This is a great video Coop, is all your stage sound just coming from the wedges or is there a backline too? Thanks 🤘🏼✌🏼

Great video Cooper. I am relatively new to Fractal and these types of units. I am curious to see the reaction to them from soundmen out in the field...
Also noted is how wide and 'wet' your sounds are (in a good way) - I bet it sounds amazing in a band context coming through the PA!

That rotary config is awesome Cooper. Any chance you can show how it's set up?

  • Prakhar

Sounds phenomenal! Would it be possible to dial these in the FM3 or do your presets need the full capability that FM9 has to offer (barring the foot switches)

    • Cooper Carter
Cooper Carter 2 months ago +1

You could get close on the FM3, but there are too many FXs in the preset for it to be able to replicate everything perfectly.

  • Xeladrive
    Xeladrive 2 months ago +1

Awesome ! Do you use different IR's or just one for this preset ? Thanks for you immense contribution to the Fractal world !

    • Xeladrive
      Xeladrive 2 months ago

@Cooper Carter Thanks! I thought that would be your answer and agree with this for live. Do you mind sharing which ones ? You use different levels of gain so the ones you use work very well with a wide range.

    • Cooper Carter
Cooper Carter 2 months ago +2

I'm using the same IRs for everything, here. It helps with sonic continuity, imo.

Sounds really good. I would not have known it wasn't tubes and cabs if you didn't say it wasn't in the title.
Speakers? I'm waiting for an FM9 (doggone waiting list) and want to maybe get a Line 6 Powercab 212 Plus. Again, what are you using for speakers, and what do you think of my potential choice for amplification/speakers? I need potentially LOUD for LIVE play.
Thanks Cooper. BTW, not that you need me to tell you, but you're a good player, man!

Sounds amazing! I tend to use Band Commander for cleans, Solo Rythmn for cruunch and Plexi 100W Blue for Rock. Im currently going thru the FM9 Class, where is the section on switching channels for the drive pedal as you demonstrated? If I remember correctly, it has something to do with the edit links? Great video, also digging the music man more and more...

Always enjoy your insights and have really learned much from just disecting several of your pre-sets. Lately I find myself really digging the updated Petrucci Rig-it's taken a bit but this thing (my FM-9) sounds better all the time however my AX8 still sounds great. I do also ike your approach using the more vintage amps that just seem to have more character. Thanks!!

So good Cooper. But DAMN. What monitors are you going through. The biggest problem any modeler user has. I know you're giving us direct signal here but we all know this changes dramatically when playing through FRFRs. Would love to hear the tone with phone camera audio a few feet away from your monitors. Love your work always. Peter

    • Cooper Carter
      Cooper Carter 2 months ago

Whatever monitors the stage had; no idea, sorry.

great demo of what the fractal FM9 is capable of - how good the sounds are - my question is how are you powering your cabs or going into the PA - does it have power amp simulators to power cabs without a PA or powered cabs -

    • Cooper Carter
      Cooper Carter 2 months ago

straight to FOH. Monitoring off the stage wedges.

I've spent a few minutes looking for S1 E1, and haven't found anything. I have found a bunch of other Fractal Fridays, no season listed, just numbered - should this have been labeled S2 E1, by any chance?

  • Ed Parker
    Ed Parker Day ago

I’m not sure whether it’s just me, but I’m finding a lot of the sounds I’m getting have too much bass and not enough bite like you get on a real amp. Some of the sounds on here sound bright enough though. Early days for me, just not feeling it yet….

not really a "live" sound when its direct recorded and stereo. Would be nice to actually hear it live as most rig rundowns, camera mic and stage volume, etc...

This is not a guitar set up. It's a pedalboard attached to the FOH mixer. Nothing to be excited for. A real interesting set up is made by amp, cab and maybe some rack gear all wired in a professional way.

Thinner sounds tend to sound better in a band/live context. These are fairly spot on for live context ime
