After watching Cleetus Mcfarland with his helicopter training, it's incredibly difficult to get near ground targets.

After seeing many videos involving the bowling ball and a trampoline van we just admire how easy he made hitting that on the very very first drop

They should have painted a target on the grass so you get some points for missing objects but still getting closer to the center.

Congrats Herron. Actually anyone that get in a helicopter and hangs out to drop used items from 300 to 1000 feet should be congratulated or insane. I’m glad you have fun doing it. You shouldn’t push objects away, I notice they went further. Try just dropping straight down next time. Of course if it was even a little windy or a breeze can make a difference.

These Lads are amazing and it is great to see them just having fun and a good time. The level to the videos are crazy to like custom built things and helicopters which everyone should appreciate the commitment they put into the videos.

Why yes...I actually have played darts from a helicopter...lol. While in the Military, part of my "job" was to drop sensors, shaped like very large lawn darts, out of the door or ramp from various helicopters on a weekly basis... from what I recall, conditions allowing, we would generally fly 80 knots at 500 ft so our aiming point was consistent. We would drop 3 to 5 sensors in a "string" with the preferred impact sites marked on a map and a team member working as a "plotter" to record actual impact point so we could adjust the distance figure in our computations.....this was all Pre-GPS

You guys usually take great safety precautions but noticed that there wasn't too many with the fire extinguisher... high pressure item when smashed OPEN could have ended up in someone's face. So stay safe and continue making awesome content like this!

The duck quack when the objects missed was hysterical. I guess it's tougher than it looks to hit a spot from a chopper. Seems like the way to go would be to hover over the target and just release rather than hoiking it out the door. That parabolic fall path is hard to judge.

Really was looking forward to seeing how far that last giant dart went into the ground.

With that many cameras running, I would love to see the storage solution you are using one of these days.

Okay I have an absurd idea for your next series' of destruction: Ski jumps. Have you ever seen that clip from some Japanese show where they launch various tires off of a giant ski jump? I wanna see something like that. It would be awesome!

I think most of the problem was a mix of the helo being too far off to one side of the target area... and items were being THROWN from the helo, imparting lateral velocity which was then compounded by wind resistance. Something dropped from directly above the target area and DROPPED instead of thrown would have stood a much better chance of at least landing in the target area.

I miss you guys doing videos at the tower.

Maybe using a line with a weight on tied to the end would provide more accurate hits since it can give the helicopter pilot a way to see how close to the targets he is. Lower the line from the copter when at the target area to help prevent it from swinging. Let the weight hit the ground then raise it back up a bit would also help keep it from swinging.

I hope you guys are using a land air coordinator to find out whether the chopper is actually above the target for all three of you as you let the objects fly

Try ... Mortar Cannons ... (something like it) to aim on to targets. Dropping with a heli seems to create too much wind interference ... and the tower is a lot of climbing..
Mortars ... would be easier. Maybe other things like an air piston.. Air cannon.. Trebuchet ? ...
The target attempts would be fun to see a hit.... but so would the splatter of random objects onto ground.

You guys should make more of those giant darts and a dartboard to go with them and play darts from a high up place.

Imagine this sort of thing from the helicopter, but with a dartboard 100 feet across.

Too many of the best projectiles missed entirely. Everything that missed should have been dropped until it hit something. The dart was impressive even as a miss, though.

This kind of stuff is always over the top and I live for it

Id think you guys would benifit from taking wind speed and direction from the ground, relayed to each object dropping participant?
Or maybe fit a drone with an Anemometer half way between the ground and the helicopter? Not sure if that would work unless you were able to keep it stable in one spot. GPS capable drone?

At this point its better to get one of the heavy duty drones to carry things in the sky and then drop, helicopter and Cleetus is always a treat but conditions are to unpredictable

just a thought, instead of increasing height, should have done low "bombing runs" to throw the items. The wind seemed to play a pretty big factor as far as accuracy was concerned. Simply increase speed for the "fly by" drops to increase difficulty.
