This is a great idea, but when you have to switch flex back on after bouncing in place you're then relying on Logics transient analysis again. So won't you end up in the same position with transient markers all out of place on your new drum replacement track?

It's a bit _shady_ to say "you get what you pay for" regarding LogicPro. I remember when Logic (with their available sounds) cost over $1500!!! Now it costs $199 all-in and is _at least_ twice the application it was then! (I'd go so far to say the free Garage Band is more capable that 1999-era Logic.) Logic is inexpensive, not because it's second-rate, it's inexpensive because Apple is flush with money and can afford to give it away! It's still a world-beater application. You get *_far more_* than what you pay for! Please... Keep it real.

I also play worship Hillsong, Elevation, Bethel..so go figure! Awesome unit in the studio as well! I own and PRS24 Custom, a T5zPro and a custom Fender signature guitar with humbucker bridge pickup. My next guitar would be a Gretsch Penguin. Basically , if you own a Kemper, get yourself a do it all guitar and you are set to tour! Anyone out there doing heavy work with music needs this baby ! Great video and very cool band. I had never heard any american band with 2 bass players before but we have 2 huge, major label 90s latin rock bands with 2 basses in Latin America that I'm pretty sure you'd love to check since their approach is totally different. Molotov is a Grammy winning mexican band where both basses are thick and often panned to the sides! Not all songs have 2 basses since they rotate the instruments among themselves but they sound amazing! This is Molotov clip-share.net/video/mTUkSm2ZCX0/video.html And this is Resorte, it was the first nu metal band in Latin America in the 90s clip-share.net/video/8jInnRzztIk/video.html Both bands had spectacular producers with amazing mixes.

And also Luna comes packed with bugs and a lack of lot features you take for granted in others DAWs. Duplicating a Track, great - but then wait a couple of min for Luna to recalculate the plug-ins. Each time!? Loading a project can take more than 5 min. On a iMac 2020 i10 9core with 64 GB RAM. In other DAWs the Mac doesn’t even break out in sweat.

Home Recording Network encouraged me to embrace saturation in many individual tracks as well as the master mix bus. Thank you! This is a great visual demonstration of what's happening under the hood. My DAW has several options but my favorite is the Toneboosters TB Ferox Tape Emulator v. 3, which sounds great at defaults. There's also a Fat+ by G-Sonique, which I like for instruments like guitars and woodwinds.

Great in depth tutorial. I am trying to use this method for a second time but for some reason after I have removed the unnecessary transient markers for kick and snare tracks, I do not have the 'slice at transient' or any flex time options when right clicking at the top of the kick region. Can anyone help? If this is any use - The tracks also do not display the dark blue flex mode region style with faint markers after entering flex mode.

Is there an alternative for the stereo delay plug-in in FL Studio?

  • Casey Fitzpatrick

Could you essentially do this method but just set the markers yourself initially so they don’t cut off that little beginning of the kick hits or snare hits? Maybe would just make it take longer I guess? Thanks for the help i’m a super intimated beginner at editing!

Imo, Luna is the best looking DAW. It's got that inspiring analog studio interface, similar to Reason Racks. However, feaure wise it's not great. it's held up by UAD plug in's, if you're invested in their system. Studio One is still king of workflow, options and features imo, especially where it matters in the arrangement window and the mixer.

Wow, you said check it out; but in all honesty, you've not changed your thoughts or how you view mastering. You've just tried to cover yourself by saying that there is still work out there for mastering engineers. You quoted a comment from your first video from a retired mastering engineer and what he said in regard to what mastering was all about in the beginning is absolutely true. What he failed to define is the new role of he mastering engineer in modern times. It has change dramatically and goes far beyond that of the past requirements. A mastering engineers role is just as valuable to the music industry as before. As for pricing, a 100 USD per song in regard to a top professional; that's cheap. Most professional mix engineers will send their material to a professional mastering engineer. The only time it's not worth doing is when your material is not going to be released, unless you can afford it and desire to do so. A different set of ears is highly under rated. A mix engineer or yourself will have great difficulty in distinguishing any changes, especially subtle changes. Such also happens if mixing for long periods of time. There are not as many top notch mixing engineers who will master the tracks that they have mixed. Those more likely to attempt to do so are the les experience and or those trying to save themselves money. There are those who also send their finished recordings to mix engineers in order to get a professional mix. Something your original track could have done with. The gentleman who appeared to be supportive, may have been right in his opinion; that your original mix was better than the master produced by the mastering engineers, but did he actually mean that it was a great mix? One thing you keep referring to the mastered tracks as mixes; they're not. You didn't send stems to play with,. Yes, they can make many kinds of changes, but they cannot physically remix the stereo mix that you sent. I'm sorry, but I have to agree with 'Gear Space' about the disinformation. The only people that you are helping are those who actually know less than you. And in that you are doing them a disservice! Your experience is a drop in the ocean in comparison to top flight professionals. Be careful who you knock when you speak out, especially in regard to some of you comments. Did you go back and question the masters that you received beyond those who in your opinion were okay? If not, then the final master that you received is totally down to you. No feedback, indicates that you were satisfied with their work. If you'd said that you were not satisfied, I'm certain that after an open and honest discussion that they would have happily remastered the track and without any further charge. Yes, there are those out there who give mastering engineers a bad name, but then you should ensure that you go to a reputable one. As for mastering in analogue, in the particular case you mentioned. the engineer may well have used emulation software to achieve the result. It's not unheard of. Personally, I prefer the real deal and you can get pretty close without resorting to the use of tape saturation. The interface you use makes a large contribution towards the sound of analogue.

So much truth in this lesson. I find myself thinking about the mix before I've really perfected the playing. It can feel tedious at times, but well worth the effort when your final recording sounds tight. Best compliment I ever received in the studio as a guitar player was when a producer said to me, "I love it when a player knows his shit."

One technique I stumbled on while doing some research was to use VCAs on vocal tracks, and apply a gentle Opto to the mix bus. I tried it out when mixing a live recording where the band's mic techniques weren't so great, causing slightly lumpy vocals. The Opto helped smooths out the vocals and gives them a really natural sound.

Hey, I have issues with "heavy" UAD plugins on audio tracks in Logic (such as Neve 1073, Capitol Chambers etc) being disabled. Even with only 25% DPS being used. Would this be a reason to switch over to Luna? And also the "increase you buffer size" alert message when playing tracks. I see you refer to this in your video and say Luna ignores this. Thanks for the video, useful info.

I’m not sure what is going on with your dsp but I don’t think it is a logic issue. I could be wrong though! As far as the buffer size issue, when you are mixing in LUNA it will always have a high buffer so I don’t think you would get those pop ups as much. It’s free so why not try it out!?
