That Aiel scene is pure gold, that's the way Aiels fight! Also Logain melting the cage around him.... so good!

it's pure garbage tier TV. This tv series is utter trash. Go read the books instead. The books are great.

@Elizabeth Sedai that’s what I’m guessing. Why not show the front of the character? I think it’s some pretty smart filmmaking, showing the scene play out without revealing much about the character’s features and then BOOM … perspective change and you see that it’s a woman.

After accepting thag this will be different from the books in some way. I'm actually enjoying the show.
It took me some time adjusting that the characters are made a bit older than in the books.

@maha sohona no, your the Fool it’s exactly how he says it is , there a meld between animal and beast there’s actually depictions of the trollocs on the book covers and crazily enough there’ based around different animals. Just watched episode 4 and there overlooking a lot of important facts that will come up later in the series , if the director is a fan he clearly doesn’t care about the 3 oaths , people wouldn’t rush aes sedai they’d be scared of them . It’s being rushed and not building it up

Ohhhh I PRAY they do this series justice. It was literally the first book that got me reading and I haven't looked back since, almost 23 years ago. I have read sooo many great fantasy books and series since, but I will never forget the feeling of this one. Honesty, I never even finished it, but have read the first 7 books or so multiple times. When one was close to coming out, I'd have to brush up. When Mr. Jordan started rambling, god rest his soul, I just couldn't get through a couple books. The plot didn't move at all. I heard Brandon Sanderson did the end of this great series justice, but I honestly don't know how it ends. I hope they get GOT esk with it and stay as true as possible with and astronomical budget. I would love to wait to see the end after 10 seasons or so. Even if its was shortened a bit, I definitely think this great story could be shared with millions on par, if not better, that GOT. I think the 1st half of the series' books were way better than any of GOT.

The feeling of seeing the WoT come to screen after so many years is beyond description. These books saved my life as a teenager when I fled into the third age to get out of my own head. My right arm is a sleeve of Wheel of time tattoos. I either read or listen to the story every two years or so. Now I can share my love of these characters with other people without scaring them away with the simple length of the story.

John, have you read the books! Seen the series? They butchered those books worse than any adaptation I've ever seen! They basically re-wrote the story using the books as some sort of rough guideline and then butchered their way through it. It starts from the very first episode. I made it through two before I couldn't take it. It doesn't even stand on it own, much less as an adaptation.

I really enjoyed the 4 episodes already on Amazon Prime. My whole family did, so we’re just stoked for more. But I completely understand the frustration of having already read a story & directed it in your head, to then have someone come along and turn it into mince meat. I can empathize in a big way on that score. But we’re instant fans over here.

@Hera Kles Nynaeve doesn't stay the same, and at first she's actually a deeply insecure young woman who hides it through her anger. Her journey throughout the series is learning how to accept and let go of control what people believe or their actions. Deep down, she has a heart that's compelled to help everyone. But she doesn't understand that she can't just erase problems away through her shear force of will.
This change in her is shown through Egwene and Lan. Nynaeve goes from being above Egwene, to accepting her leadership- but that doesn't mean she'll just follow them. She becomes a follower of the best kind- one that's passionately caring of those around her, and is willing to rationally argue her point if she thinks it's for the best.
The Ultimate display though is Lan, old Nynaeve would never let him do it at all, and even by the time Lan said this desire of his. Nynaeve struggled to accept this of Lan, but in the end she does because she saw the conviction of the man. And while she deeply disagrees with what he'll do, she also respects him. So instead, she did a compromise by letting him go, but not before trying to get people to go with Lan to the end. All his life, Lan avoids Malkiri and anyone who's connected to the nation. But if he is planning to fight for them, then he needs to face not just his old kingdom, but also the people who make it up. And Nynaeve realizes this need of her lover.

    • Golly
      Golly 6 months ago +1

@Hera Kles Nynaeve hardly stays the same. If anything she's the first of the women that go from "Ugh men are so stupid and useless" to actually trying to care and work with them. Followed by Elayne. And Egwene... I don't think Egwene every loses her stubbornness regarding men.

I've been hyped about this for a long time. The wheel of time has its own identity most people will probably compare it to lord of the rings Like how all future fantasy series will be however it's definitely its own thing. Hope this delivers for readers and non readers alike.

I'd left a comment that I thought the CGI looked like the usual Amazon prime crap, but I'm here to correct myself, because it's actually quite stunning. The first episode especially. I've heard they spent ridiculous sums of cash per episode and at least it actually shows. Kudos Amazon Studios.

I think that its actually pretty crappy and the weird movements when they channel are awful. But the all change of making the Drago n a woman changes the dynamic in a really unpleasant way. It basically affirms that equality is not the goal.

@Jeigh Neither CGI is good. But, just based on episode one, the series feels like it is trying to be as inoffensive as possible. Afraid of taking more daring approaches to scenes and dialogues. And the action scene is terrible.

I enjoyed the first season more than I thought I would. I have read the books. My only disappointment is that the quality of the show is not more professional. Meaning the actual type of film used. It has more of an old school TV look. I read that the actor playing Mat will be leaving. It’s not a good idea to change human beings once a story has begun, yet it has been done before. Thank you for the work done on this series. Perhaps you can take it up several notches next season.

not really they want this to be the next blood show and the material leans in a diffrent direction. Vikings had the same issue as well and dear god some of the statements. One of the female casts thinks it is good that men are shown as destroyers of the world then the truth in the books are that the men thought against a being that can basicly be described as the devil itself and it drove them insane just to temporary zeal it.
This will be the same look at all the nudity look how edgy I am american show while it warps the books. No thanks let it die in a fire.

There is a reason they waited until well after Robert Jordan died to make this series, it's an insult to his work. I mean the guy basically managed to do a battle of the sexes in book form, and that's a touchy subject that's hard to do without alienating half the audience, it's why he was so respected in the writing community. Yet, the series fails where Robert excelled. Where the books spun a web of believable political intrigue and tension, the series bludgeons you with agenda-driven changes to the characters, cast, lore, and story.

@DragonHeart613 She's twisting her words, that's all. If she knows it's one of the three, but they're standing in a group of five, it's not a "word that isn't true" to say that it's one of the five of you. She also knows that Egwene and Nynaeve are weakly ta'veren, or at least strongly tangled in the three's whirlpools, and wants to keep her control on them too.

@DragonHeart613 She does not mention the Dragon at all. Even if she had it would just be Aes Sedai generalising because they can't lie. It's just her Ta'veren talk from the first book expanded to include the girls (who are obviously Ta'veren despite never being called that).

yes! how did you know? haha the ending was a huge disappointment. the only reason i watched the show because i'm a huge Heroes of Might and Magic gamer, and this show pretty much fit the same narrative. the use of Chain Lightning is a signature move of the game, much like the show. from a logistical point, that final battle was dumb. the king could have ordered the magi to break the mountain sides right on the minotaurs and wipe them all out instantly. or have vats of oil flood the canyon, then light it up. clearly mindless writing.
