ending was storytelling 101. Simple, effective, and its hard to top when wrestling storylines hit marks this high.
No matter how many times we've seen the rumble we will still watch Simon Miller doing ups and downs
I had such fun watching the Rumble. Happy for Cody and Mami.
