Maybe I didn't get it, but why don't you use 2 (or more) normal servers instead of one monster-server?

I wonder if you would got better time if you would let the system run in Quad channel memory mode. I had some issues with Quad Channel memory and xmp on x99 5820k but giving the ram more voltage made the issue go away. While minus the 2 hours if fiddle with voltage to the ram phase control

I'd much rather have a 6950x than a 9900k? Quad channel memory, 40 pcie lanes, and 25mb L3 cache vs. 16mb cache? The 6950x is the better option.

the I frames are the main frames. H264 and h265 can use only I frams, or I, P and B frames, that, true, make harder some editing, but not always if you know how not. the B an d P frames are the culprit. but you can use lossless intraframe only h254 or 265, or any fast lossless codec with good compression.

Is there any reason not to try using a higher core count cpu and using virtualization to make several render vms, with only the optimal number of cores for each? Would that not result in multiple renders running at the same time and potentially reduce render times more than you can by just putting in a higher clocked cpu?

HOUSE OF MANA 3 days ago

at the very fringes, to which you've just jumped off of when talking about taking a render process and splitting those up in virtualized machines, it would come down to how the software handles being spoofed like that. At that point, each virtualized machine runs on a completely separate instance of each OS - which is a much different picture.
adobe I doubt would ever try to allow even entertaining such a complex scheme given that people requiring that much render power would look to ASIC approaches - definitely bespoke. not a vanilla consumer product that Adobe's suite is.

Oh my God I hate this new Era on Clip-Share comment section. Like those me: saying shit versus Linus: saying shit are funny. Oh hell no, I fucking hate it, just because people just quote the video. Not actually make it humouristic or funny in any kind. Plus those lazy ass comments takes up to 80% of all comments, so yeah, Clip-Share is dead. All because of millennials..

So I am in a bit of confusion here, at the start of the video I thought they were using GPU rendering and were going to change a GTX 980 to RTX???? but after the build was done they were complaining about not speeding up and having the CPU maxed out which sounds like CPU rendering. If they are doing GPU transcoding, I hear that the Quadro P2000 is the sweet spot for the most trans-codes at a time for the money. The gaming GPU's are restricted to two trans-codes at a time. I hope they do another video, and clear up which type of rendering they were trying to improve. I would think that the final transcode would be GPU, and all the video work would be CPU rendering. For my DVD transcoding I use Xmedia Recode, my bad eye's can't tell the difference from GPU or CPU coding.
