This seems like a replicant of Punk and MJF’s first appearance but I got to be honest. Cole isn’t on the promo level as MJF.. or Punk

I think both needed this segment. MJF had gotten a little stale and this helps boost him back up.
I'm glad they're moving Adam Cole on from the Jericho feud and putting him with MJF because this is a feud I've been waiting to see since Cole debuted in AEW given how he's one of the few in the company that can hold his own in a promo battle with MJF and how good they both are in the ring. Hopefully this goes beyond the non-title match they're having next week because this at least deserves to be built up to Forbidden Door.
@Cactus Jack You must have missed the beatdown segments where Keith Lee save Adam Cole and vice versa several weeks ago.
I think they will return to that storyline later in the year or next year after Kyle O'Reilly has rehabbed his injuries and is ready to return to the ring and bobby Fish decides to return to AEW, then we can have the Undisputed Era vs. The Jericho Appreciation Society.
The JAS is literally the “push killer” faction in AEW.
@Julius Cotton I'd honestly rather see the JAS crumble than see a feud between the two groups even if Fish decided to come back (which I find highly unlikely even with all three of his former stablemates in AEW now). That group just doesn't have much reason to exist right now nor did it in the first place even with the genuine backstories between Jericho and everyone else in it and Jericho himself would be much better off actually flying solo for the first time in several years.
@Cactus Jack the scrapped gimmick for him if he went to the main roster was rumoured to be nothing more than a managers position for Keith Lee on RAW

Seriously love how MJF finally cracks when someone calls him a coward, and his ego spills over and he makes a match. Then when he’s calm, he realises his mistake. It’s a great character trait

I think this was my favorite MJF promo ever, and I love that he did most of the talking and that it was largely praise for Cole, until he needed to take a few shots. Also thought Cole did really well here. I hope this match whenever wherever it takes place ends in a DQ type finish so Cole doesn't lose and MJF doesn't win so when they face each other again down the road it feels bigger.
Yes, definitely shouldn't be a "one and done". This could be an awesome feud, and I think we'll see MJF vs CM Punk after that since they've BOTH been advertised for AEW Collision 💥

holy shit, thought adam cole was losing his touch. But that promo showed the entire AEW crowd who Adam Cole is and why he's been picked as the top guy for so many promotions.
That promo sucked and made no sense. “The reason you’re talking about my body is because of my body of work”. MJF already addressed and praised his body of work, so why even bring that up when he’s making fun of his frail body?
He can’t shit on his body of work since he acknowledges it as being good so he had to shit on another thing which was his physique, etc.

AEW needs more segments like this. Just putting on great matches for the sake of it is stale we know everyone can do cool moves. This is great. This is how you get people invested.

@Walter Armstrong thats the problem when CM Punk joined. All these other guys immediately to go toe to toe with him and hold their own, but Punk was a "mic guy". You need to let him cut deep and react that way. MJF is a "mic guy" but hes also a "bad guy". To get a good guy over, the good guy has to either hurt or beat the bad guy. MJF lets the good guys hurt him. His idol is Triple H and he takes a lot of his style from him. Arrogant, entitled, stands proudly from his pedestal, but also smart enough to know that when theres a Rock or Austin, you need to let them go.

Bro, MJF is one of the greatest mic workers of all time, no joke. He makes feuds feel like big fights and I really want this feud to do well, which I think it will. You have two great workers and two great mic workers, and I really wanna see where this goes.

The problem with MJF, is that he's so damn entertaining it's hard to boo him! Even when he's going hard and crossing lines, I just love him even more for it. He will end up being a huge cross-over star one day, mark my words. He's just like The Rock in his late 90's phase, people just started cheering him because he was so entertaining and great in the ring. That's why I think MJF has to really go hard sometimes on the stick, to make sure people boo him, even then, when his music hits people still cheer....it's only a matter of time.
