I have been scrolling through the videos for a while now and I just found this and I do not know what to say. This is probably the best documentary I have ever watched, so inspiring and somehow you guys managed to capture all the magic that is within our own possibilities. I was born in Siberia, migrated to Germany and grew up there, then moved to Spain and am now in the process of moving to the united states. I have been dealing with anxiety for a long time and can so deeply connect with so much of your content but this really made me cry, I feel encouraged to continue with everything that I wish for myself. This film will carry me along a long way, thank you very much guys!

I am so glad Thomas said that at the end about Wim’s real reason for not showing them the methods was because he wanted them to understand that it isn’t the method, it’s the belief and the human drive that makes this possible… because half way through this, all I could think of was my dad’s method with me growing up: every time I would ask him to show me how to do something technically challenging, he’d agree and then get me started and make me do it my own way. I’d say “show me YOUR way” and he would laugh and make me finish. He would never show me his way until I did it my own, start to finish. After I got to be in my 20s and had a child, he told me my son would ask me how to do things one day and that it would be up to me whether I leaped up and did them for him, showed him how I had done it or gave him the tools and motivation to do it on his own. He said you always wanted to do things my way, and every time you figured it out on your own, that’s exactly what you were doing because I had to figure these things out on my own growing up, and it made me appreciate them.
    Thanks for the lessons dad!

Actually even if some of us search for it, we (especially westerners) don’t know what real discomfort is.

Super inspiring. We should do cold immersion as a part of our physical education starting elementary school. Nothing prepares you for the stresses of life including enrolling into a university. So many of us lose eyesight from a combination of stress and bad reading habits during that period of our life.
Started doing cold showers a month ago inspired by Andrew Huberman's podcast and then I started watching Wim's videos and now I'm trying to figure out how to do cold immersion instead. I got used to cold showers already and it's winter.

@steft horman how does an imaginary thing have real symptoms? anxiety is both a feeling and a disorder, the disorder being an overabundance of the feeling that is consistently reached due to seemingly unworthy reasons. That can be caused be a real chemical imbalance in the brain, this is proven. long standing trauma as well can cause anxiety without any thoughts leading to it, just a reaction to something. With how many people suffer and have serious symptoms from this, as well as the amount of research that has gone into it, its unlikely something that can be gotten over easily, and to deny the existence of it by calling it "not real" is simply foolish.

    • steft horman
      steft horman 2 months ago

@agressapenguin no it doesn't exist, the physical symptoms comes from the mindset, it's like how placebo helps alot of people, just because it has an symtom, doesn't mean it's real.

Okay, by far this has got to be my favorite Clip-Share video!! It's INSANE what you all went through! And hats off to the female who joined you all!! I've always known the power of the mind. but this takes it to a whole new level!! There's also the human spirit and the will to survive! I think those 3 elements (mind, body, spirit) truly can elevate one's consciousness beyond petty day-to-day things and allow us to keep moving forward in life and keep pressing on. Thank you Yes Theory team for sharing! This video should win some sort of short film award for best inspirational video EVER!!!

@Diana B also this why is giving birth suddenly a moment of the most pain a human can possibly endure, Id reckon it's not. There are other things more painful then to give birth which can be experienced by men as well.

Wim made into science books and still is a mystery in them because of what his experience represents im regards to human history. He is a mere example who choose to be exactly that, firstly for himself and beyond his initial grasp, for all humans and for the heritagr shared by all of us. Wim Hof is a unique human being and may he be blessed for his soul and his calm heart.

Some people grow up with parents that feed this kind of powerful mindset, others like Thomas have fearmongers for parents, notice how he mentions that "my mom will kill me". It isn't easy to break such a deep rooted idea planted by the very person who planted you on this earth. So props to Thomas for going through it anyways despite his fear, that is really powerful.

This is awesome. Right now I’m working hard to heal a lot of trauma, like many are. My childhood was dense, young adult years the same. My husband passed on during my pregnancy and I have our incredible infant son to look after. I commit my time to him and try to do my healing in ways that suite motherhood but I think taking a trip to do something like this and to study under someone would greatly aid me. May that manifest.

The "belly chest" thing he was talking about is legit for holding your breath. I'd like to preface this with saying I vape. I can't swim for more than two minutes without being out of breath. Yet, my personal record for holding my breath is just over three minutes and twenty seconds. I didn't use this strategy to achieve this personal record, but having done two minutes and twenty seconds with this strategy (I stopped not because I had to, but because I did not want to go for more), I can definitely see how "belly chest heart" can absolutely lead one to go over three minutes without breathing.
Again, I treat my lunges terribly on a daily basis. If I can do it, anyone can.

Gelato The Great You're truly ignorant if you think this is a "mind" thing and that 50lbs of fat and muscle means little for heat stability and retention. This is a thoroughly studied medical fact.

@Joel Badger Umm no, Thomas failed on the second thing they did. The entire point is to let your mind think about nothing and then you will not feel pain or any cold. He admitted afterwards that he was scared his hands were falling off the whole time and shit like that. That's the opposite of what you're supposed to do and that's why he had the worst reaction to it. I thought that was fairly clear.

Did anyone else notice how quiet the girl was compared to the guys when they were taking their first unprepared dip in the freezing water? I'm in love with that girl. How awesome it would be to have an adventurous partner like that! But don't mean to take any credit away from the guys. They were all amazing to take up the challenge.
I have been doing similar experiments with my body myself. I have recovered from serious illnesses without any medicine by merely relying on my will power, lots of fresh air, good food and exercise. This I've done even when I was almost delirious with high fever. Recent Covid 19 pandemic gave me another opportunity to experiment. Didn't care to get vaccinated, got infected with 2 variants of the virus, but recovered with very little difficulty. Our body certainly has more potential and resilience than what doctors would have us believe. (Why do l fall sick despite a possessing a robust constitution? It's because I wilfully expose myself to infections, to insect bites, like mosquitoes, ticks, bees, etc... that's how I get sick. The most reckless and stupid thing I've done is to get bitten by a nonpoisonous snake, without being completely sure that it was not poisonous. I don't go out looking to get stung or bitten, but I do my meditation practice wearing bare minimum clothing, sitting in forested areas, and don't move a muscle even if I'm bitten by insects or my balls are frozen stiff, until the process is complete).
