Ampero II Stomp | Modern Blues presets
These 20 modern blues presets uses various amp models and custom IRs, focusing mostly on the boutique amps (Dumble, Dr Z, Trainwreck etc). As for most of my packs, the focus here is on getting the best base tone with each amp model, which you can then customize. Delay and modulation effects are included but are bypassed in most presets, don’t hesitate to activate them! That’s the sounds I’ll use to play songs by Joe Bonamassa, Larry Carlton, Robben Ford, Derek Trucks and the like.

Helix 3.50 quick cab test

Here's a preset from my "Big Pack" which I used as a test for the new features : the dual IR block (the original version had two single IR blocks), compared to the new factory cabs. I used two 4x12 Cali V30 cabs, one with a SM57, the other with a MD421 (I wasn't convinced by the M160/R121 I would normally use). I was a beta tester, so I had plenty of time to test the new cabs before firmware 3....

Ampero II Stomp | Try this stereo enhancer trick !
Views 365Month ago
The Ampero II Stomp have a dedicated stereo enhancer effect, but I find another way to achieve an awesome stereo spread : use the "2290 Mod" delay model ! Check the settings on this video, the Mix should be anywhere between 20 % and 45 %, and the Feedback on 0. I have set the level on 38 but it should probably be a little lower. I use these settings in all my rhythm presets in my "Metal vol. 1"...

The converters, and the resolution, are better in the GT-1000, which explains the more transparent sound

Hi! Yes there are, more stuff on the FM9 version, as it has twice the power. The FM9 version is almost the same as the Axe-Fx III one, the FM3 has some compromises (less blocks, reverb in lowest quality etc.)

What corners did you have to cut going from Helix Floor to Pod Go? Or, what extras does the Helix Floor set include? Or are they interchangeable? For this show, are you going direct to FOH? Are you using the house monitors or do you have an amp/FRFR set up for your own monitor, and are they mic'd? The details are kind of important to know how your presets are optimized to work. Thanks.

    • J M
      J M 12 days ago

      @thibderob Thanks again

    • thibderob
      thibderob 12 days ago

@J M Hi, the rhythm guitar player used those live (on my Helix). No tweaks were necessary, we all did that in the rehearsal room, which is a big space with an extensive FOH, and enough space for 50+ guests watching us rehearse. I added the 3.15 versions in the Big Pack recently (only the HSS version though ; the dedicated Pink Floyd pack also have SSS and Variax versions, and more songs)

    • J M
      J M 13 days ago

@thibderob Hey a few more questions? By necessity, your preset demos are recorded in a studio, using the recording of your live performance as a backing track - rather using those presets for the live performance itself. Understandable. But - how much tweaking and normalizing of levels, etc, do you think they would need to use in a live theater/festival setting? From experience, settings that work in a small room at low volume are far different than a theater with a live band. Another question... I plan on getting the FM9 PF presets if I join this band, but I purchased the Helix Big Pack a few years ago. Looking through those presets, the Pink Floyd presets in that pack are for firmware 2.70. Can I update those to the 3.15 version? Thanks for your time.

    • thibderob
      thibderob 14 days ago

@J M I would use the Pod Go but with a midi controller, to make presets change easier. But it's still doable with the Pod Go only. However, I'll chose the FM9 over it or the Helix

Gilmour uses a lot of compression and gating for the lead on the Wall pt 2. The notes have a very distinct envelope in how each note pops. I don't know how to get that sound, but I do know its from a lot of gating and compression. Everything else here is awesome and I don't think I would spend so much for any other preset pack. I want to buy this, but if you could work out that compression and gating on the wall, thats the only thing holding me back.

    • thibderob

There's no FM3 version, the FM3 isn't powerful enough. However, the base tone is from the Friedman Amp pack, which is indeed in the FM3 Amp Pack bundle
