Hope you saved some good ones for season 9!
Oh no the theft now knows are strategies
This is why we have the vault
Lel
Hi Grian! Love ur vids!
*vault*
As a wise man once told me:
"It doesn't matter if it's a dirt shack or a mansion, it is home once the crafting table touches the furnace"
@Robert sun tzu
Enough to make a gamer cry
Whoever it was, they are very wise
Lord mumb'
You guys have it all wrong. The wisest say, " If it has a door, it's home"
Grain "stole" a lot of stuff last season, I would love to see these implemented into the next season. It would be hilarious if Mumbo's whole storage was hidden
@Thomas Walder you predicted it lol
@Olivia Bodily grain*
Grian can’t be blamed for all the lag. For all we know it was mumbo’s redstone that caused it!
@The Genius Tavish you made it to the end well the person at the end is grain
What do you mean stole? The server was so laggy that's why!
Sometimes finding the small editing errors makes me smile. Not because I laugh at Mumbo's editing ability(sorta), but because it is making him seem more genuine and down to Earth in comparison to large Clip-Sharers who are more professional and don't seem as genuine.
I love how much more thought mumbo is putting into his showcase builds for the video, he really is becoming a better builder
Most of them were so simple, yet so clever and good looking! It definitely shows that you're getting way better as a builder as well!
Also, PLEASE use some of them in S9! Maybe you could make a game out of it?
@senni bgon Would have to be a roof design, I don't think those place upside down.
The bottom of barrels also have a spruce plank-like texture, so maybe you could incorporate that into a floor design and they wouldnt realise
Disclaimer: the Decorative Buttons trick does NOT work on Grians
yeah those annoying grians always break redstone stuffs all the time and somehow finds ur secret stuff
edit:definitely a joke
@Kineticat ok good you deleted it, it just gets annoying when you see it everywhere
@puffin tf i don’t remember commenting that
@Kineticat please no, just leave the stupid copypastas in the comments of the person who made it up.
@SpeedyAzaan this is a Minecraft video
1:07 I really appreciate the incorporation of Jimmy's building style into this video. 😏
Needs a cod pond
@GothBoy UK you thought where getting hearted
dontcha mean timmy? xD
DANGG
Shots fired
Something I like to do, is place an oak trapdoor under a chest surrounded by birch planks, then have a chest under the trap door... I think it was oak with birch planks. Simple, and blends in well.
Probably one of my best hidden valuable chests (I don’t make many) was one where it was hidden behind a dirt block in a hill with nothing giving it away. The way you got to the barrel was you had to place a lever in a specific spot and flick it to open the piston which then gives you access to it. And of course, the only way it was found was by an X-ray player. :( it was a really good spot though.
I love the nether portal one, not because hidding stuff as i play alone, but it's super useful. Linking a portal to two portals, something i didn't know you can do. (Although i'm still kinda new to minecraft)
Mumbo: “If you’re on a server with someone who looks like this, your items are probably not safe.”
Also Mumbo: “Strange, your beacon glitched to my base”
@purdytail def lag
grian"hey my beacon is gone"
mumbo"weird maby lag "
grian"Ya LaG"
it works in both ways
No, it *lagged* !
I just thought of two improvements for that lectern one. First improvement: have it hooked up to a really long delay, so the thing doesn't open right away. Second improvement: have it hooked up to a locking repeater, so that if you turn the page from the correct one it locks, and when the delayed signal gets to the end of the line, the locking repeater keeps it from triggering the piston.
Super useful. I am definitely using these mechanics to build caches all over the place from here on
I'm glad to see you're working on the newest edition of the K.G.O.O.M.R! And thank you as always for putting the world save up for download. Even if it isn't 100% necessary to recreate the redstone, it's still always fun to explore!
are you ironic about the world download or am i missing something bcs i see no download here
Also, you could use a 1x1 painting and carry a trapdoor on you, way less suspicious than a 1x2
I love how much more thought mumbo is putting into his showcase builds for the video, he really is becoming a better builder
@Animating Hufflepuff yea, there are 2 bots here that comment the exact same thing.
its just simple redstone.
LETTHE WARZ BEGIN ONCE AGAIN
@Sound City (PRAY FOR ME) bruh bot
This is very helpful for those playing on those particularly laggy servers
Let's take the moment to appreciate how effort he puts into the content for us
The bottom of barrels also have a spruce plank-like texture, so maybe you could incorporate that into a floor design and they wouldnt realise
Note to everybody: For the one with the barrels in the ground, make sure you farm the land or you won’t be able to reach the barrels. (:
Also try to avoid lag, it can make things randomly disappear from your chests
@Brian Seegmiller it's the other way around.Grian's beacon lagged into Mumbo's base
@The Flying Bush It is a reference to Grian stealing Mumbo's Items and saying that it was caused by server lag.
I don't get it :/
AHA!
I think my best trick I came up with was making an already hard to get to vault, that wasn't exactly obscured, but just private. Stores basic armor, weapons, and semi-valued items. Then, I'd build an elaborate secred door system that's impossible to know about, which stores all the real valuables. Diamonds, advanced weapons and armor.
Thanks for making this video! I've finally made the switch to java and have been playing a lot with my friends on a realm recently (one of whom was taking my stuff a couple days ago lol), so this should be quite useful!
Mumbo, not sure that you know this, but with the arrow-breaking-minecart trick, you can actually make a reusable system by replacing the minecart with a pressure plate and aiming at the lower corner of the block that contains said pressure plate.
I just need Mumbo to implement some of these tricks on an SMP now to test them while near red-jumpered gremlins 😂
I must say, I love Hermitcraft, but I also love having this constant stream of funny little videos, they are so pleasing to watch!!! Love you Mumbo!!!
@AdamRee1940 not making fun just enjoying his Britishness
@chad Why are making fun of the people who loves Mumbo Jumbo’s videos? I love his videos.
This is the most British fanboy comment I have ever seen
I do daily shorts of hermitcraft if you need your HC fix
Yes definitely agreed 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for showing these! I really like the one at 12:37. I'm working on a different variant of it. One that only activates if a disc is dropped.
@Tom 273 probably lol
@KITCOYYOY MAIN ACCOUNT I think I owe mumbo an apology for zoning out during a video
@Tom 273 10:30
@KITCOYYOY MAIN ACCOUNT there was a wishing fountain???
@Tom 273 I'm pretty sure the wishing fountain was the key card
The one stack of diamonds in each barrel represents Mumbo’s entire fortune in Hermitcraft Season 8
I remember having a thought pertaining to X-Rayers and hidden underground chests: how could a person hide their valuables underground without the chest appearing on the X-Rayer's screen? I couldn't really come up with anything good, until watching this: just put the items in a dispenser. Dispensers probably aren't a very high priority on most X-Rayers' lists, so it wouldn't be actively searched for.
Downside is they only have 9 slots
11:54 i have a way to partially fix that issue, just put trapdoors on all 4 corners it still might look a little bit suspicious but it helps a lot
I just wanted to say thank you mumbo. I've watched every episode you've put out and i listen to your Playlists while I'm working. Thank you for everything. You are awesome. Any ideas when season 9 comes out
I've got an idea! Sometimes your builds might have little spots that nobody will see. For example, if there are four rooms divided by wall in the shape of a plus sign, nobody is going to see whatever is in the middle corner. So you can hide your items there.
I simply just use a small room inside an underground magma sea, which is only accessible by a extending tunnel trough the magma which opens if the tunnel reaches the room. It's not only save from griefers, It's even safe from most versions of X-ray. But I use that room mostly as a control room for the security system, which protects my entire base including my items.
1:07 I really appreciate the incorporation of Jimmy's building style into this video. 😏
On that lectern one, theoretically you could still be relatively secure with just one - just add a pulse extender with a huge delay so that you just need to have it open on the page for a while before it opens. Random people scrolling through, even knowing about this trick, would likely just flick between pages until they hear the piston noise. Adding that delay would negate that.
* keep yourself safe *
@Bastian_5 make sure to have a few extras that arent connected at all too
@fxxch0y3s this is so me 😂
@fxxch0y3s on some servers and other things you can't break stuff on someone's base
@fxxch0y3s obsidian is always an option also, if you hide te thing u use to read the books nd the wall is the same for a long place i doubt someone wil catch it
On the grass one with the hopper minecart. You dont need the hopper minecart in the grass. You can just have it bellow the grass. Just have it on a detector rail. To remove the item from the Minecart you just need a piston to pull the rail out from under it.
I know someone might of said this before, but I would imagine that Stropped oak logs would probraly match the color of the brown shulker boxes enough that it would be even more difficult to tell.
A way to spice up the signs and painting trick is to use trapdoors except place them facing on the floor so then the only way to enter is by shifting which most people would not think to do.
Here's an idea: Make a hidden door opened by a hidden item frame combination lock… except you have to place the item frame and the button before entering the combination :3
It’s becoming increasingly obvious. we can deny no longer!: Mumbo is a Master builder.
Watching him slowly improve his building with each new episode is truly motivating
Indeed. Although for the sake of tradition I hope his interest and learning in redstone persists alongside it :)
@Tyler Beery
im sure you do
Mumbo a master builder? I spend my day with builders much better than hermits. He's still got a long way to go but he is getting there. I for one am decent at building but I'm probably not better than hermits builders
he's gonna build that double decker couch soon! XD
Now all I’m thinking of is Emet from the Lego movie
Idea for a video, you should hop onto bedrock for a while and play around with trident killing machines. They’re really useful for farms and i kind of wish they were on java.
If you use a polished black button you can kind of hide it with the 2x2 painting Stage. The button should be in the bottom right block so it blends in with the paintings black texture at that spot. It's similar to the stone button on stone trick so a good eye can still spot it. Also probably won't work with texture packs.
But it's a nice trick to combine with other stuff.
The decorative button one would make a cool looking door.
I like how Mumbo kept the more valuable (but hard to break)netherite blocks outside of his impenetrable fortress
I can confirm that “being poor” actually works. Never had my stuff stolen using this technique. Not once.
The one that works the best is just have all your stuff in a mess so the person stealing your stuff just gives up this is the method grian uses
@zooburp oh yes 100%
Or just don’t play Minecraft, that one is flawless
only trick that works on poultry man(grian)
I have absolutly had this happen.
8:20 you could have just used a hoe which would have automatically turned back to dirt (unless a water source is nearby) no red stone needed.
11:30 you could put a trapdoor on the stair to make it more hidden
Ah yes, these are very useful ideas on how to hide my valuables from everyone else on my single player game.
8:20 you could have just used a hoe which would have automatically turned back to dirt (unless a water source is nearby) no red stone needed.
I'm sure the items will be perfectly safe as long as there's no "lag"
@Bastian_5 ok thanks for the advice I guess...
@dragon camman18 You have not read the ancient manuscripts. Go now and study memes from 2007 like a true boss would.
the f every time I reply in this section I always either ask something or say lol at the end why the hell did I not realise that wtf.
@Bastian_5 why in the hell would you mess with system32 in first place lol?
Chorus fruit? Great for an underwater getaway, just have a small section that isn't waterlogged, eat, hop in. Even better, make it a small section you dry out with redstone, eat in, which triggers everything to get wet again, and you're in securely.
Better version of painting: dig a pit so that you have to shift to the edge of the block to get the goods
Idea: A cobblestone generating bridge
Detailed: Its a bridge maker like the basalt one, but it has lava on one side and water on the other and it makes cobblestone as it moves. Honestly if you were able to make it produce obsidian instead of cobble it would be even cooler
Didn't bring up the hidden stairs trick, although maybe it's been patched since I used it. You use to be able to use a corner stair and you could actually reach through it
The portal trick is actually really good. I would never figure that out
i sometimes enter the portal just barely, and i seen some people do it too, so im not sure its a good strategy
@TheName'sArif add a vault and elder guardian to prevent mining then even if they get into your vault you can simply lock it down by breaking the portal behind them when they get in, and to get out you need to access the vault's interior, maybe by pushing a button to reignite the portal
It's used real well by speedrunners to spawn a portal straight in the stronghold, even at times in the portal room.
but there's a chance someone will go through by luck and have some good dinner
For the Piston Dinner Table, you bet I'm going to end up putting a Sword, Trident, Shovel and some food in the Barrel, not for any other reason, but it's technically cutlery and food.
8:03
Yeah I noticed that the torch was causing a BUD. In my opinion they should get rid of it it’s an old unintentional bug that the Java team left cause to many people used it and didn’t want to break to many builds. It’s old now and should be removed. It realistically makes no sense in terms of how things should be powered.
The most secure one for me is the piston door that opens upon throwing an item on the ground, but attached to an additional item filter that only accepts a special kind of item, renamed in a particular way (kinda like password).
Love the redstone vids you make, I would really like to see you make a fully functioning Rubiks Cube 3x3.
for decorative barrels: throw in some resources you don’t need in a couple of them like you just ditched them there during a building project and it will probably throw them off more
dude read my name
I know it doesn't look as fancy but I've always preferred smooth stone slab to anvil for a sconce looking torch
I hardly ever play minecraft anymore but I still watch Mumbos videos he’s really just a great content creator
7:06 "however i do have to say it looks quite complicated but i can promise you it's pretty simple"
"now to make this all you need is to make a pulse extender which links into a flux capacitor that then turns into an ion drive"
Also when you put water bucket in slab observer can detect it so you can use that to hide your base.
The "pathfinder" one can be simplified by using a hoe instead of shovel, because you need no redstone- just jump on the farmland to convert it to dirt.
@thatPaxyton One day that saved time will prove essential.
I always keep a diamond hoe in my ender chest. It's great in case you come across a monument so you can loot all the sponges.
@thatPaxyton you could also just make a wooden one
@Jessica Zhi yeah i know, i just don’t care. i need the other stuff in my hot bar much more often, so i just take the longer breaking times. i prefer the extra slot to faster breaking times.
You should make some kind of surveillance system somehow, where it doesnt stop or alert the thief, but alerts you with their information. No clue how you'll do it but if anyone's capable, its you.
I love that I watch Mumbo when i'm a bedrock player so this is basically useless info, but he's fun to watch. And much luke old servers see redstone as magic, Bedrock players will only ever know redstone as dark magic
@Mr. Dipper Faux why matter
@Mr. Dipper Faux nah
@Vexur nothing compared to java and it's random so every once in a while things don't work right if they do once. And jungle temples don't work right, almost no piston doors work and we can't do the crouching with trap doors
@Mr. Dipper Faux lots of red stone stuff you can do on bedrock
@Vexur not really what? finish your statement if you're gonna say i'm wrong
Fun video. My one disappointment was that there was a conspicuous lack of boats and hoes being hidden away.
I have a clever redstone idea. You can link pressure plates up to some redstone and pistons next to a nether portal so when people come to the nether to steel your stuff they will be stuck in the nether forever.
The one where it takes a few seconds for the items to appear is actually neat. Also the nether portal one.
Literally the only thing he has is diamonds. What a legend ;)
Fr
These vids are rly my favorite ones of urs, same with the 50 redstone contraptions things i find the tutorial-style vids rly enjoyable lol
for the one that requires chorus fruit, pickaxes exist just mine the nether bricks and open the chest
EnderPorter is probably the safest way to hide your valuables. Closed off room with and EnderPorter inside. Outside you have a redstone input signal that toggles the Enderporter inside the vault. Once inside throw a new enderpearl into the EnderPorter. Only you can get teleported to the vault that way.
The problem with barrels and fire is some people may have tekture packs that are going to make it easier for them to spot, back in the day i used tekture pack with smaller fire so it wouldn't obscure your Vision during fight.
I think etho's stained glass in a chest trick would work great for these ideas, take a comparator output from a chest with a single grey glass pane, when you take out the glass a door or hidden chest will be revealed. I mostly say this because in hermitcraft the chests that etho put his free glass into, looked completely empty but were actually completely full
"This redstone build is as easy as it gets"
Meanwhile, I'm happy if I'm able to activate a powered rail properly 😂
Only problem with this video is that now everyone that watched this will know of these tactics to hide things, making more people able to find the valuables.
Let's hope that some of these techniques prevent the items from lagging into Grian's inventory
I Remember when i was playing on a server with friends. I hided my diamonds and stuff in a chest under wooken planks and a crafting table. It worked well :)
Hear me out: use the throwing items onto the ground activation system for the "armory" but wire it up to TNT instead.
In Last Life Season 3 or some similar series, put that trap in front of people's storage rooms/chestmonster (they'll probably throw junk out of their inventory and onto the floor when organising), and watch as they hear the hiss and panic, but struggle to get out.
No bait or anything else necessary.
@Unket uhh
@kell¡e1005 I literally accidentally commented 2. I don't even know what that is
@Unket 2's already done, they can wait for some other series since i think ll is being discontinued

Okay calm down Satan
The path finder one, just use a hoe so you don't have to use redstone, works the same (I am the grian of my friends server, I build. I can't redstone.)
You could build some sort of redstone contraption with hoppers, something like a sorting system, and then pretend it doesnt work, while it should, but you on purpose dont use it, becouse all the valuables are hidden in the hoppers, despite there being chests for said variables. If so, not even client side mods and hacks will help people locate your stuff, becouse when they find the sorting system, they will not think of it more than that, since there will be chests with a little stuff in them, which will be the best distraction there could be.
Something you can do to stop X-ray users is to hide a chest inside a cluster of ore like iron or coal that they would not often go out of their way to get.
Mumbo: noone will definitely check the back of the chests after looking at the front!
Faction server players: allow us to introduce ourselves
to protect your items in an anarchy server, store them under a naturally generated lavapool. xray doesn't look through lava although block esp would be a problem, but the best way you could store them is 27 shulker boxes in an ender chest which gets you 729 slots
@LuizGuiPro that's why you'd put the least valuable items out of the ender chest. And I was moreso suggesting the biggest possible storage
@CarrotT what is the point? isnt that the same as a single ender chest?
hacked clients can see shulker's items, so it would be easy for the guy to get that bundle
@AmberAmbitions wouldnt really matter , when they notice what you have done they will just blow up the base and none of you will get the stuff
@Danny J if your gonna lose your stuff you might as well do it in style.
How to stop X-ray (kind of):
Put items in item frames under a lava pit in a cave.
that one with the nether portal was really crazy i didn't know that you could abuse the existence of decimals to hide your items
tip: you can just have them in your inventory/hotbar with keepinventory on
Mumbo: **is a redstone and mathmatical mastermind**
Also Mumbo: "I hope it's 33 because im not that good at counting"
2:58 I like how the safe to his valuables are much more valuable then his chest
Looking for this comment
im happy, that Mumbo Jumbo shows only 1 out of 1000 of his redstone skills, so it is still possible for us to remake his builds
You could put slabs behind the painting instead of signs you would still be able to open the chest but you wouldnt be able to walk through the painting
ok so i just had an idea. you could combine Create and Immersive portals to create a video game. create released a new update with a Linked Controller, which would work perfectly for it. im sure you can figure everything else out :)
The best hiding spot is in the lava pool place a hopper under the lava (first clear the area) then put a cheat under it but also remember the coordinates. 😅
It would be a fun idea to make a base out of all of this
You should make a safe house with all of these and no one can break in!- unless they have a pickaxe.
1 way you can hide them from X-rayers is surround them by some type of ore that they won’t want, like copper or coal, all they will see is a big patch of ore that don’t care about
The only issues with hiding things in minecraft, without use of mods, cheating, or ender chests, is that nothing is safe and can is destructable. Locked doors and such are useless to a pickaxe. the only way to ensure someone doesn't take your things is to make sure they never know about them, but that still won't stop nobody from drilling random holes in your house, unfortunately.
Mumbo: "People don't like touching complicated redstone contraptions..."
Grian: "Allow me to introduce myself."
on my friend's realm, i'm currently using the "bury it underground" method... but with an actual buried treasure chest generated by the game itself, and i just keep the map to it on my person at all times
EDIT: also, your chorus fruit vault is worth more than its contents.
