There’s something so uncanny about these conversations. It’s like an AI approximation of human dialogue. It flows conversationally perfectly, yet says nothing. I’m choosing to call it liminal dialogue. It’s mesmerising and eerie and beautiful and freaky all at once, yet none at any point.

    • Nameless

      Liminal means infinite.

you lack dialogue to gain insight from surreal works such as this if you think it amounts to nothing, maybe it cancels out.

it says a lot more than nothing and your claim that they dont is sad. maybe the real art is the anger i feel at this comment and not the video, nope cant be youre missing it. this comment actively detracts value from the video with its poor interpretation.

This feels both comforting and familiar but also entirely incomprehensible-like trying to remember a dream, or having a dream made up of jumbled memories. There’s something profound to how the two individuals interact with the world and with each other-despite all of their questions and circular conversations, they still think their reality is perfect, and I wonder if it has to do with the fact that they’re together.
Their reality only really has cohesion because they’re able to interact with one another, but it only has meaning because we, the audience, can watch it

Most of this stuff that's actually any good is a mixture of the two. AI writing is great at unintentional random zingers, but the continuity and overall construction is much better if curated by a human afterwards.

but this is one of the most "realistic" video made by bill wurtz

That's actually just how memory works. Every time we "play back" a memory in our mind, we unintentionally alter it slightly, and that version sticks.
I'm no expert on this but it's probably more evident with dreams since they don't conform to what we expect from the real world, anyways.

I love the amount of detail you put into these animations. For example, the "yes yes restaurant" sign had Chinese characters that also translated to "yes yes." Another one I loved was the "Welcome to Perfect Heights" trashcan you had at the end right after one of the characters said, "everything is perfect". It is impressive since these stories kinda depict how the thoughts work. One character is like intruding thoughts; the other is your subconscious trying to understand it. Can I have a standwich now?

Is perfection incapable of change? If something is perfect then changing it would imply that it has become imperfect, but change is certain. Are we not looking far enough? The world as we see it is constantly changing, and yet the planet has been moving in relatively the same manner longer than anything we could record. So we can see that the world is perfect. We can know roughly how it became perfect, and theorize how it will eventually be made imperfect, but in the present it is perfect. Is that to say that the past is building perfection, and the future will always be unmaking it? Of course there may come a point beyond the future that becomes a new present that is in itself perfection again. The ouroboros eating to grow, constantly in flux while staying the same. So I guess time is constant, and therefore perfect in consistency.

Bill legitimately sounds like an audio book narrator. He is also really skilled in 3d animation and music.

This is nonsense but somehow sounds exactly like my last 2 braincells having a conversation at 3 am. How do you propose we go up? Going up is the one thing we never learned to do. Oh well. Sit and consume.

I like the detail that every store in the parking lot is on the sign. There's something so weirdly nice about these videos, the dialogue is kind of surreal yet somehow feels perfectly natural

I’d go to an art exhibition just to see this stuff. I’m thankful for Bill and for Clip-Share for allowing artists to share weird stuff like this and find their weird audiences. Very cool.
