I think what's really important to point out here is that even if you disagree with Tim Scott's policies, what people like him are doing now and on the other side what Pete Buttigieg did during HIS presidential campaign is that they are doing the important work of PERSUASION, trying to persuade the other side through dialogue, conversation, etc. I think that's so important for any healthy democracy regardless of where one falls. If more politicians on both sides engaged in this type of work, I think it'd be easier to reach compromises that would benefit more and more people and where people can feel like all voices are being heard to some extent, not just a few.

Only in America can such a thing be achieved. Even whoppie built the foundation of her career on actual talent and acting ability. Jumping jack flash, ghost, star trek? Just great performances all around that had nothing to do with such juvinile issues like ethnicity or gender.

@Rodney Mclin it is not systemic racism it is systemic poverty/economic status.
Nothing to do with skin color and everything to do with how people act/behave.
Family is the core. Two parent households behave better, get higher education, earn more. This the *underlying* issue.

@Archangel Musiche did use facts, but only selective facts…he basically argued the equivalent of “ pneumonia isn’t at all serious for people with preexisting conditions because I got it and did didn’t die” Witch doesn’t deal with the fact we’re taking about the AVERAGE situation, not an exception. Dude literally got on TV and said he’s not an exception when he has a college degree and is a literal US senator…by definition you have to be exceptional reach that…
The reality is that we’re talking about averages… not personal anecdotes..and all he wants to talk about is personal stories….by his backwards thinking Americans(especially southerners) and overweight just because they’re lazy and it’s got nothing do to with all the fattening food that are allowed here in the states by the fast food lobby..and his evidence would be because he works out and constantly watches calories…we’ve got the dispel this myth that you get exactly what you’re worth in this world…there are some things in your control like mindset, then then are things out of your control and that can only be solved through collective action(a war, healthcare, big charities, etc) and then there are things that even collective action can’t solve like a hurricane from happening at all or a meteor shower

@incognitoyo. It appears that systemic racism is referenced regularly by some on The View. It was emphasized in Sonny Hostin’s question to Tim Scott and it was the last comment that she made after close to twelve minutes of discussion. The crowd applauds seemingly on cue at the 12:19 mark to Sonny simply saying “systemic racism” quickly before a commercial break. In my opinion, it’s divisive rhetoric. The Democratic Party also understands that it will secure the majority of black voters. Our president recently said that white supremacy is the greatest terrorist threat to our homeland. He said this while speaking at a Howard University commencement. The irony is astounding.

Maybe we can see more progress overall in black and brown communities if we start to focus on the skills needed to become politicians, Senators, engineers, doctors, lawyers, dentist, etc. We totally commit to athletics and entertainment and we win, and to me that means that what we focus on and commit to we have an opportunity to excel at.

Haha! This heated debate was some really good practice for Tim Scott. This is exactly the kind of heated discussions he needs to be embroiled in if he wants to become president of the United States. These are all tough questions. In fact, I was pretty impressed with the way he handled himself in the midst of all those women! 👌🏾

@OKORO CHUKWUNONSO how is he dishonest? He clearly doesn’t believe in systemic racism, but you can’t say that to The View’s panel. He knows to tread lightly if he wants the left to accept, or at the very least hear his ideals.

They use the old "rope a dope" maneuver when the answer he gave wasn't to their liking. You do not ask to get the answer you want, you ask out of curiosity, at that point your curiosity can lead to follow up questions once the time is given to let the 1st question be answered.

Its all about the choices you make. I like this guy.
I remember in high school a kid dressed up everyday in a suit with a tie. Everyone made fun of him and called him Mr. President.
We need to just let people be who they are and want to be, without judging them or even saying anything at all because that makes people not make the choices they want to.
If black people aren’t getting into politics than you won’t have them. You cant just assign someone to be senator just because he’s black, he has to want that.

There was a group of black people who decided to own their own hotels, cab co. Grocery stores, law firms , schools and hospitals in their own neighborhood ... And it was a few of these neighborhoods , there some black people who owned farms and land and so forth ....they made those choices... The dvls made choices to ...they bomb their neighborhoods, stole their land , homes .....the dvls made a choice to show their perpetual hatred towards gods chosen, they made a choice to destroy these people and in a lot of ways have been successful... Some people call them Satan's children, some call them racist the Indians diagnosed them as having Wetiko disease .... The bible calls them "spittle" and our enemies ( 2nd Esdras 6v56 , Deuteronomy 28v68)
