Files…. Are absolutely useless on knives in my super important tactical and woodworking opinion. But truthfully, I’ve never had a knife file work well enough in any manner to replace the real thing. IMO, forgo the file and make fricken sure you’ve got the saw blade. 😊

Hey David, can you do an episode on EDC rugged folding knives? I’m thinking something durable for the hobby garden, cutting cardboard, moderate size line, potential life saving like cutting seat belts, last resort personal protection, but fine enough to cut those bothersome labels on your wife’s blouse or dig out a splinter. I love the convenience of an automatic or spring assisted folder. Thanks, love your videos and slowly adding to my collection

British people watching this: ah yes ill stab somebody than write a drill song, exactly why i need these . 🇬🇧

  • Pas Tres Malin

I purchased the Kershaw OTF as soon as it became available. Yep, hardly any blade wobble BUT... the handle's blade opening was too tight. Every time the blade was deployed or retracted, it the blade's edge rubbed on the handle and was dulled. I returned it. I own a G&G deadlock, super tight but too pricey to carry often... it will be an heirloom. I own a dozen OTFs, after the G&G the tightest (and my favorite) is my Guardian Tactical.

As always thanks David and Thomas for your review, and wish you both a happy thanksgiving weekend. Re the straight razors; few years back I started to use one (and also collect a few). Didn’t last too long as I kept cutting myself🙄, definitely an art to using correctly. I really like Solingen products, have a switch blade and even nail clippers that I purchased from them. Interesting thing was I also at some point in time bought the Dovo straight razor, but what I found was out of the box the razor was not actually sharp enough to shave, in comparison to an old 1930s vintage (British) razor I’d been using which was DEADLY sharp. I tried to strop the Dovo, but that’s an art within itself. And have to say (from my limited knowledge) that I agree with comments from the barber, Japanese shaving/blade products are excellent…..Feather blades all the way😊. Actually maybe Thomas might do live review of straight razors shaving his beard . What do ya reckon Thomas?😂

initially I didn't watch this. I finally did. It was great. Showed you don't need to buy expensive knives to have a decent collection. A collection like this enables viewers to find their favorite knife type and then spend upper bucks if that is their desire. I only have a few knives but I see it growing very similar to this collection. I just need to vary my purchase. I've already found out I like slicers. THANKS!!!!!

I know these are newer knives, but I think the dozier is my favorite budget folder. It checks all the boxes- 3 inch blade, neutral handle, good grip and jimping, lightweight, slim, strong lock up, attractive blade shape. Basic but not boring. I have the srm on the way, might try out the schrade.

Some of those are switch blades the others are stilettos. OTF's are stilettos.

  • Otosj van Tolerbok

The Mora Chisel looks very similair to the work knife of people who place the glas of windows! They use the chiselpart extensively. Btw, the knive side of the blade is grinded only on one side, making it a righthand knife only, but similair to the Yakut knive from Siberia. The a symetric grind is very usefull in bushcrafting.

  • Thakk Mylde

Non knife guy question here. I'm a medical cannabis user and I would like a small blade that I could use for chopping up my flower like back in the old days. I don't want scissors, I want a blade. (A grinder is efficient, but not very Hands-On if that makes sense.) If you could point me in the right direction of where to look, I would appreciate that very much. Thank you. (edit - sub $60 preferably)
