After about 10 years of listening to all the experts on forums complain about this particular trem, I watched your video and bought an RG 25th anniversary (it has this trem not the original edge) and I LOVE it. Thank you! This is an awesome trem especially for hard pickers

I've been using Dunlop Flow 2.0 for some time and I love them. I used to be a Dunlop Max-Grip 1.5, but I found they are bit soft and 'squishy'. I think the flow 2.0's are a perfect pick for me. The jumbos are just too big as well, I feel as though my fingernails always need cutting. Only trouble is they are hard to get here in Australia, $20 aud for a pack of 6 with postage.

Ich habe vom Tortex Wedge zum Flow gewechselt. Durch die minimal kleinere Form und die besser verrundeten Kanten sind meine Bewegungen beim Picking viel effizienter geworden. Ich mag das Flow und bleibe dabei.

Thanks for you detailed video. I recently bought RG550 Genesis with Edge trem. It is not clear in the manual that to adjust the height of the bridge (to lower the action in my case) the inner stud screw has to be tightened or loosened. I believe clockwise it tightens.

@Austrian Picking Power I was torn between road flare red and desert yellow - both look stunning and will have a killer stage presence. Finally, went with the yellow one as the red one has a slight issue of volume with the 1st string. Now that I bought it, I like the yellow better 😁. Will check out your video. Thanks.

A very good question! It´s different for everyone. The faster you play, the less time you´ll need to play through it. I would play through that file once or twice a day and thats it. The golden rule is that you do it concentrated and with fun! Practice must be fun!!! Tell me how it turns out for you!

Great video! :) But why you cut the strings twice? I always put the strings in opposite direction with the balls sitting perfectly on the tunnig side and in this case you have to cut only ones at the bridge side :)

    • Austrian Picking Power
      Austrian Picking Power Month ago

thank you, that´s a great question. I think that habit comes from restringing steel string acoustic guitars. There you have to put the ball end into the bridge first. I want to have 1-2 windings on the thicker strings and 3-5 windings on the thinner ones. This way I got a feel for the length....but the way you do it makes sense as well :) I think it´s a simple habit :)

Nice tip. I suffer from shoulder pain while playing in the "casual" position and I've always felt that the wrist angle is somewhat unnatural and awkward. However, I solved the problem simply by standing while practicing. I guess it's also generally better for your spine and health to stand rather than sit.

Truss rod adjustments need to be made very gradually, over days. The guitar takes time to adjust to any changes. Don’t EVER crank down on a truss rod.

I would love to learn how to do setup on my Ibanez guitars but it freaks me out. I currently have one of my Ibanez guitars at a luthier doing new strings and having the action lowered. My other I would like to do myself but again truss rod adjustment isn't something I am comfortable with.

I mostly use small (size of JAZZIII) ultex (1,34mm) and celuloid picks (0,86mm). The outline shape and the geometry of the tip I do myself to my liking with a dremel and sandpaper. Finishing with polish compound. But I so like to experiment with materials and shapes.
