A tricky situation.
When the glove touched the canvas,
the opponent had already been charging his punch.
It would have been extremely difficult, maybe impossible,
especially when rushing to knock somebody out,
to pull that punch back.
If you look closely, (no need to slow down the speed)
the most part during that odd position Navarrete has,
his head/upper body blocks Wilson's view,
he can't see the glove touching the canvas.
Navarrete did the right thing,
touching the canvas to not get hit falling/laying on the ground,
in a defenseless position (it's not MMA).
Wilson also did the right thing, to go for the kill.
It was just half a second too late,
which happens all the time in boxing fights since fighters
neither have shot clocks installed in their heads nor
robotic abilities to stop immediately within 0.000001 seconds.
A disqualification would be really unfair
(just for that action, I did not watch the fight to see several cheap shots...).
On the other hand,
the ref giving extra seconds because of "delayed punch" was 100% the right decision.
If it was the other way around,
there would be complaining, too.
Just stick to the rules applied by now,
not the rules from yesterday, not the rules from next week
and not the rules one prefers in a certain situation.

Ah Stuttgart Wilson should of been disqualified for hitting Navarrete when his glove was touching the canvas what actually led to the 27 sec count not to mention the other cheap shots Wilson gave Navarrete.
