I miss the 3DS themes so much. They were gorgeous and added so much more personality to a device that already was so cool by itself. Hope Nintendo will do this for the Switch one day

The thing that is making me hyped is the triforce right slam dunk in the middle... I really hope we get more involved with it again in this game. I missed it in botw. Hopefully this game brings back some linear nostalgic moments from past games aswell, it would make me so happy since I'm not the biggest fan of open world games

The symbols printed on the underside of the Switch Joy-Con are likely translated as 'R' and 'L', for the right and left Joy-Con, respectively. Note that the right Joy-Con has the same symbol as the statue of Link's right hand.

Oh my gosh this is gorgeous! I’m usually not too jealous about special editions, but this one has me seriously considering selling my current OLED switch 🧡 BOTW is my first Zelda ever, and my number one favorite game on switch, and definitely in the top 3 of all time, so this… this edition is special.

Literally and ridiculously, insane. While watching this unboxing was more exciting and sick than.... I do not know what to say Man... So excited and really surprised.
I LOVE WHAT THEY DID ON THE BACK OF THE OLED ! Simple and neat. No bloated random sticker splotch symbols and such, or any Zelda here, Link there, bam bam boom. Just art, just subtle and sweet, no complications. Then the joycons go HARD !

@Rebnobfulroar if you look back at it, we can see why it is green, as it symbolizes links right arm in the game. It is deep and then fades up the arm. It's actually a really good detail imo 👌.

Thankfully nintendo have seemed to understand demand for this console and besbuy pre-orders have been up for hours which is insane to think about. Easily the most gorgeous switch design that we've ever had

I saw it randomly on amazon and I immediately pre-ordered it! I’m such a huge fan of the Zelda franchise and it’s perfect because I’ve been thinking of upgrading from my old animal crossing edition switch. Ahhhh, I’m so excited! A nice surprise for sure.

i actually shed a small little singular tear when i watched the reveal. i think it was somewhat because of me being pretty overwhelmed with life at the moment but i was very happy and excited too. that zelda switch is just stunning, unfortunately i just won't be able to get it. and also, it was so epic to watch the reveal as it was my first time watching a reveal like that "live". it's just unbelievable that you got it already but i'm happy for you!

Is absolutely gorgeous!! But I don’t understand why they didn’t pick up the green from the joy cons somewhere else? It makes it look heavy on the left side with all the white and gold everywhere but no more green except for the left joy con. Poor design choice I would say, but other than that it’s absolutely gorgeous. Might get my hands on one since I absolutely need an upgrade from my OG 2017 edition

I've been fighting with myself since I saw that it would came out. TLOZ is EASILY the most meaningful game series to me speaking of growing up and growing euqally a deep love for video game

I own the limited edition Wii U of TLOZ and it reminds me so much of it with the gold scheme they used on both

I ordered one of these after 3 weeks of contemplating, I already own an original day 1 switch and an animal crossing switch...I don't have an OLED yet, if it wasn't an OLED I would probably have even less justification for buying it lol Enjoy! 😩
It's going to be 6 years since the Switch was released but the design is still refreshing and futuristic.
So futuristic that it's pushed technology forward, and now steam deck and similar devices now exist because of switches success.
It looks BEAUTIFUL it's mainly the Zelda design for me, the color scheme and the patterns really make this standout. Developers from Monolith worked on this and botw and they also make Xenoblade 3 and it shows, taion's origami, term marks etc. I legit know someone who got a Xenoblade 3 tattoo and there probably more people, i might get one too, the term mark thing is really moving
I think this game could also have a similar effect and people were already got botw tattoos

That, is one beautiful looking dock & joy-cons! Had a chance to pre-order it yesterday (or was it the day before...?) but I couldn't pull the trigger on it. Now you have a beautiful piece to put next to your television, as you said!
Congrats on the switch man. The patch from a year ago was very informative. Zelda was suppose to release last year so that firmware update was interesting indeed. To be honest though nintrndo have been dropping the ball on the design of their controllers and switches as of late. The Zelda theme switch and dock isn't all that to me. The special edition pro controller doesn't look inspiring either, I think the xenoblade one were great as well as the monster hunter one. The only thing I like about the special edition oled is the box lol

I thought about picking this up, but it wasn't bundled with the game, and resale for prior special editions isn't much more than retail. And without a doubt I'm sure this will be nintendos most produced SE, it's a cool box and a cool.....ish, console. Tuff pass, here's to hoping I won't live my life in regret.
Also....the boards probably been made last year, the plastic housing is the edition specific, so, thats not surprising. It's unlikely they made zelda specific boards.
It makes sense that the last update was a year ago. Tears of the the kingdom was delayed by about a year if I recall correctly. Kinda makes me curious what all they did to tears of the kingdom in that time though.
Possibly the best overall design for the Nintendo Switch OLED so glad I was able to lock in a preorder
The preorders have been up for week(s) now and still available at nearly every retailer. There's nothing to lock. I think that speaks to the demand, this will be for hardcore fans but that's it. On the plus side, you don't have to deal with scalpers because it's not high demand.
Cool thanks for unboxing this. It’s nice to see it to make it easier to decide. I like the Splatoon switch more than this one. But can’t stand the yellow color splash haha. So far I think the best looking OLED is actually the regular white one. Hoping they make a Metroid switch.
Yup I think the Pokemon OLED was way better. At least you can tell what game it is for. Splatoon as well. The tablet portion is too bland.
I like the Splatoon and Pokémon ones more as well. This one felt a little lackluster to me considering it's Zelda. I wad expecting a little more.
This looks incredible for sure but personally the Splatoon Switch OLED is my favourite its colour scheme is wacky and I also really liked the Pokemon too. This zelda one is special though, for what it represents.

Someone at Nintendo saw his buy every Switch video and had pity on his poor wallet... Also for those who don't know for years Nintendo has released special edition Gold cartridge's for their Zelda games up till they went to disk, so it's nice to see them bring the gold back in some way!

I’ve held out on buying a switch for myself for all this time, I knew I was going to have to buy one to play ToTK but once I heard rumors of a special edition ToTK switch I decided to wait a little longer, and boy is it going to be cool to have this one. This is one I can see being very special and sought after in the future. And it just looks so nice.

I can relate to the golden copy of Zelda for NES I had two copies when I was a few years old that I kept one unused and used the other. Oh those were the glory and mysterious days of gaming for this wee lad.

In my opinion, the dock and joycons look great the console itself is pretty weak with just spirals, even the monster hunter edition had a cooler design on the back. Are these joycons drift resistant? I was tempted to get this but looking at it now, I ain’t going to pay a scalper to get it and then the switch 2 come out next year. The coolest limited edition console was the hylian shield 2ds xl.
This is amazing. As an owner of the Zelda New 3DS XL's the Hyrule one and the Majora's mask one, this is an absolutely gorgeous piece. 😍🤩
I'm pretty sure Wood has a new Zelda ability called fast forward that takes you forward in time, let's you buy the new OLED Zelda Switch, then reverts you back to when you last used the ability. Super cool.

Watched the first 2 minutes... And you know, I wanna experience the unboxing for myself in a months time. I'm sure it's fancy but I gotta hold back just that little bit longer.
Has anyone noticed the difference in the construction of this model? this model is lighter than the normal OLED model, and I don't think they used aluminum here (kickstand and front in old OLED is made from Aluminium)
I think the Joycons are kinda mid, but the rest looks great! Really hoping for a trim recolor some day

I was trying to decide between this edition or the Scarlet and Violet edition, and I decided on the latter because this one is a bit too muted and understated for my liking. The Scarlet and Violet one is loud and busy and the colours pop. I'm glad I have a limited edition one though, and not just the white one.

@Sway L It’s a great limited edition. I love the dual colour tone of the Splatoon Joy-cons but I’ve never played a Splatoon game so I’d feel like a traitor to the Pokémon franchise if I didn’t get the Scarlet and Violet one. 🤣

He's actually had it for a little while and it doesn't come out until May.... I could say yes. He's lucky if he was the only one that would have one, but since you can get your hands on one soon then it don't matter... But I know someone who also has one.

I literally saw this video when I was waking up, and then I saw people talking about the release on tik tok. The look of this switch OLED is insane! I have to admit that I don't play much Zelda, but this does look really cool! I want to get into more Zelda games. It's just that it doesn't appeal to me as much as it does for most people, really.. I'm willing to give it a try one day though

OOh! I really like the two tone Gold/White of the Joycons! Reminds me of the custom Repro cart I made for the Zelda Legend of Link hack for the NES! I made it using a real Famicom cart that had the special expansion audio chips and such, and it has the exact same Gold/White two tone shell. Am very proud of this repro cart I made 😁
The back shoudl have had a transparent teal gradient at the edges, i.e. painted-in light glare, that continues from the black console to the white of the joycon. The swirls should to contrast be darker and very reflective, so they're invsible but glare like ink at an angle.

It wouldn't surprise me they've been ready for a year, it is also possible that just had surplus switch boards flashed with that firmware version ready to be housed in the new shells.

The fact that it's now 100% confirmed that the powers come from the arm, and the runes, and they're so fundamentally different from the shiekah slate, combined with Zelda's NEW slate... That's too much hope that there's something deeper going on with her. Though if they are it's just as likely to be DLC...

Almost every switch bought new comes with 14.1.x on it. That have a ton of boards pre made for repairs, new units, refurb units, etc so stock all their repair centre's and assembly facilities with them. That's why this oled is on that fw.

For those who don't know. The circles are pretty much exactly the same as Zen gardens patterns.

this switch looks sick
Comparing the shown backside at 05:45 with the official product images on Amazon shows a very close match. Too perfectly similar to be faked by hand with a sharpie. If its backside is faked then that's computer assisted. The only odd difference is the color. The product images show darker lines on a lighter background. But on the video it's darker lines on a lighter background, but apart from that all imperfections and small wobbles seem to be identical - just inverted. The color difference could be because the official images might only be computer renderings (likely) or were adjusted in post processing. Or the lighting, light reflections or color grading of the video make it appear differently.
