Angela’s purple gown looks reallly good on her. Sometimes purple colors overpower the one wearing it but for her, the color just made her look very glowing.
Angela Bassett is such a beautiful woman, she could wear nearly anything! But i really enjoyed the purple dress!
Agreed. She should have made Luke’s best dressed.
Only if we had it in a different fabric
i surprised myself in choosing Angela Bassett as my Best Dressed. She was lovely. Soft feminine hair & face and the color & design of the dress was fluid and flawless. That purse she carried was to die for!! As a purse collector, it was quite special.
~ The gorgeously sewn yellow dress Kerry Condon wore was splendid!!
~ Michelle Williams rarely appeals to me. I don't like her harsh look; pale pixie hair, pale face & red lips. It doesn't work. yuck girlfriend. Please change it up;, most especially that hard hair style!
There was so much long, long beautiful hair and I can't express how much joy that brings me!
Thank God long hair has come back in a big way!!!
Not a fan of Michelle Yeoh's shapeless white bag of a dress. Her face, hair and spirit are beautiful, just not the shapeless dress.
~ I am so OVER Jessica Rabbit's tired old bombshell uniform & hair. She's like Sophia Vergara who did the same predictable thing in her time. (prob still doing it.) I don't even 'see' her anymore. She's voided herself out. I have a Barbie gown almost just like hers.
~ Gaga is a gem of a human being. Love that Lady. Her talent, personality & humanity are unsurpassed.
Loved everything abt her Versasce dress but not the pointy bra. Don't like the pointy bra effect anywhere or on anyone, even Madonna.
~ Rhianna. I'm sorry but the publicity around her is always so OTT & full of fabricated hype far beyond reality.
She is paying a Publicity/PR team a fortune to generate that constant stream of hype. They're workin overtime trying to convey her as the greatest singer, style maven & mother of all & she just ain't all that.
Made some huge hits but not the level of star her Publicity pushes. The general public are unaware of the mechanism behind celebrity fame and how much is force fed to us.
Ever since Demi Moore bared her naked huge pregnant belly ages ago, women have been flaunting their pregnancies and I don't like it. An expectant mama is walking magic. Putting it out there is tasteless.
~ Florence Pugh turned me off when she walked onto the stage, right arm locked, finger holding dress open to show off her thigh even while announcing. I watched transfixed, seeing if she was going to let the darned dress go to greet the winner.
Too blatantly OBVIOUS. Trying too hard. I didn't mind the voluminous confection of a dress. It was very pretty, as is she; although uninspired re: bland drab dress color.
Somebody needs to tell Florence & all women; the allure is to leave people expectantly hoping & waiting for an accidental glimpse of something.
Again, we look back to that time Angelina Jolie made a to-do in her black dress emeralds moment, strategically staging her thigh.
Just let your reveal happen accidentally & naturally!!
Ladies when will you learn?
The beauty & sexiness is in what's hidden, NOT what you work so hard to FLAUNT.
I'm even more than over the deep, wide chest cleavage. Those fake boob silicone containers are not even attractive anymore.
😉
Yes, that's my favourite.
i was genuinely impressed at the fabric of hong chau’s prada gown. so many people walking onto carpets these days with wrinkled fabrics but she looks like a pale pink pillar of perfection. just the cherry on top of her stunning performance in “the whale”
The leather “tail” ruins it.
I was impressed by how boring and ugly it is.
My best dressed for this year’s Oscars!
I absolutely agree. One of my favourite looks of the night. The only thing I’d say is that it could have been accessorised better - in my opinion. But it was so beautiful
Hv it
I genuinely appreciate Hong Chau for her outfit choice. Her name is Hong ( means pink ) Chau (means pearl) and she picked the aodai collar. It’s such a meaningful outfit.
That is absolutely beautiful! Thanks for sharing that🥰
That's really interesting! Thanks for sharing 💕
Wow thanks for that. Beautiful and good to know!
i love that for her! i'm honestly just blown away by how seamless and perfectly tailored that column dress was - from afar it looks more like a long sweep of carved pearl than fabric on a body, which i didn't even know was possible. absolutely stunning.
I think Michelle’s dress would have stood out on a contrast color background and rug. The color they chose is just so horribly neutral. It washes out the fair skinned. It makes light dresses with detail fade into the background
Agreed!!
YES. Hate the beige carpet. Bring back the red!
I would like someone edit the carpet in the looks, to see how they were going to look originally (aparently the color change was a last moment thing and a lot of stylists didn't know)
@BNE S My qujibble with red is that there are many gowns in red and there's often a clash. I would love to know what colour Luke would suggest for the carpet.
I'm sure someone must have done this and I just need to find it, but I need to see these with a red carpet. All the whites are doing absolutely nothing for me. It's also washing a lot of people out. I also didn't love Janelle Monet's dress, but I was happy to see some color.
There should be part 2!! You missed so many great looks - Fan Bingbing, Halle Berry, Deepika Padukone, Cara Delevingne, and more.
Halle berry was good? It was ok at most
And Tems !!!
just started watching and got sad that he missed Cara lol she looked stunning, really
Omg Fan had my favorite gown of the night
Ram charan and jr ntr from RRR
I love how informed Luke is regarding fashion history, both ancient and modern, and how he weaves it into his critiques. Encyclopedic and engaging, rather than heavy-handed. We learn stuff watching you, Luke!

THANK YOU !!!!
I really liked Kate Hudson's silver sequined dress by Rodarte
I loved janelle monae gown fit her perfect
My pick was Mindy Kaling’s custom Vera Wang
I'm at that point in life where I wait for HauteLeMode's reviews of the red carpet fashion more than the event itself. 😂
I don’t care about the events at all, but I always watch his reviews. Love them
When I heard about the Oscars I had this same thought...
COngratulations to Sandra Oh for showing other celebrities how to wear an exciting and more rarely-seen colour on the awards carpet. Marigold orange is gorgeous and visible. No hiding behind black or white.
It was absolutely BREATHTAKING!
My favorite dress of the night!
Sandra oh went to my high school 😁
To be fair, not a lot of people would look good in that colour.
@Ashildr The Swift you're right, but most celebrities always go for something safe and boring.
i would love to hear your opinions on the after-party looks!!! some were even better than the oscar's carpet
Kate Hudson’s pink number was one of my favorites overall from the night !
Yes and that Jacket Rooney Mara added for me it was to die for.
can't wait for your after party fashion roast !
it's definitely coming!!
@HauteLeMode please try to include Deepika Padukone for your Indian audience 😭
@HauteLeMode please feature Deepika on it.
@HauteLeMode yes Deepika and of course more south asian celebs any time any where on this channel ❤❤❤
Everyone is in white. Red carpet definitely missing. Can you imagine how.much more striking all of these white dresses had been on crimson red?
Can we talk about the ugly carpet?
Ughhh I know. It looks like they rented a local hall. It feels more like a ‘DIY oscars red carpet’ themed party lol
Omg i knew there was something off with these pictures
It looks like high school students built it and weren’t any where near finished. The small molding on the bottom was cheap looking. I bet heads are rolling in the red carpet department designers!
It's grey :( I'm not living laughing loving
Can you do a part two? There were so many other looks I'd love to hear your take on! Cara Delevigne (loved her red dress!), Margot Robbie, Mindy Kaling, Michael B Jordan, Pedro Pascal (interested to hear your take on his tailoring), Paul Mescal, Ludwig Göransson, Deepika Padukone.
Or maybe even a Vanity Fair party looks video?
Yes, I’m disappointed he didn’t cover Mindy Kaling. I feel like that was a love-it-or-hate-it look.
Even Fan Bing Bing who was amazinggg!
Luke, you are the Original Fashion Gangsta for getting this up SO FAST. You are an absolute legend for getting this to us so quickly. I'd give you an Oscar, but all I have is that fuzzy green muppet in the garbage can. I love you to bits!!!! (Carla Delavigne is the only one worth mentioning. Ke Huy and Brendan winning were my emotional centers, to hell with the tuxes lol.)
This year was definitely lackluster fashionwise but at least everyone looked comfortable
Agreed
And most looked beautiful. Not exciting but beautiful
Oscars are not meant to be a runaway, it's an chick elegant night, on one wants to look weird
@Hold Ma Cat chic*🙂
@Hold Ma Cat except that they are looking weird 💀
I feel like you need to do a Part 2!
Fan BingBing's dress was my favourite of the night. Also hats off to Cara Delevingne and Monica Barbaro.
And seeing Tems white poof in the background of the ceremony, blocking the view of who was behind her was friggin HILARIOUS! XD
And deepika and Megan thee stallion!!
they did Jamie Lee kinda dirty; she's statuesque, not mother of the bride sheesh
That dress was HORRID!😬
The yellow of Kerry Condon’s dress may be nod to both her costume in The Banshees of Inisherin and something for which Ireland is well-known around the world: their butter. The coat that Kerry’s character wears as she leaves the island of Inisherin is bright yellow, symbolizing her happiness at leaving. The film, thanks to it gaining popularity with an international audience, is bringing knowledge of Irish history to the forefront, where many smaller elements of its culture have been for a while now. While the most well known elements of Irish culture - especially their cuisine - are their lovely alcohols, another well known element of its culinary culture is its delicious and vibrantly yellow butter.
Her dress was definitely my favourite. I think in her pre show interview she did mention the yellow was a nod to her coat in the movie!
I have been very interested in seeing The Banshees of Inisherin, thank you for that detail!
She said it was just one of her favorite colors. The color of her character in movie is yellow and etc. etc..
Reminds me of Kerrygold butter - another on message Irish reference!
Loved it but the assymetrical straps really bothered me! I was keen to hear Luke’s thoughts on that but the photo he looked at, her hair was draped over it.
🙌 Cate Blanchett 🙌 all the way!!!!!! She is always so dignified, yet playful, mischievous, exciting, but so elegant and harmonious. Her/ her stylist fashion choices are great
Lady Gaga looked stunning ✨✨✨ love that she always takes risks and does the unexpected!!
Yes she did
Her hair and makeup were giving Robert Palmer Addicted to Love girl era vibes. An all around slay.
She was fantastic
He missed the BACKSIDE of Gaga dress,
Now that was the unexpected part.
Makes me think he did NOT watch the beige carpet/ show, or he surely would have pointed out the butt view
* edit
He didn't even know N Kidmans dress had one long sleeve
Her waist!!! Wow wow wow
I loved harry shum jr and Hong chau's outfits. It's awesome to incorporate one's heritage within the context of a western atmosphere. And they did it in a such a way that it worked and didn't feel out of place
I loved the ultraviolet of Angela's gown, and Cate really served!! 💙💜 What baffles me is why anyone thought it was ok to even let that dress happen on JLC? A person who had a role in a film that has a predominantly asian cast, and you're going to put her in D&G. 🙄
7:38 love when you casually throw in some fashion history like how it was illegal for women to wear trousers for a long time in Paris
who the hell chose such a bland carpet & background color? it really ruined a lot of these dresses.
I also wasn't floored by Michelle Yeoh's look, but I have to say that her face last night was the prettiest I've ever seen it look. Almost ingenue. I've always thought she was beautiful, but she was spectacular looking on Sunday. The dress made me wonder if she felt she might not win (not a stretch--no Asian had ever won before), and didn't want to overshadow the ultimate winner. In addition, the youthfulness the look gave her face might keep her in the minds of producers who don't always have numerous roles for women over 35. I'm probably overthinking this...
Another less kind thought is that her looks have been slightly trending downhill since the memorable, perfectly tailored yellow blazer and scrumptious poofy floral skirt ensemble that started the season. It's got to be impossible to keep up that trend.
Overall I agree: sadly, no real memorable looks yesterday. But it was a great night. Maybe I'm just getting old and sentimental, but I can't think of another year where I wanted multiple winners for each category.
She needed a brighter color for her gorgeous coloring
I love Rihanna, she is so completely not apologetic about her pregnant bodie (about her bodie in general). It helps to take away so much pressure off of pregnant women and shape.
Thank you Luke for another great fashion roast! Your videos are always enjoyable and I love the informative aspect you add to them.💖🌟🎀
idk what happened to florence pugh’s fashion this year. the stunning orange harris reed moment had my hopes up but another let down from one of the most talented actresses of her generation.
I love her but I think that she’s already worn that exact same silhouette like 500 times already, and it’s become boring and tired 🥱
@Mariana Rosas yup exactly. that minidress+billowing train combo was done in venice (and not terribly fantastically tbh) and i’m not interested in seeing the same thing over and over. florence is the quirky type who i expect the avant garde moments from but no i guess not
I think the black underskirt would've killed as a bejeweled panty. The skirt reminded me of the biker shorts I'd wear under my sports uniforms. Also I do not like the shoe.
@Sandy She's actually wearing shorts, which makes it worse in my opinion.
The carpet didn't help, she looked like me when i get out of bed with my down-comforter.
Im so proud of myself for slowly nailing down how I think you’re going to feel about the looks. Also, I think Rooney/her team did an impeccable job of finding a unique and meaningful dress that she could also comfortable wear for the hours and hours long ceremony
I think Hong Chau was my favourite. Simple but beautifully executed.
Personally I think this was one of the worst Oscar’s for fashion…
You should definitely review the Vanity Fair party because there is more to look at
Danai's overall look is not simple though. The hair is regal and dramatic, the rumpampam is up top and the dress is simpler by contrast.
Your commentary is always on point and I love all the background info you give on the designers and how a dress is a throwback to this year or that--so much research goes into your videos and I appreciate this attention to detail! I absolutely HATED the "champagne" carpet--you could see every little spec of dirt, grass whatever--it looked just awful and did nothing to showcase the fashions. Thank you for an entertaining overview of the Oscar red carpet fashions.
Hi Luke you probably picked the most conspicuous celebrities or your favorite looks however would have loved to see some of the looks you didn't include like Deepika, Malala, Cara Delevigne, Elizabeth Olsen and so many more 😊 hope there is a part 2 or even 3 coming 😇😇
Great commentary! Your observations are spot-on and your knowledge of the designers, brand codes and history is incredible!❤❤❤
Angela Bassett 's purple gown and Stephanie Hsu's look are my favs among these . Also Cate Blanchett's , Rihanna's and Lady Gaga's looks are stunning.
Personally , I would wear something close to Sandra Oh's dress :)
Sandra Oh’s dress was one of my favourites of the night. She looks so good in that shade of orange
On the Michelle Yeoh look; I watched a recent interview about a week ago where she talked about how her mom had opinions about her clothing. From the video of her mother watching the ceremony in Malaysia, I thought how similar their two outfits looked (white, feathers, ethereal looking). I’d like to think that was something she thought about with the selection of her dress, especially after she dedicated the award to her mother. For that, I really like the look 🥲💖🥯
I love that you’re know design history so well. When I was in high school I would get designer patterns so I could see how they did what they did. Thank you for your input!
You are in the know, I don’t get the autocorrect.
Jessica Chastain was my hands down favorite! Everything in that look works! I don’t know what it is, but I love it head to toe. She looked so good!
I wish you talked about Daniel Kwan’s suit! I feel like in terms of menswear his suit jacket stood out and was a nice nod to EEAAO
Yes, how he reflected Michelle's costume from the launderette scene was very smart and the two of them really gave some wonderful speeches after so many wins.
I think the red Cara Delevingne dress was worth a mention, as was that big white gauzy dress with the free-standing, over-the-head extension.
these videos really inspire me and send me on internet rabbit holes learning about fashion and getting ideas
thanks always luke x
Love love love all the work you do, luke! Thank you!!
Hey Luc, I hope you can read this comment. A little interesting thing that I noticed about Hong Chau's dress is that it represents her name as well. Hong Chau means pink pearl in Vietnamese. The fact that she chose to wear a pink dress with pearl earrings is amazing. *chef kiss*
YAY for making a video on the Vanity Fair after party as there were some amazing looks.
As for this video, some of my favourites of the night were missing.
Looks I liked - Angela Bassett (just gorgeous), Michelle Yeoh, Sandra Oh (stunning, on point, a queen), Greg Tarzan Davis, Shohreh Aghdashloo (both stunning and meaningful), Sarah Polley, Ram Charan, Marlee Matlin, Deepika Padukone, Harvey Guillen (a thing of beauty), Barry Keoghan (except for the shoes), Halle Berry (the whole look was a thing of beauty from head to toe), Nicole Kidman, Emily Blunt (perfection), Jessica Chastain, Sofia Carson (a princess dream), Ava DuVernay, Stephanie Hsu, Daniel Kwan, Michael B. Jordan (sometimes a little can go a long way), Vanessa Hudgens, Paul Mescal, Ruth E. Carter, Malala Yousafzai, Michelle Williams, Fan BingBing (glamorous), Cara Delevingne (the whole look was just *chef's kiss*).
Also, are hairdressers in LA on strike? As many of the ladies looked like they just put on the dress and run out of home. And it's a theme this red carpet season. Ana de Armas being the first that comes to mind. Sometimes the hair-down look works - like on Jessica Chastain, other times it just looks lazy.
I love that you mentioned that Sandra Oh understood how to wear the dress which is something I believe Rooney Mara could have used to look even better. Hong Chau was also my favorite.
Angela and Sandra rocked those dresses. They look stunning 🔥
30:20 am so glad you liked the white ethereal gown of Michelle Williams, I so love it ! I think your fashion opinions come closest to truth, if feelings about clothes could ever be factual :)
First of all - Wow super impressed how fast you put up this video! 👏thx for that! I really love learning about the history of all the fashion and I’m always excited to see if I agree with you on whether or not a look is standing out. One minor critic I have for this one is the Rooney Mara - Alexander McQueen look. While I again loved to hear about the story around this dress, I feel this looks very unflattering on her, gives her an almost constraint posture, „pulls her down“ and compared to the Model wearing it, for me it doesn’t sit right, it should be higher up on the shoulders and the bust, of course that horrible champagne carpet does not help to make this one pop either. I also missed Angela Basset in your BEST list - she was Royalty in that ultraviolet dress 💜
hi luke!!! been a fan for ages but i wanted to let you know that i love the care and attention you gave to hong chau’s dress and heritage!!!! it means a lot how in-depth you went with the analysis and dived into prada’s history w the ao dai. i learned so much and i love that you brought attention to the vietnamese culture on your channel! (side note: you pronounced it nearly perfectly! the d in dai makes a yuh sound so it would be pronounced ao yai)
Florence remind me of myself grabbing my comfort so I can get to my fridge dressed 😂
I loved this review…and confession:Everytime I see Rita Ora,(she was at the Vanity Fair After Party),I always say “Rita Ora what are you doing here?”because of this channel!😆😆😆
Good critique, mostly aligned w/ mine and my daughter's opinions. Only thing you didn't cover was what we thought was a truly ghastly mistaken dress on Ruth, the costume designer who won the Oscar for best costumes in Wakanda Forever. I didn't mind the gold color, or the fabric, or the hot pink lining and platform sandals, BUT, the part that covered her chest looked badly stitched and, like, puckery, like they just couldn't quite get it right, and that was a shame. I saw what she was going for in my head, but when that seam started getting jiggy, she should've had a Plan B, because the gold/pink didn't work out that well. And she is the winner of the Oscar for best costumes! Which with I agreed, the costumes in that movie were FAB. Her dress, not so much.
Gaga was best dressed! Also loved Florence Pugh, she gave us Audrey Hepburn - makeup & hair!
Haile Baileys dress looked like a Mall prom dress from the 2010s ..Cate Blanchett was stunning ,she looked so statuesque ❤
Lady Gaga did it right! (Performance) ❤ I have the exact outfit and it cost less than $50 … totally gorgeous !
i wasn’t the happiest about jamie lee curtis winning best supporting actress, but to find out that she also wore dolce and gabbana?
Florence Pugh gave us modern Audrey Hepburn, did anyone else get that? especially with the Tiffany necklace! I honestly loved it.
Truly agree with your Hong Chau critique … my favorite as well. And a subliminal deconstructed pink triangle in the back, giving me a nod to silence =death posters of the late 1980s. Maybe just a trigger in my mind, but shows how wonderful fashion is, a true art form to allow a mind to drift with such a minimalist ( at quick glance) piece of art.
Angela Bassett looked gorgeous, I loved the purple.
Love your review on the Sandra Oh orange dress!! I also thought it was underrated, looked stunning on her
My favorite looks were Angela Bassett and Salma Hayek. The fiery orange sequined dress looked fantastic on her.
I had a really bad day and all I wanted to do when I got home was watch this video. Thanks, Luke!
I’m 100% d’accord with your view of the Michelle Williams dress; I also think it’s one of the quite rare occasions when the dress (and its idea) are 100% complimenting the face and personality of the wearer.
I wish this was the case more often: I look at Angela Bassett and think “What a beautiful dress, great fit, gorgeous color to go with her skin - but Bassett is a muscular, sporty woman with a face (and acting roles) to match, and the oh-so romantic vibe of this dress is not perfect for her…
Also agree with you about this sheer upper thing on Michelle Yeoh’s dress: It spoils the whole thing. Maybe it it was white, or sheerer - or not there at all…
I liked Ana’s after party dress! Do the after party!!
i loved it except for the high slit - i think if the slit had even just started lower it could've been perfect but the high slit really took me out of it
I liked it too. It looks like Art Nouveau stained glass. She looks so much better. The silver oscar dress completely washes her out.
@Criss Cross I loved the stained glass look! That’s exactly what I thought of! I wish she had worn that to the ceremony. It’s my favourite that’s she’s worn.
Yes I way preferred it to her ceremony dress.
@allison heath Me too!!
my main thing with yeoh's dress is that she was a really strong contender, with huge chances of winning the Oscar and making history and with that in mind her team couldve chosen a dress that would make this moment even more glamorous and unforgettable. she was going to give a speech, hold the statuette and make history... why wear something that washes her? not to compare her with blanchett but blanchett's outfit was of someone who was ready to go up the stage and give a speech.
Love Rihanna's look. Knowing now she was pregnant for her SuperBowl performance... also makes that incredible too!
Michelle Williams over-cape thingie is absolutely stunning. I could just picture a bride wearing that. My favorite look, so beautiful! Thanks for the review Luke 😘
👑 Angela Bassett and 👑 Michelle Yeoh were lovely! I wasn't mad at the white sheer fabric, though I would have liked to see how it would've looked truly sheer. Thanks for your explanation of the elements of Hong Chao's dress because it gave me a better appreciation of it -- before I thought it was blah. I thought Halle Bailey's dress was sweet, and I loved Rhianna's red carpet look (celebrate that belly, honey!). I was too distracted by Jonathan Majors' white socks to appreciate the suit.
I always look forward to your videos because I end up seeing fashion in a different way. At first I didn’t get Hong Chau’s dress but I knew you would explain it beautifully and you did!
I think Hong Chau’s dress is almost perfect. IMO the back plastic feather thing is not great from how it looks to how it absurdly attaches to the dress. Love everything else and that fit is insanely precise.
If you're nominated I think you need to keep things classic
Just in case you win. Because those pics are forever.
Love Luke riffing over Hong Chau’s ever so elegant pastel pink Prada gown…there were just a few moments when Luke was thrilled during this vlog and it was entertaining plus plus. Always nice to hear him gush over beautiful silhouettes and celebs who know how to ‘wear the frock’! 🐑🐑🇳🇿🇳🇿NZ
Austin’s suit fits so well, no one wears pants cut as well as his & don’t forget his burgundy suit at an other ceremony!
Would’ve liked to hear your views on the red stunner from Cara Delevigne; I thought it one of the most dramatic, best fitting and best looking dresses…
Thank you about JLC's dress! External boning looked awful - did her no favors at. all.
Hahaha i loved the overall looks at this year's Oscars as am more of a classic girl at heart! But i was just thinking Luke wouldn't liked them 😝
Wish you had also reviewed Deepika, Ram Charan and Jr. NTR's outfits 🫣
Austin Butler’s styling team really missed their opp of having their multi-nominated global star and that attention to maximize their creative eye ugh.
Deepika padukone LV dress gave retro hollywood glamour at its finest! The classic black, the silhouette, the fabric, the dazzling Cartier jewelery and her billion dollar smile made her one of the best dressed of the night.
You definitely don't wanna miss her out Luke!
Angela Bassett looked like a million bucks. Loved it!
I feel bad for the dresses that clashed horribly with the carpet 😂 it's an okay colour, but what would look striking against a red carpet is very MEH against the 'champagne' one.
FYI empire waistline gets its name from the french empire- empress josephine popularised it around europe (the style predates the name and was called greek or something before then) I don't think britain called itself an empire until later (Victoria was the first monarch with the title)
Love your commentary! Do you think that not having a red carpet was a factor in how these dresses presented? For example, I think that Ana DeArmas' dress would have looked better on the red carpet, as opposed to the champagne color. Cheers
"The movietaught me about empathy and I have empathy" is cracking me up. Great video!
Lol, my 80 year old mom said she liked the dresses this year so I knew it was gonna be a fiery roast over here 😂
38:56 I loved this collection as a young teenager when it came out. Alexander McQueen was my top artist then and still is one of the most interesting fashion houses of this time imo
I love how respectful you are about michelle Yeoh. You were fighting hard not to say anything mean and kept it super fair
youre so right michelle yeoh in schiaparelli wouldve been THE look that all of us deserve
One more thing about Hong Chau is that Hong in Vietnamese means pink/rose. So I imagine the pink dress is also a reference to her name. :)
The fact that Austen Butler didn’t once attempt to channel Elvis in his fashion is just a missed opportunity.
Ana de armas gown reminded me a lot of the famous marylin dress that Kim wore to the met. The fabric and placement of the stones were near identical. Looks like she wanted a revamped, different color version of that dress.
I hope you post a Vanity Fair After Party video! LOVE your red carpet roasts!
Fantastic that you put this up so fast. Are you planning a part two?
I was transfixed by the position of the red pole behind Harry Shum Jr.
Cate Blanchett is our Aussie Queen.
Can’t wait to see you roast Dolce and Gabbana in person 😂
Omg so happy you loved cates look!! I also thought it was fricking FABULOUS!! So fun unique and iconic
Thank you for this enlightening and enjoyable fashion review!! I would love to know your take on Sofia Carson's white dress on the Oscar's champagne carpet.
Oscars toned itself down when the carpet went beige…many attendees apparently decided to match the carpet shade
I wonder if anyone knows if they know ahead of time about the carpet color? Or did they try to pop and oh noooooo?
You did not include so many red carpet looks; Cara Delevingne, Deepika Padukone, Ludwig Goransson, Jessie Buckley, Baz Luhrmann, Andrea Riseborough, Harvey Guillen, Paul Mescal and Tems!
I thought you'd at least make a comment on Tems's dress 😂
36:39 a really well done maternity dress, the train is well executed…I don’t think Rihanna has ever had a poorly executed train. And I’m loving her messy hair bun 😂 it makes me feel more acceptable for my buns if she’s doing it at the Oscars.
I loved and agreed with most of your commentary here. More of the dresses appealed to me than is usually the case. Gorgeous colors, lovely shaping, nothing outrageous or tacky as sometimes happens. I was most dissapointed in Halle Berry: her dress did not do her justicw with those dime store roses. Also her hair needed a better shaping .
