Years after the fact. So far he seems a solid player but I can't help that every time I see him talking, I get a visual reminder of a particular VERY NSFW hentai webcomic! (No, I won't link it here or anywhere associated with YT) Very distracting.
Hellmuth obviously tried to bully the loose cannon, even talking at him as if he couldn't understand what Phil was saying. And obviously the cannon could tell Phil was bluffing and felt confident enough to call. Great read and great call. Brunson always says that the math and statistics of the hand will always lose out to gut feeling and being able to read people, in this case he was right.
@joshykel First you are misrepresenting the quote. He is talking about a specific situation. Second, Doyle is great not for his poker playing ability, but for his impact on the game itself. So quoting him as an expert and trying to brute force a few logical fallacies onto someone else is mind blowingly dense. Keep your appeal to authority my guy, and don't try to get on your high horse when your riding ability seems questionable.
@Bewildered Bodhisattva LMAO so in other words you’ve got absolutely nothing to contradict me, so you’re gonna pretend I’m angry even though you don’t have any evidence of that either. Real rich. Thanks for the laugh :)
@Mystery Fan you have any other suggestions on where the show is now? would love to rewatch the original seasons, and get to watch the new seasons without having to pay such insane amounts. For that price I'd rather have paid and gotten just s7 as a permanent download
Praise to the loose cannon for making that call. He totally got it right and I think most players/pros would never make that call. He knew Phil was bluffing but man that was a great call 😂
especially now that so many of the shows are behind insane paywalls. I get that they cost money and they don't get ad revenue like they used to when poker was at this insane level of popularity. But charging almost 3 times the amount it cost for many streaming services is outrageous.
"Max might have a vampire truth that he tasted and just said 'I'm going to go with that truth'. Because I've met fellow highlanders, vampires, whatever, once in a while and they have a taste. They know. It can happen. I'm giving him credit for the possibility that he's a mutant genius. I'm just giving him credit. Max, I'm saying even though that's bad long-run poker I'm opening the door to the possibility that you're a mutant genius." ~ Philip Rupert Laak, Year of Our Lord Two-Thousand and Nine.
Once when I was in Manhattan they charged by the weight. Also once in Downtown Chicago. And I think that Blaze pizza 🍕, a chain in California, does the same thing.
I mean... it's ballsy, and most people would fold. But it's such fucking backwards thinking whenever Phil is on the wrong side of a decision. "He bet 15k with a pair of 10s. And he called 60k... with a pair of 10s".... well, yes. Obviously you sensed weakness, which is why you interpreted his lead out as a blocker bet instead of ensuring you don't check behind. But perhaps he sensed you were bluffing? Which you were...
“More clubs out there than the Vegas strip..” These guys r so underrated when it comes to commentating, I always hear quick and witty comments from them and they always catch me off guard, either kuz it’s funny as fuck or that shit is so well thought out and too thorough for me 2 think these guys came up with the shit they say on the spot.
" Almost a family pot with Phil Hellmuth being the dad who just walked out on them, just because he didn't like the hand he was dealt" Stapleton makes this show great
In the beginning when he said he is confident in his game. I believed that. He looks like he knows poker. The closest guy to this one was the actual Cannon dude guy who was also a beast:D
Upon reflection after seeing that 10 9 hand that Martinez called with, I understand what Helmuth was saying, but honestly this is THE BEST cannon easily. and not just for that gutsy call, but just his style of play as a whole.
@Im Bory your saying I’m super new to poker when all the pros in this video disagree with you and say the most basic shit ever. God I hate smug people like you who thinks they know it all
@Im Bory his point about that being horrible in the long run was proven when the loose cannon paid hellmuth off with his 5 full house a couple hands later calling with ace high.He tried to make a hero call again. Sometimes you just to tip your hat to the other player and let it go even if he is bluffing. Thats not a call you should ever make when your a loose cannon and 100,000 on the line. Hellmuth made a great raise and he made a even better hero call. That’s why hellmuth was upset dealing with your original comment. Oh your but your an expert. Yes master you know everything when your saying the most poker normie basic shit ever. But yes master call the bluff master
@Westhood Qualzini God, you are really new. Thats not a call you make "in the long run" its a in the moment call because he had a read lmao. Sad that people like you even comment on this stuff.
@Im Bory hellmuth made a good raise there it’s just that the loose cannon made a good call in that circumstance and hellmuth was frustrated because more than likely that raise should have made weak top pair fold there. You only beat a bluff there but you can’t make a hero call every time. I’m explaining this to you because I genuinely think your poker knowledge is lacking. I genuinely think that with your responses. But again your going to listen to none of this and fire back with insults
@Im Bory oh yeah there you go. If you think calling a river reraise with a pair of 10s with a weak kicker will win you a lot of money in the long run go ahead do it. But no only do you disagree with me you disagree with the pros in this video. He made the right call in that circumstance but the point hellmuth and laak were making was you can’t assume every time your opponent is bluffing and you pay off your opponent on what should be a standard fold
Laak calling Max a vampire is hilarious. Max has been around for a hot minute before even coming on this show and many knew him before coming on this show. They follow rankings in other countries as well because they all play the same circuits not just in the USA but the major countries. I've seen Max play several times before this and he's a decent poker player and it's no big secret some play a lot more aggressive overall than others and Italians are some that play aggressively.
Amanda was always looking amazing; nice hair, nice style, well dressed, great gym physique. Then Daniel came along, scooped her up, and she completely let go HAHAHA. She was waiting for one of them to snag her so she could finally eat whatever she wanted. Love it.
5 minutes in - finally, a canon that is participating. Jesus. I'm not good at poker, but even I know that you can NOT only play hands that are perfect.
The thing is Massimilliano clearly gets the math, but I think he had enough information in that particular spot to make the call, despite the -EV of that kind of play in the long run.
damn.. if Max had also played the 2nd hand, he would've taken down a monster pot; flopped two pair against Phil's lone pair with Slick Willy just firing away
Phil made a great re-raise on that A-9 hand.... cmon who would of called that... guy couldn’t even go on in because Phil basically put him all in.... great call..... guys like that go bust or clean up
Actually the ace king hand in which he lost. Phill was actually barelling till he got a boat on the river. Martinez was bang on in determining the strength of Hellmuth hand on the flop and the turn.
The first 6 hands he played like a pro. Any other LC would never have made it that far(with a better hand) against Hellmuth. Would folded. Guaranteed. But he played this way, because he is a like semi-pro in Italy.
The guy with the WSOP bracelets is the the guy on top. When you got top and amateurs playing in the thousands every year in US and Overseas it's a good measure to see who is on top.
Laak: I can't do those things. I don't have that in my arsenal. He is selling himself short here. I've seen him do crazier things like going all in pre-flop with an utter trash hand.
@Justin I mean I’m glad to hear it’s a joke but that’s a bit hard to pick up on on yt especially with all the people that would say that seriously hahha
The more I watch Phil Hellmuth the more I realize that he is definitely not even top 10 players in the world like against the loose Cannon he made the re raise of 45k so obvious that he called him with Top pair ! He really stinks and the bracelets he won in his tournaments was during the time when poker players were very simple to read!
What is your first impression of Loose Cannon Massimiliano Martinez?
Years after the fact.
So far he seems a solid player but I can't help that every time I see him talking, I get a visual reminder of a particular VERY NSFW hentai webcomic!
(No, I won't link it here or anywhere associated with YT)
Very distracting.
There's no logic in calling with A,K high
On the spectrum. Autism. 👍🏽
I'm giving him credit for the possibility that he's a mutant genius.
He is mentaly sick in my opinion
love to watch poker on the tube, but dont check the times to watch it. Your Clip-Share vids are great., thanks
I think Phil has to be the biggest donor to the Loose Cannon Charity Foundation
Which Phil, lol
@Tony Elemento agreed
Guys, it makes GuD TV. Most everything on that table came from these guys sponsors and TV deals.
Guys, it makes GuD TV. Most everything on that table came from these guys sponsors and TV deals.
that was a really good bluff actually
That's not fair. Not every loose cannon has Phil Hellmuth at the table. How are they supposed to make profit? :D

@Kaleb Wilson Not as sick as the diarrhea from that gas station burrito you had LAST NIGHT. That was a REAL sick burn.
@Bewildered Bodhisattva sick burn bro
@Kaleb Wilson You wanna see something really funny? The size of your stack at the poker tables.
@Bewildered Bodhisattva LMAO so in other words you’ve got absolutely nothing to contradict me, so you’re gonna pretend I’m angry even though you don’t have any evidence of that either. Real rich. Thanks for the laugh :)
I love watching a bunch of personalities on poker shows, it’s just so entertaining.
@Mystery Fan you have any other suggestions on where the show is now? would love to rewatch the original seasons, and get to watch the new seasons without having to pay such insane amounts. For that price I'd rather have paid and gotten just s7 as a permanent download
Watch High Stakes Poker - 7 seasons on Clip-Share, its even better
Praise to the loose cannon for making that call. He totally got it right and I think most players/pros would never make that call. He knew Phil was bluffing but man that was a great call 😂
Thanks for uploading all these videos. It's really a joy watching all of them.
agreed. Have been binging for a month!
especially now that so many of the shows are behind insane paywalls. I get that they cost money and they don't get ad revenue like they used to when poker was at this insane level of popularity. But charging almost 3 times the amount it cost for many streaming services is outrageous.
Phil Laak is such a character, "Italy is the first place I bought Pizza by the Kilogram". '
XD
@Ted Atwork impressive how accurately you quoted that section... up until the second to last word. Still, I honestly am impressed and loved that part.
Max, I'm saying even though that's bad long-run poker I'm opening the door to the possibility that you're a mutant genius."
~ Philip Rupert Laak, Year of Our Lord Two-Thousand and Nine.
i’m open to the idea that he is a mutant genius vampire lmao
@Roy Bell that’s why he said kilogram lol
Once when I was in Manhattan they charged by the weight. Also once in Downtown Chicago. And I think that Blaze pizza 🍕, a chain in California, does the same thing.
Gotta like Perkins. One of the few that doesn’t take crap off Hellmuth
16:57 I love the unintentional slow roll by the cannon, he tried flipping both cards face up but they both when back face down 😂😂😂
"He put in $70,000 with top pair!"
Yeah, and you put in $70,000 with ace high.
@Gabriel Grangeiro not really. max thought phil was possibly bluffing, it was a 50/50 chance
@Steven is all about % of your stash. Not the same putting 70% of your chips than 20% of em over a read.
I mean, there is a significant difference between calling with top pair than bluffing. That was actually a good bluff, guy was just sticky.
Calling is very different to betting, you can be betting 3 high and it can be the right play
Essentially he's mad he can't bully him by having more wealth to work with. Hellmuth is such a bad sport.
Calling Hellmuth raise best move I’ve seen on this show
Even laak coming over and saying I wouldn’t have called that shows it’s boldness
@Ross Arnold you bot he wasn’t talking about you he was talking about ph
@Elliot T I mean.... I wasn't playing?
I mean... it's ballsy, and most people would fold.
I miss Phil Laak anybody know where you can still see him play cards?
That line up with Dario, ElkY, and Laak was one of the best ever.
“More clubs out there than the Vegas strip..”
These guys r so underrated when it comes to commentating, I always hear quick and witty comments from them and they always catch me off guard, either kuz it’s funny as fuck or that shit is so well thought out and too thorough for me 2 think these guys came up with the shit they say on the spot.
Max is a breath of fresh air after that last cannon... phew.
" Almost a family pot with Phil Hellmuth being the dad who just walked out on them, just because he didn't like the hand he was dealt"
Stapleton makes this show great
@42:08 when Perkins says "two pair" and Elky says "too bad" that was cold
Phil Laak is pure entertainment.
I can't stress enough how happy I am to see 'the businessman' back on the show
Huub ten Hoeve why. He’s just annoying and not funny. You probably like the Big Bang theory too?
In the beginning when he said he is confident in his game. I believed that. He looks like he knows poker. The closest guy to this one was the actual Cannon dude guy who was also a beast:D
This guy made the sickest call and made a career out of it... most of the time he'd bust out there and just forgotten
Phil "gets mad when his opponents don't play the way he wants them to" Hellmuth
Upon reflection after seeing that 10 9 hand that Martinez called with, I understand what Helmuth was saying, but honestly this is THE BEST cannon easily. and not just for that gutsy call, but just his style of play as a whole.
At 30:00 when Phil Hellmuth said "what are you gonna do, call with ace/king high?" That was legendary.
Monster player.
Phil getting destroyed in the big game and crying is legendary.
love Phil! So entertaining and likable
Max is a great player, but since he knows so many of them (from playing together!) it seems a little unfair he’s in the LC seat 💺
I think that's why Bill Perkins was invited. He is an amateur, rich, and only plays for fun.
He was the true cannon of the entire show.
elky looks like he lives in a bright world with flying horses in it
25:29 the way laak zeros in on exactly what's happening
Phil thinks anyone who doesn’t believe him and picks his bluff off is a bad player lol
@Im Bory your saying I’m super new to poker when all the pros in this video disagree with you and say the most basic shit ever. God I hate smug people like you who thinks they know it all

I like max. Gets some action. Feel he could win huge or go bust early
props to Dario standing up to usual hellmuth bullying/trash talking
Laak calling Max a vampire is hilarious. Max has been around for a hot minute before even coming on this show and many knew him before coming on this show. I love this show. When Tony G and Phil play it's hilarious. Tony can needle the fuck out of Phil
Cannon I think is the best "cannon" so far. He played almost flawlessly.
I usually roll my eyes at the commentators jokes. But the "He left because he didn't like the hand he was dealt" one was funny 😆
25:00 is brilliance. So funny and enjoy listening to him talk
I would be willing to bet any amount of money that Elky knows how to do magic tricks.
I love Bill Perkins 😂 "Tilt juice out for everyone, take a little sip" 😂
Amanda was always looking amazing; nice hair, nice style, well dressed, great gym physique. Then Daniel came along, scooped her up, and she completely let go HAHAHA. She was waiting for one of them to snag her so she could finally eat whatever she wanted. Love it.
Minieri was right,he was the best loose cannon and won the trophy 🏆
This canon was actually decent unlike the utter disasters like in Season 2. Perkins has nearly no poker face.
Bill perkins is one of the funniest players and so loose on the table its so entertaining
“nice poker face” killed me lmao
I realize these guys do this for a living but everytime I try to flip in my fold like a cool guy I show the hand and they don’t like that 😂
That call was incredible. I wouldn’t have done it tbh hahahah
Phil gets mad when people call his bluff like bro 😅🤣 what a great call by the cannon
I've never really watched poker shows before but I am enjoying this one.
16:53 “I may have 4s full, I may not”
“Okay, call”
EPIC.
Ya PH should learn to keep his mouth shut
5 minutes in - finally, a canon that is participating. Jesus.
I'm not good at poker, but even I know that you can NOT only play hands that are perfect.
I wish martinez had pocket 3’s when phil had 5 three of a kind, it wouldve made my day
42:09 Such a cold line by Elky
Love how tilted the poker brat is after the great read by the cannon lmao.
I love how she just talked right over Hellmuth at the end when he started rambling. =)
That check on the river by elky with his set is very tight. I think it was a clear value bet there
way better than the one before :')
The thing is Massimilliano clearly gets the math, but I think he had enough information in that particular spot to make the call, despite the -EV of that kind of play in the long run.
"So what do you think would make this a successful week for you?"
"Eh..about a 100k."
The amount he's staked. Smart answer.
damn.. if Max had also played the 2nd hand, he would've taken down a monster pot; flopped two pair against Phil's lone pair with Slick Willy just firing away
17:40 phil is so tilted he developed an itialian accent LOL sounds like mario talking there.
I thought the same thing lol
Hahaha yeah, that had me laughing out loud as well.
😂
Noticed this...came looking
😂
I wonder if max had a live tell from Phil to make that call or if all he needed was for him to reply he could have fours ... or not.
Love p laak but gotta admit he runs so good
Phil made a great re-raise on that A-9 hand.... cmon who would of called that... guy couldn’t even go on in because Phil basically put him all in.... great call..... guys like that go bust or clean up
11:10 - Laak is classic. *I’ll win if I miss* because guess who’s barreling?! 😂😂😂 mad man
Phil Hulmuth dude. He's so freaking good lol. Yeah a bit much at times but can't knock his skills. That AK read was siiiiick!
I only watch poker to watch Helmuth! So funny
Hellmuth's behavior puts a consternation target on his back.
"2 pair"
"2 bad"
Smooth Elky
Change the flop at 21:42 to 5, 6, 8. That would've been fun
YEAHH
Finally a good loose cannon
I like max. Not tight like all these other cannons
Actually the ace king hand in which he lost. Phill was actually barelling till he got a boat on the river. Martinez was bang on in determining the strength of Hellmuth hand on the flop and the turn.
[Chuckles in Gonzo Cannon Jr.]
The first 6 hands he played like a pro. Any other LC would never have made it that far(with a better hand) against Hellmuth. Would folded. Guaranteed.
But he played this way, because he is a like semi-pro in Italy.
@707 Ridah
easily forgiven 😊👍
@707 Ridah
"All" ?..
The guy with the WSOP bracelets is the the guy on top. When you got top and amateurs playing in the thousands every year in US and Overseas it's a good measure to see who is on top.
Hilarious how hellmuth treats all AMATEUR as a challenge that he needs to crush😂 ego can’t get any bigger
@Robert Dominguez No he isn't. Stop spreading lies
that's cuz hes the best in the world.
plus he treats cash game hands like tourney hands
That hand against Hellmuth would have made a great couch cannon hand.
Laak is such a good guy.
"The Businessman Bill Perkins ".
Hahaha hahaha hahaha gets me all the time 🤣🖖🏿
The commentary on this show is hilarious man XD
This loose cannon is like a Sacha Baron Cohen character.
Phil talked himself into that loss.. Ivey would never. haha
Every EP that Phil is in is just a tilt fest
Which Phil lol
Laak: I can't do those things. I don't have that in my arsenal.
He is selling himself short here. I've seen him do crazier things like going all in pre-flop with an utter trash hand.
42:18 the tigthest check i've ever seen in the big game.. specially against such a fish..
The announcer clowning Dario’s hair got me
Did anyone notice Laak unintentionally steal a chip?? It happens at 36:30
Love these vids and the commenters are great.
I like how they give the loose cannon English subtitles even though he's speaking English
Because to some people his accent may be hard to understand?
Youd never see real cash pros chastising someone calling huge raises with top pair no kicker
30:00 is legendary
i love how trolly phils intro clip is
17:04 tilt juice bring it out for everyone have a little sip
17:09 DRINK IT UP 😂😂😂😂
36:29 Laak stealing a chip from the pot
@Justin I mean I’m glad to hear it’s a joke but that’s a bit hard to pick up on on yt especially with all the people that would say that seriously hahha
@Colton Jobes joke went over your head my guy
@Justin am I going crazy? Yeah, I said that
@Colton Jobes idk man it looks like he did it by accident
@Boban Mihajlov Dude I just said that lmao
The more I watch Phil Hellmuth the more I realize that he is definitely not even top 10 players in the world like against the loose Cannon he made the re raise of 45k so obvious that he called him with Top pair ! He really stinks and the bracelets he won in his tournaments was during the time when poker players were very simple to read!
Phil Laak is so nice.
16:50 This had is so good. Why don't I see this hand more in the highlight reels?
Awww Dds
Without Phil Hellmuth this show would have been much much worse, Hellmuth was one of the reasons it was the best Poker show by far
I see Phil tilting, I click.
Woah imagine if the loose cannon played his 10 2 suited on the second hand.
It's the dumbest thing in the world that Hellmuth confidently explains his winning hand. Whilst the loosing hands he does not explain his misread
