I'm so glad I grew up watching these legends the greatest era, pure passion loyalty hunger desire and magic, just watching them again bought back my childhood their will never be such a feeling again this was the time players cared about their club country and the fans!

it's not like players don't care about clubs, country and fans nowadays. It is rather that players 20 years ago had personality which very much affected them play style. Nowadays there is way more tryhard type of rat race, while back than players like Zizou or Figo showed the class of ball control, even dribbling without much racing, and the game was usually much more technical. So player like Beckam with great technical crosses in penaulty box was one of the biggest stars. Nowadays it's more about speed and strengh, back than it was more of a miind game, decision making, technique. Only Lewandowski can match them level of wisdom, but even him is lacking personality a tiny bit. Times change, people change, so players too.

@mikitesh as we established before, stats don't prove it all, especially since the whole team work for one players stats as it's his play style (and coach directives) while the other one didn't require the whole team to focus on him and was able to direct the play for others. If we compare Zidane stats and Messi some ppl who don't know much about football would say Messi is 2 lvls ahead, while Zizou is still in the debate for the best player of all time. The whole team "pays big price" for Messi lost balls, it doesn't mean they lose the match but they have to work hard for Messi to give him the ball back again and be ready for him to lose it potentially. I watched them both at aproximetely same time so it's not nostalgia. When I watched them play Ronaldinho wasn't even my favorite, he just made the difference. And that difference wasn't coming with any "price". People can believe Messi is the goat with his "good" stats, but I'm not blind for the bad ones and whatever it is beyond the stats, like for example some great pass that is not an assits but creates great opporutinty for the assist, nobody counts that in, and plenty more sometimes crucial factors that statistics do not take into account. Anyway, this debate can go forever and it's just my opinion.

You can tell how deadly he was. And how fun it was.
Ultimately, messi and dihno have different positions in their primes, but even if messi is better, it doesn't take away anything from ronaldhino.
Its the same comparison that happens with cr7 vs messi.
They are polar opposites, and so high class we normalized 50+ goals per season for both these players.
I personally think that dihno doesn't even touch messi, but perhaps his style enchanted you.

@mikitesh He was dangerous, drew a lot of defenders attention, true, but he was not a playmaker you want to depict and he wasn't the only one initiating attacks back than. Him being the leader in lost possesion doesn't mean he is terrible player who loses the ball the most times and that's it. I understand it has a lot to do with him being very active and I know he gives a lot for that price, but what you said before he doesn't concede the ball that often is just wrong, and that big price his entire team needed to pay puts Ronaldinho in front, at least a little bit in terms of g.o.a.t debate. At least.

During those years he had minimal possession lost(i checked), had the highest goals AND assists in the year. He had the most chances created, the most successful dribbles completed, the most plays made, the most defense breaks and passes completed. He also had arguably one of the greatest carry jobs in history(next to Maradona in napoli), where he did the jobs of the ST, CF, RM, LM,LW, CAM,CM and his own RW.
So yeah, if I use a wing version of messi, his 4th best prime, he absolutely beats ronaldihno prime.
Its not even close when I see their stats.
From goals to assists to chances created, really all ronaldihno did was dance on the pitch if what I'm seeing is correct.

To think one day we'll only see the players we love today play in games like this. Messi, Ronaldo etc. Very nostalgic watching the legends of football from my childhood. As a Man Utd fan it was great to see a lot of familiar faces on both sides, as well as appreciate the other greats like Ronaldinho, John Terry etc. Out of all those players in that game, I miss seeing Ronaldinho and Scholes play the most.
