- Diablo IV is finally here. After spending over 100 hours with the game, here's my final review of what we're getting at release. While there are some pain points and I do wish Blizzard took some bigger swings, overall I've really enjoyed the game. I'm pumped to jump back in and play with everyone else at launch.

thank u for this detailed review
???????????????阿滴??????????????
A review actually worth watching and non-click bait BS. Thank you!
I've watched countless Diablo 4 content creators and this is my first time coming across your channel, but I just wanted to comment how appreciative I am of a) the quality of content that is concise and straight to the point, b) NO SPOILERS - big ups for allowing us to experience story bosses, etc ourselves without spoiling in the video c) love the different POVs as well as comparisons to older franchises such as D2 and D3 to better relate to the upcoming content.
Thank you so much!!
this channel is solid for an overview of all things.
Raxxanterax is good for guides.
Over World Gaming is good for current news like recent tweets from devs, etc.
@Bagboy Brown Raxx is the worst creator for guides. He don't even care showing gameplay on his guides. Just man speaking to camera (you can just post plain text on maxroll, same efficiency.).
@Bagboy Brown I agree about OWG though, it is very valuable for someone who have no access to twitter (like me, cuz it is banned in my country)
@Vladimir Smirnov I don't really think you need to see the gameplay, personally. He focuses more on the math and min/maxing. You should be able to put it together and feel confident things are gonna work out. numbers don't lie.
@Vladimir Smirnov Dumbest take in a long time. Rax is great.
I really appreciate your reviews. It feels like the most honest review around. Its so nice to have a very balanced opinion.
I have seen the same types of enemies at lvl 90 as lvl 20. Seems that we have human variants, monstrous humans, goats, snakes, and demons without much unique in between.
Great review as always, hopefully boss encounters and end game content continue to expand with seasons. It looks like the base game is as solid as any diablo fan had hoped and then some
God loves us, but our sins have separated us from Him. This means we can't be with Him in Heaven when we die. However, God made a way for us to be forgiven and go to Heaven through Jesus Christ. We don't have to earn our salvation or do good deeds to be saved. All we have to do is believe in Jesus and ask Him to forgive our sins. When we do that, we become a new person and have a personal relationship with God.
The Bible says that if we don't receive this gift of salvation, we'll be separated from God forever in a place called Hell. But God doesn't want that for us - He wants us to have eternal life with Him. So, if you want to be saved and have eternal life, all you have to do is believe in Jesus and ask Him to come into your heart.
Thanks for all the work you have done on all the Diablo stuff from Beta to now. You rock man.
This world used to be a place to learn to suffer, but that has to change. Make this world heaven!
Honestly… you are definitely the best critic I’m looking to when I need to know how good or bad a game is going to be. Good job, you are doing an amazing job (simple and direct) !
Thanks for this video bro. I'm absolutely loving and enjoying Diablo4. I had such low expectations for the game, but I am very pleasantly surprised how good it actually is. Blizzard really did a great job on D4. It was deffo worth my 90 Euro's.
Probably one of the most objective reviews so far, well done. I too have some concerns about boss mechanics being a tad too easy at endgame. They could borrow more from Lost Ark in this regard (although there are plenty of other things I hated that made me quit).
I really like Diablo lore and the main bosses but I have never thought that they were hard in the previous games either if you are playing the game first time. I hope there is a way to experience the main bosses in the harder world tiers with new abilities
Just crank up the difficulty and play on hardcore if you want it to be harder.
Diablo 2 could be punishing af. Mephisto was always challenging and fun, and the first time fighting the Ancients was an absolute nightmare. Ahhh, man. Brings back a ton of good memories, honestly.
Thanks Force. Really appreciate the work you've put into this.
Thank you for this detailed and easy to understand review/overview.
I played the First Beta. It was a blast. Lotsa unfinished stuff, things like a bunch of undressed wireframes et al... but there was an area that I really loved. I think it had something to do with the Iron Wolves, maybe? It was sorta a High Chaparral Environment: Desert-like, but also a little Tropical with Streams and Ponds and Frogs and stuff. it was a great Compound. And a nice Place for a relaxing Winter Home. : )
This is the only review that I was engaged with all the way through. You gave me alot of insight and great coverage. Thanks.
Great review! Sets proper expectations without spoilers… You sir are a gentleman 😎
Great review overall. You did an excellent job covering most points except the build diversity and potential of the different classes.
How would you say your experience regarding inventory space was?
Gems taking up a lot of space during the betas was a problem. Sigil tab looks way too small, if I want to be efficient (that's how > I < enjoy the game!).
Based on the videos I have watched so far and what people have said to me directly, both unique and rare glyph drop rates seem to be really high. Would you agree on that?
Thank you Force! Thank you for all you have covered, thank you very much for this review as well. I remain as excited for the game, as I was in the open beta and the server slam.
Same here!!! Can’t f***in wait until June 1st 😎👍🏽
Awesome review and only one I watched all the way to the end. Very detailed and answered some on questions I had prior of watching this. Thanks!
Great review, thanks! It was really informative. I learned a lot from it about the game.
Solid review, Force. And very fair criticism of several aspects as well. I really hope the dev team decides to up the difficulty for some group oriented content later, difficulty similar to that of an extreme boss fight in FFXIV, or Lost Ark/WoW heroic raid
It would be neat to have fights on the level of something like an XIV EX Encounter, but I also think that they'd have to be big events that happened once in a while, not nearly the same frequency as World Bosses. Something like the community working together over a few weeks to spawn 'uber' versions of world bosses and then those who've earned the prerequisite macguffins to join in can all work together to take on the uber world boss. I think that'd be great.
Hearing, "Oh, the game is so incredibly easy" from a guy who literally plays video games all day is like a marathon runner saying, "Oh, geeze, guys! That 5-mile run in 25 minutes was so incredibly short and slow!" Not everyone has the ability (or the desire) to play video games for 8-12 hours/day. Some of us have jobs and families and, you know, *actual lives* .
@McMoogle I like the idea of that very much! Like minded people all contributing to be able to participate in a special encounter. It would generate a sense of community too
@JonSnoWight there is nothing wrong in having optional content with a high difficulty curve. One can simply choose not to engage with it. I don't do savage raiding in FFXIV for example, but I have the option to join in on it if I so desire -- I don't feel the least bit ostracised for not playing them, nor ultimates for that matter. It's a concept that dates back like two decades by now
Im enjoying it a lot. Wish it was a little bit harder when playing with friends but overall enjoyable
Years ago I watched your Hardcore playthrough of Diablo 3. I've been put close to 2500 hours into it since then. ALL BECAUSE OF YOU! haha. I respect your opinion on this and I thank you for voicing your concerns. I need that loot grind xD
Excellent review due to your respect of keeping from spoilers. I appreciate that a ton.
didnt he say in his last video that spoiler nda ends only after the early access launch?!?
Blizzard would body this video for breaking the NDA about story spoilers
@Sela "No spoilers - Now here's the World Bosses you don't know about!"
@Reelix - He didn't show ONE campaign boss...
Spoiler NDA ends as soon as the game goes live on the 1st/2nd depending on where you live.
Dude, amazing review. Hit like every point i was wondering about looking into the game. Great job you got my sub all day!
My only beef is the difficulty scaling. I miss the days of D2, get your ass handed to you by a boss, level up and grind, comeback and slaughter the boss. I noticed in the beta it wasn't possible to do this, if you level up, so does the boss.... and it felt weird struggling with a boss at level 20, then a level 6 comes along and mops the floor with it. Other than that, great game, love they went with d2 resurrected dark graphic gameplay, open world is a great concept, can't wait to explore sanctuary.
At high level it will happen once you unlock the equivalent of torments levels.
The game still scaled by mobile/Skyrim gamers that don’t like proggession
@Matthew Osterman no it's not lol
😂😂😂
@Matthew Osterman Or we see progression as skill-based - getting good enough to win, rather than just grinding for some levels and a stat stick to cheese our way past.
Thanks for the review . Just wanna mention if everything is so easy, I don't think barb and druid are underpowered early game . I think the other classes are overpowered.
This was a great review, one of the best I've seen.
So happy to see you topping the charts right now bud. Good on ya & stellar content as usual. See ya in Sanctuary.
Finally, this is the type of information i've been wanting. An actual deep dive into what you'll actually be doing day to day. I'm still gonna stick to my plan to just hold off buying until seasonal content is out and see how that is because doesn't really seem like D4 is gonna be worth buying to me just yet as that will determine if i think it's worth cause the endgame sounds hella sparse right now.
Incredible review. You sold me. I haven't been this excited for a game in so long.
Great in-depth honest review about the good and the bad of D4. Got my respect for the genuine honesty @force gaming.
Very detailed review, great job.
cleanest final review ive seen already thanks a ton for being so simpel and upfront with it and and walking us through it logically hah. good advice nad simple info~ already psyched way more thne i expected to play for early release BUUUUUUUUUUT your video singlehandedly explained it to my brother who hasnt played real games in like 3 years and now i think i can get him to play with me the next weekend after early launch lol
Thanks for the great and detailed (but not too detailed) review! I'm always curious how these companies price things in their shops. It's as if they actually don't want to sell anybody anything. Or they think there is some 'value' to making gear super-exclusive.
Nobody cares about how many other people have the same piece of kit. We are all immersed inside our own personal 'story' in games like this, even multiplayer games. I always feel it's better to sell stuff to more people at a price the majority can afford, rather then cater to some exclusive 'elite' of players with disposable incomes. It's helps get more players invested and engaged in their characters without feeling taken advantage of.
Most cash shop pricing comes across as predatory, making kids and people on fixed incomes spend un-wisely on scarceless assets. Oh well, some things never change I guess.
Great review man. Clear, structured, well put together. Thanks!
Best review period. All the info you need is here. Well done!
Thank you for this great video. Very good how you explain how everything is working on this game. Its a plesure to listen to you👍 I never play this sort of games but I think I will buy this one. You have a good day❤
Been playing the last 3 days grouped with friends. It’s pretty good and has that “Diabloey” feel people were hoping for. They couldn’t afford to mess this game up with all the years of criticism behind it.
Thank you for the detailed review!
Dood you rock! Super detailed, while excluding any spoilers. Killer review!
Really nice video. Concise, informative, very reasoned. Overall it looks good.
Fantastic review! Easy to understand and super detailed.
Very excited to try this game out thanks for the review!
My friend recently asked me if I wanted to play the game and from the amount of review videos I've seen. your's felt more as a personal take Idk if that makes sense. But it felt genuine and gave me a good idea as to what's in the game, what to expect and if it will be worth the time and money. Sadly for me I don't think I'll be getting much worth out of this title compared to other Diablo titles but I appreciate it nonetheless. Very helpful review it gave me all the info I needed to make a choice.
Now THAT is a review. The best I've seen so far. Interesting topics and information. Great job!
I hope they add more world bosses ASAP! That is what I'm looking forward to doing more than anything else in this game. Farming up world bosses at every opportunity baby!
This is a really good review. Thank you for this. I feel more confident i will have fun. For how many hours, weeks, months, years i don´t know. But i feel confident i will have fun based on everything you said. I like that you lifted your concerns it means i will know about them. Over all it feels very genuine you in all you said.
As someone whose never played Diablo...I'm super hyped for this.
Amazing breakdown. Appreciate the effort 👌
Shop day 1 isn't what I'm concerned about. The shop after the first to third month is what I'm worried about. All the shady stuff will be sneaked in once reviews are all done.
Yup. I will never trust Blizzard again. Skipping this. Definitely not dropping $70, at the very least.
Exactly. Everyone should wait at least three months before buying this.
@Gordon Seal It'll still be full price in three months. Hell, it's Blizzard. It'll be full price in half a decade.
Assuming 4-6 weeks for someone who will have the ability to play the game substantially more than the average player is honestly a really good sign that this game will have legs, at least for the first few months.
I don't plan on getting the game until (probably) at least the second season, simply because there are a couple other games that have a higher priority for me coming out within the time between D4 release and the first season start, but I'm glad that there will actually be a decent amount of actually enjoyable content to keep me engaged beyond completing the campaign, when I do eventually get the game.
This looks and sounds pretty time consuming in the best way possible. Love it
nah its a joke
This is the sort of review I appreciate, thanks dude.
It's a relief this turned out to be great based off all the reviews.
I remember when playing d2r we all thought it was gonna suck glad to be wrong!
Diablo 4 is gonna be the game that's gonna need to be reviewed every season.
Starting to follow Dennis when he was hyping me up for Diablo 3, getting nostalgic watching him reviewing D4 now. Keep up the great work Force great content and have fun playing D4
Wow this was disappointing to read, Diablo 3 was awful
Appreciate you as always man. Thanks for the review. This is enough for me to make the call to dive in.
Thanks for making that video. I like your videos because you're very informative and you make sense when you talk. Keep up the good work!
Excelent review! Well done!
great review. I'll wait to see how it turns out because I've got zero faith in Activision/blizzard to deliver a good product
Regarding Engame Tree + Heltide zones (and the efficiency of having both close together) I wonder how data-minable are they when it comes to the when and where, because we could very well see a 3rd party website planning the most efficient path to take, telling you like "Be here in 23 minutes!".
i think the biggest problem for d4 when it comes to difficulty lvl is the fact, that theres also a hc mode which should be playable. if u create content so tough, that literally everything or any boss will kill u whenever u sneeze, it would become unplayable and absolute trash. if u are looking for a challange u might should go for max lvl nm dungeons or play less op speccs :D im fine with it as it is since im playing d4 to feel powerfull and kill many monsters.
with this said, i want to thank u for ur overview. great job
They'll most likely come out with any even hard tier at some point just like they did in d3. Probably something that scales infinitely like greater rifts
They actively said many times they were not gonna do that because they didn't like it being just a numbers game
So i'm very curious what they'll do instead
@Neon_1990 well not sure what they will do to for replayability then. Once people gear out there characters and have the game on farm there's no point to keep playing.
@ebon star well if you need 500h to really max it all, is it really matter the replayability after this? maybe 10% of the player base can get to these numbers.
and ofcourse you can open second char...
and they can add more gear and same level monsters but with harder mechanics and maybe time leaderboards and such
@Neon_1990 And yet, the only meaningful endgame content is nightmare dungeons... which is just a numbers game..
the avarice world boss, spawns goblins when you stagger it 2-3 goblins each time, so if you have a lot of stagger, you can get some nice bonus loot doing avarice
Nice balance of fun and throttled expectations. Cant wait to jump in!
amazing review. thank you for covering everything. now I know what to expect. smashing that like button!
This is a very well structured review.
So excited for this game!!!! Really hoping for a holy or even a nature/plant character like poison ivy/Persephone 🤭✨✨
i'd be happy with a good foundation for d4's launch. PoE proved that it's possible to advance a games mechanics every 3 months. It'll be interesting to see what season 1 does. and it will be interesting to see what they can do for season 2. Thank you for the review. I've stayed very unplugged from D4 development as I just didn't want to get hyped again. But it looks like the next year of Diablo could be quite interesting.
Cope
Im just worried that they wont keep good mechanics like PoE and throw all away after new season as they kinda said to make it simpler for new plebs.
Blizzard fans are satisfied with so little. They got used to it lol
Great extentional review. Great content as always. Great takes. Love your vids!
You know boss fight are strange, if you play a range type, most of the time they are too easy and when you play melee you have to run for them like crazy and it become very bad.... So Boss fight depend on which class you play.
been watching since your d3 beta vids so glad to see you doing well!
Thanks for the review Force. It's good to hear from someone who isn't just regurgitating over/under hyped talking points. See you in Sanctuary.
been waiting for this review as out of everyone covering it you've come across as the most fair. looking forward to thursday
Really glad I saw this review. Went from not wanting to buy it (I was iffy with the beta), to buying the deluxe edition. I just really want a good isometric ARPG to play on the PS5, and Path of Exile didn't really do it for me as I already played that for tons of hours on the PC.
I don't mind the cash shop, just hope it don't get out of hand. I understand a live service costs money to constantly add content to. I just hope they do live service better than most as it really could be a great model when done right. And I am aware we are talking about Blizzard here, so I am a bit worried with how it will end up. But the release should at least be fine. At this point I would rather get in early before they screw it all up, if they do.
This was 1 of the better reviews. Thanks!
If you and a budy play into the endgame and start playing the level 100+ stuff, do you both need to be the same level to play stuff together? Or does it just ballance the enemy level for each player on the team?
Great review, thanks Force. Looks like more of the same to me, gonna have to pass on this one. I'm really curious to see how this game pans out though, lots of hype for it, probably a little too much.
try last epoch if you haven't already. I canceled my D4 prepay because I think it is a much better game all around.
@anthony archer I have played it and I totally agree, Last Epoch is great and it keeps getting better.
A complaint people had was that the dungeons felt too samey. I noticed you didn't talk about that.
I remember first finding your channel during the Diabl 3 beta, and have been in love with your channel ever since, don’t comment, if at all on the videos I watch, but want to say it was really fun to go back to the original days of when you did star craft commentary in Diablo content nearly exclusively with your coverage of Diablo 4!
I normally skip through these videos. Well done. Great information. Easy to follow. And great footage making this overall entertaining. I now want to buy this game. Hopefully it’s not disappointing like D3
Thanks for the review. This is exactly what I expected. Not bad but not good either. Just for the casual player. Very happy I just bought the standard edition.
If they add rune words and make them extremely rare it would increase the longevity of looking for loot. They also need many more aspects. There’s no reason every skill shouldn’t have aspects to boost them. It’s disappointing that some skills have 3 while others have zero.
The final abilities on skill trees need work. A couple are amazing while most are very sad.
The question according to difficulty is: Did you play in a group (which I heard before, trivialises the difficulty immensly)?
About your complaint that they only created a solid base without expanding on the systems, I think they will fully embrace PoE's model with big system update every season, and some of them getting included in the base game. For a base version, it doesn't seem there's any big flaw or gap in the gameplay, so I'm optimistic. If we get to avoid the usual server problems, this will be a nice launch
There are so many flaws in base game: variety, itemization, build diversity, game mechanic diversity etc. It is literally reskinned Diablo 3. Even end game is the same but now in dungeons. There is no REAL end game where you get other real goals aside of just gearing. Diablo's end game is just repeating dungeons like rifts in D3. Blizzard has not evolved in the last 15 years.
Nice review. And by knowing Blizzards track record lately, it might actually be silver lining that they didn’t try anything too risky with this one 😅
...give them time
I can't stand the paywall, I'm refunding
@Vash Paywall? What paywall?
@Tallestdwarf you know the one paywall in his own head telling themself they want all the skins, but there poor.
I remember when you played diablo 3 beta and I think we were all way more excited back then.
I'm curious how D4 will turn out.
I love that barb feels harder since in beta the easier characters felt stupidly easy. Im gonna roll a barb solely for this reason. Okay also for the umpf effect of barbs attacks :D
Great review Force! My concern is if the legendary items will start raining from the sky. The game difficulty will become obsolete pretty fast if this is the case. I was disappointed when I saw the part with the hell tide chest when 4 sacred popped up. This is insane. I hope they will reduce the drops.
Depends on the time sink of doing something like that is imo. If it's like d3 with every 3 mins you get a loot pop from rift guardian that's too much. But if a helltide/world boss is a 20-30 min time sink I think a loot pop is justified.
I loved the last Beta had so much fun. Couldn't stop. I really cannot wait to play again, which I start pretty soon!
The sorceress was always easy in the beginning compared to other classes imo. They can kite
I feel like the PvP area being relatively small is intentional. I think people might say it would be boring if it was too big.
You might have found it boring simply because there were no other players.
I feel like the "Yo-Yo" of difficulty going from very difficult to very easy is uniquely diablo. I kind of enjoy that about D2 especially. getting to Baal the first time and realizing you are not quite strong enough. then you find that one piece of gear that really helps your build and you go back and squash him. I like that.
me too
Hey man, been followin ya a bit, great vid, thanks for what you do, just two quick questions about the Pargaon Board if you can answer.
Do they all start as 3-block radius at level 1? And I saw you had some level 7 Glyphs, what was the maximum radius you achieved? 4? 5? Or more? I heard the radius goes up as you level them, but haven't found much specific information.
Force, what about performance issues?
My biggest concern right now is if Blizzard fixed the issues regarding GPUs straight-up frying during certain portions of the game (such as when interacting with shop NPCs) and certain cutscenes (such as the chapel flashback).
Even in the Server Slam I still saw reports of players with perfectly fine rigs (some even brand new) that got fucked up by this problem. During the closed beta it apparently affected only users of Gigabyte 3080ti, but other models were also reported to be affected.
I'm super hyped for this game but I'm genuinely scared to risk my GPU playing it.
So, they created a strong foundation for a live game. All the other ARPGs are pretty easy early on and get harder later, so hopefully the season content will add harder bosses after everyone gets a chance to play the story and base game.
The biggest problem I have with this game is the fact that during my beta playthrough I felt like I've already played this game before. It was mildly fun but nothing more. For a 90$ pricetag and battlepasses its just a no for me.
Great job, as always. Personally, the only thing that I unconditionally like about D4 are the graphics and the general tone of the world. Comparing with PoE, which is what is going to happen, D4 right now looks like a prettier, but a lot more shallow game. I'm not terribly bothered with the cosmetics, as long as there is no gameplay impact. It's sad, it's unfair, but it is where we are now.
