I upvoted your opinion, I've been a Laker fan since i was born.. my only "quip" with Lebron, especially if you wanna compare him to MJ or Kobe, is I frankly haven't seen one game where Kobe or MJ leaves the game with time left..regardless if they were down 20 with 10 secs left.. 🤷‍♂️ to me that says alot about character.. and no wonder hes lost so many nba championships..

Travis Hanks Jordan had one of the best players in the league on his team during his championship runs. The bulls made the playoffs just fine without Jordan. Lebron hasn’t had help of that caliber until AD. After lebron leaves a team they are horrible the next year. Lebron finally has an equal and will never get the respect he deserves cause old heads wanna feel nostalgic

Travis Hanks he willed his way to the finals multiple years with the Cavs. Through his “stats” injuries or just when they had bad games/ series. When MJ didn’t have his god squad he exited first round. MJ is the goat no doubt but stop acting like it’s unattainable for Lebron. If he wins more with the lakers he should have a chance in the conversation. Not just shutdown by some old heads who feel sentimental

Thank you Jimmy. At first I thought this would be a shot at the Lakers title win this year but then I realized he was saying how this changes nothing on the scale of how Lebron’s dominance has been asserted into NBA history. Lebron could win more chips if he wanted but nothing will change the fact that he is one of the best players of all time, if not the best.

Two of my biggest knocks on Bron was that he had it super easy when he joined Miami and that he only played against equal comp in the Finals because all the best teams were out West. This ring, I can't say shit about it because he honored his part. He made it to the WCF and the Finals. Wasn't his fault the Warriors were injured, The Clippers blew a 3-1, and the Heat blasted the best team in the league. He 100% eared this one imo.

If it was easy Wade and Bosh would have carried him in the 2011 Finals when he chocked and they would have actually performed like ALL STARS in the 2014 Finals but they were already injury prone and washed by 2013. The HEAT team is the most overated team ever, before 2012 they had no depth and after 2012 Wade and Bosh weren’t in their prime anymore, if you watched NBA the last 5-10 years you know that Superteam are overated, a team with 2 stars, great role players and a deep bench with great chemistry and a good coach -> Superteam with a big 3 but no depth and bad chemistry.
Lebron never had it easy, 2011 they lost the finals, 2012 down 3-2 against the Celtics in the ECF and had to play the best game of his career to go to the finals against another Big 3 KD, Russ and Harden+ a 2x Block champ Ibaka, 2013 they almost lost remember Ray Allen ? And 2014 the Spurs destroyed them they were just a way better team so how the hell he got it easy ? Just because you see 2 great name on the paper doesn’t mean that that team is better, the best team Lebron ever had was the 2020 Lakers and they only had 2 stars it’s a shame they broke the team and AD became injury prone if not they would have won more chips.

@JxmyHighroller awesome content!! Love your channel. Small comment- 4:05 a higher defensive rating is actually worse. DRTG is a measure of how many points the other team scores when that player is on the floor, so a numerically low DRTG is good (indicating less points allowed) whereas a higher defensive rating means their team allowed more points to be score against them when they're on the floor.

Maybe the strongest argument for LeBron as the GOAT is the sheer palpable terror Jordan fans show whenever a debate even starts. They're willing to hear Kobe's, Wilt's, Russell's, and Kareem's cases because they're confident they can present an irrefutable counterargument. But LeBron? He's doing things no one else ever has, including Jordan.

Nice video Jimmy- love your content- keep up the great work! One note regarding Lebron's constant badgering of refs to get fouls. Yes it is annoying... however he is the victim of a phenomenon which only one other NBA player in history had to suffer (Shaq). They are both so big and powerful that many (lots and lots actually) of hard fouls against them are ignored simply because they are such beasts that they often look unaffected by what is actually a rough foul. Of course the whining can get old. However, I imagine they feel that if they don't constantly ride the refs, that they'll get the short end of many calls just resulting in no calls. Thanks again for the hard work.

I think the ring does a lot for his legacy. He's bringing a ring back to one of the most successful franchise that have had a decade drought, leading the team in his 17th year. You cannot understate that. Not only that but he proved people wrong by winning in the west. Funny how the narrative around Portland, Houston, Denver, the Clippers and the other teams in the west changed because people can't give the man credit.

this is what I've been thinking when it comes to these accolades. If you win a ring but you're not The Guy during that final series, it will really affect the goat status. This is one of the reasons why I put Kobe behind Lebron. Sure you have great teammates, but are you the one who's the best during that series. But still, both are goat players but I can say that they are not the goat of the goats.

This lockdown season reminded me the 1999 lockout (not just because of the "lock" thing).
Shortened season, finals between an excellent western team (SAS - LAL) and a surprising eastern team (NYK - MIA)
easy win for the 36 years old OG (Robinson - LBJ), teamed-up with a younger PF (Duncan - Davis)...
    Spooky

Great content, but my opinion on two things. First, Magic had an argument for FMVP in both 1985 and 1988. He averaged 18/14/7 with 2.2 steals on 49.5% shooting in '85 (compared to Kareem's 25.5/9/5). And in 1988, he was totally the better player over the series, with a 21/13/6 on 55% shooting with 2 steals compared to Worthy's 22/7.5/4.5 on 49% shooting. Worthy won that MVP on the strength of his Game 7 (36/16/10) where Magic had 19/14/5 with 2 steals on just 9 shots. He wasn't 'outplayed' by Kareem or Worthy in those years. Second, Tony Parker's 2007 FMVP is more proof that defense is completely unvalued in the NBA when it comes to awards (or at least it was until Kawhi's FMVP win in 2014). The only thing Parker did better than Duncan in that series was score (24.5 ppg to 18.5). Duncan had more rebounds (11.5 to 5), more assists (3.8 to 3.3), more steals (1.3 to 0.8), and more blocks (2.3 to 0). In a series dominated by defense, it should've been Duncan's win again.

I've always been taught that it is impossible to complain. If you have no power over something or someone, you can't complain. If you had power over something or someone and did nothing about it, you still can't complain. I feel Lebron follows this rule with the foul calls.

Man you are correct how does no one understand that LeBron's legacy is over and to be honest if you have been watching basketball for the past 30 years you know Lebron James is the best player in history when it comes to how players play in the finals. He has proved himself better to the wizards, raptors, and warriors as he dominated all three teams in the playoffs who many thought we're better than lebron. He also dominated players like steph curry who many thought we're the best player in the league at that point in history. People need to know that new better players will always be coming and you cant expect one player to be the best in history forevery

What a lot of people don’t realize too is that Lebron has played 260 playoff games in his career. That’s literally 3+ seasons worth of basketball, so he’s basically played 20 NBA seasons and is still playing at a ridiculous level. People also forget about all of the playoff series that MJ lost, just because they’re not apart of his 6-0 finals record. Idk why everyone has to always compare them anyways, they are both incredible in their own way and are both GOAT status.

@Anchors and Anvils studio Bro do you even watch basketball? Lebron got injured last year and couldn’t play, and was 3rd in the West when he was injured. Plus he didn’t have “the same team” last year, he didn’t have Danny Green, Dwight, Avery Bradley, AD, Markeiff Morris, Quin Cook, and a number of other players, it was literally a completely different team and significantly worse. I know this doesn't make sense from a purely statistical point of view, but part of what made MJ the greatest was how much he made people care about basketball. I’m confused about 4:05 because having a higher defensive rating means Lebron has a worse defensive rating than AD. Defensive rating is a measure of points allowed per 100 possessions, which means the higher it is, the more points the player is allowing.

Not enough is mentioned regarding the number of finals appearances made by a player. People talk about wins but just making it to the finals is a really big deal too.
LeBron is currently one of only 4 players in history to have at least 10 finals appearances. That's insane.

  • Ryan Johnson
Ryan Johnson 2 years ago +3

I just don't understand how someone can hold going to the finals against someone. So if you get bounced in the first round it doesn't count no harm. But if you make it to the finals and lose we start counting it against you. Lebron has been in the league 17 seasons and been to the finals 10 times. And most other seasons he was a playoff contender. That feat is incredible.

  • Devidutta Biswabharati

Good video but the defensive rating stat was interpreted incorrectly. Having a lower # for defensive rating is actually better, while having a higher # is worse (opposite of offensive rating). So AD's defensive rating is actually a little bit better than LeBron's which makes sense since he's a great rim protector and primary help defender so he will overall typically have higher influence over the team's defense. LeBron is still playing good defense this series, but AD has been more impactful on defense. LeBron obviously still deserved FMVP this series, that shouldn't even be in question.

Forget 3-6 or now 4-7 what will it take for LeBron James to be seen as the greatest NBA player of all time in the eyes of the fans? Because let's be honest what made Jordan great really is not just his achievements it is his style of play that got people so awestruck because they never saw anything like that before. So people translated a great style of play to be the greatest player ever. He is surely the greatest stylistic player ever seen.... especially when it comes to scoring the basketball.

You said the narrative Anthony Davis has been playing "outstanding defense in comparison to LeBron" is false because LeBron has a defensive rating of 112.3 and AD 110.8. A lower defensive rating is better, a player's defensive rating is how many points per 100 possessions the opposition scores while that player is on the court- so a higher defensive rating would mean the opponent scores more while that player is on the court, so AD had a better defensive rating.

Winning a ring is good for anyone's legacy. LeBron is arguably Top3 all time, no doubt but considering Curry won his 4th ring in 2022, people can easily say Curry won more than LeBron in the same era. You could put an asterisk next to MJ’s 96 ring as well. Payton was injured and when he came back he was clamping MJ down. 98 you could argue push off, as well as horrible officiating in game 6. So that would leave MJ most likely 4-2 right there… but guess what? That’s a hypothetical, the facts are that Bron has 4 rings from 3 different franchises and won out the west, something MJ never did. I love both players, but hypotheticals don’t mean much.

I feel like guys like Lebron had to make all kind of moves behind the scenes and pull a bunch of string and change teams a bunch of times to win titles. I like it more if a guy just stays with the same team puts his head down and accepts what he’s given and makes the best of it. That’s how it should be in life. So, granted it’s still not easy to win, but for me, his four titles are equal to two in my mind.

Zach Altif bro you must be mad or something or a picture nerd all I was saying the truth and speaking my opinion so you must got offended about it but it's all good man I mean I like the 80s on up to the 90s 2000 basketball that's just my opinion what I like I just think this new era they too soft I like the old school era when the players play hard and they play for the Love of the game and not just for the money and they didn't jump the band wagon to go to the other teams to make super teams I like the bad boy era when they made Michael Jordan better player when he couldn't beat them detroit pistons for them two years but anyway I read your messages man and I mean you trying to be a funny guy I get it trying to crack jokes and stuff like that and you don't know you and you don't know you but I'm not about to go back and foward with you on here like it's Instagram Facebook and your other social networks we just only hear to state are opinion on what we think and I didn't even apply to you I applied to the message of the other guy and agree to what he said you know you didn't say nothing to him about what he said but you want to attack me or my opinion on what I said but it's all good bro I'm not about to go back and forth with you man . You win you like era I like old era . Just being real with you on two era if anybody else read message agree with it's to many politics all about money 💰 and not about love that's why the ticket sales went way down before out break virus .look it up

So we all just gonna ignore how lebron was complaining about a foul IN THE MIDDLE OF HIS LAYUP😂😂😂

  • ☄️Say my name☄️

I was hoping for a lakers vs celtics finals just like kobe back then so its a battle if two of the most successful franchises (in my opinion). But instead we got the heat, cant say im disappointed but i would rather have the celtics face off the lakers

I don't care how good a player is, championships don't come to those who can score at will and play great defense. The legends are the ones that make everyone around them play at their best. I hate to say it, but that seems to be what Tom Brady does best! Championships are won by a team, not a single player alone!
